Chapter 137 - Snow Queen

We divided into teams quickly.

Mina looked at me, arms crossed. "This seems... unfair."

I shrugged. "That sounds like a skill issue."

She scoffed. "You, Nejire, and Eri against the rest of us? You sure you are not forfeiting?"

Nejire wrapped an arm around my shoulder. "Aww, don't be mad, Mina! I am here for moral support!"

I side-eyed her. "You are here because you do not know how to lose."

She beamed. "Exactly!"

Eri tugged at my sleeve. "Are we really going to fight everyone?"

I patted her head. "Yep."

She looked around at the others. Kaminari was already making tiny sparks in his hands, hyping himself up like this was a real war. Bakugo was cracking his knuckles, probably considering whether snow counted as an excuse to use real explosions. Yaoyorozu was trying to set rules, but no one was listening.

Eri nodded. "Okay."

Mina clapped her hands. "Alright, alright. If we are splitting into teams, let's do it properly."

We divided up fast.

Team One: Me, Nejire, and Eri.

Team Two: Bakugo, Kirishima, Jiro, Sero, Aoyama and Yaoyorozu.

Team Three: Izuku, Uraraka, Iida, Shoji, and Tsuyu.

Team Four: Kaminari, Mina, Todoroki, Ojiro, Sato, Hagakure, and Mineta.

Bakugo grinned. "The fuck you gonna do, Ryuu? You got a kid on your team."

Eri narrowed her eyes at him. "I will throw snow at you."

He snorted. "Tch. Yeah, sure, kid."

I scooped up a handful of snow, packed it tight, and launched it straight at his face. It hit with a satisfying smack.

Bakugo wiped his cheek, his eye twitching. "You little-"

"War's started," I said, grabbing Eri and flipping backward over a bench. "Later, losers."

Nejire followed, laughing as we darted behind cover.

Shitstorm activated.

---

Snowballs started flying immediately. Sero and Kaminari worked together, using tape and electricity to launch icy projectiles at anything that moved. Shoji was blocking attacks like a goddamn fortress. Mina was charging up a snowball with acid, which was overkill, but no one was stopping her.

Todoroki was, unsurprisingly, freezing shit. Half the battlefield was already covered in ice, which Uraraka used to float herself over the fight, dropping snow bombs from above.

Eri peeked over our barricade. "They are fighting really hard."

"Yep," I said, adjusting my gloves. "That just makes it funnier when we win."

Nejire nudged me. "So, big plan?"

I smirked. "Yeah. Let them kill each other first."

She nodded. "Solid strategy."

Eri threw a snowball. It missed by a mile.

She frowned at her hand. "I need practice."

Nejire handed her another snowball. "Here, try again!"

Eri aimed carefully this time, then hurled it with everything she had. It hit Mineta in the back of the head.

He face-planted into the snow.

Nejire cheered. "Nice shot!"

Eri gasped. "I did it!"

"Yep," I said. "And now we relocate before they figure out where we are."

---

Todoroki was the main problem. His side of the field was practically an ice fortress now. Yaoyorozu was making shields to block incoming attacks. Jiro used her sound waves to track people moving behind cover.

I tossed a snowball at Nejire. "Alright, we have to break the ice. Literally."

She caught it, tilting her head. "And how do we do that?"

I pointed at Eri. "We send her."

Eri blinked. "Me?"

"Yep."

Nejire giggled. "Ooooh, I like this plan!"

Eri frowned. "But how?"

I crouched down. "We launch you."

She thought about it for a second. "Okay."

Nejire scooped her up. "Hold on tight!"

Eri wrapped her arms around Nejire's neck.

I made a quick countdown. "Three, two, one- go!"

Nejire shot into the air, carrying Eri straight over the battlefield.

Everyone looked up.

Jiro shouted, "The hell is that?!"

Eri threw snowballs down at them.

Chaos.

Yaoyorozu blocked with a shield, but the others weren't as lucky. Sato got hit first, too surprised to react. Shoji tried to deflect for him, but Sero still got hit in the face and went down.

Nejire swooped back toward me, landing light as a feather. "That was fun!"

Eri's eyes sparkled. "Again!"

I pointed at Todoroki. "No need. He is pissed now."

Sure enough, he was already stepping forward, eyes narrowing.

Nejire huffed. "Oh, please, what is he gonna do?"

I sighed. "Nejire, what is the opposite of fun?"

She blinked. "Uh…?"

I pointed at Todoroki.

The entire goddamn field froze.

Nejire and Eri blinked at the solid ice now trapping half the players.

Eri pointed. "He is scary."

Nejire pouted. "Rude! That is cheating!"

I stretched my arms. "Eh. More of a problem for them than us."

And it was. Half the players were now stuck in place, which meant fewer people throwing snow at us. I took the chance to grab a handful, packing it tight before launching it at Kaminari.

It hit. He twitched from the cold and collapsed.

"Nice," Nejire said.

Yaoyorozu turned to Todoroki. "You should really warn us before doing that."

Todoroki shrugged.

Meanwhile, Bakugo was still standing, completely unaffected. He cracked his knuckles. "Alright, I am done with this snowball bullshit."

Jiro groaned. "Oh, here we go."

Bakugo stomped forward. "Maid-oriya! Stop hiding, you little shit!"

I peeked over my cover. "Not hiding, just observing your downfall."

He smirked. "Oh yeah?"

He launched himself at me.

I hurled the snowball at Bakugo's face. It smacked him dead center, exploding into white powder on impact.

"You are out."

His eye twitched. "You piece of-"

Another snowball. This one straight to the chest.

"This is your goodbye gift."

Bakugo growled, hands twitching like he was about to start throwing actual explosions, but before he could even move, Iida tackled him out of the battlefield. "The rules are clear, Bakugo-kun! Accept your defeat with dignity!"

"Dignity my ass, Glasses!" Bakugo shoved him off. "I am blowing that bastard up after this!"

"Rules are rules!" Iida insisted, dragging him back as Bakugo flailed like an angry toddler being pulled away from a toy aisle.

His teeth clenched, fists sparking like he was about to set the entire snowfield on fire, but rules were rules. Even he wasn't stupid enough to cheat after getting called out.

Meanwhile, Nejire swooped down and grabbed Eri, dodging a flurry of snowballs. We regrouped on Todoroki's frozen castle, which had long since become our territory. Eri laughed, pointing down at the battlefield like some kind of tiny warlord surveying her kingdom.

"Our land now," she declared.

Mina collapsed in the snow, groaning. "This is bullshit."

Jiro dusted snow off her shoulders. "Told you picking a fight with them was a bad idea."

Kirishima shrugged. "Eh, it was fun."

Sero leaned on him. "Yeah, for you. I got knocked out in the first five minutes."

Kirishima shook his head. "Man, I thought we had a chance, but you guys were just flying everywhere."

Uraraka hovered in place, arms crossed. "Kinda unfair if you think about it."

Nejire twirled midair. "You could've floated too, Ochaco-chan! You had options!"

Uraraka clicked her tongue. "Yeah, but my version doesn't come with built-in flight control."

Sero shook his head. "Nah, the real unfair thing is Ryuu. That bastard has ridiculous aim."

Nejire floated down next to me, brushing snow off her coat like she hadn't just wiped the battlefield with 75% of the class. "I think that counts as a win, yeah?"

Eri beamed from atop Todoroki's half-melted ice platform. "I had the most hits!"

Kirishima wiped his face. "Man, I haven't been beaten this bad since the dodgeball incident…"

Sero sighed. "Rest in peace, Team Tape."

Mineta groaned from the snowbank he fell into earlier. "I was hit before the game even started…"

"Skill issue," I muttered.

Jiro was still brushing snow off her gear. "Okay, but in fairness, Ryuu had literal air support."

Uraraka pouted. "Nejire was basically cheating."

"Nope!" Nejire grinned. "That was tactical superiority."

Yaoyorozu conjured a crown out of gold filament and gently set it on Eri's head. "Victory should be recognized. Queen of Snow."

Eri gasped, hugging her. "So pretty!"

"Like you," Momo said with a smile.

Eri held the crown with both hands. "Can we do this again tomorrow?"

"No," Bakugo barked. "I am building snow grenades next time."

"I got wiped out by a literal five-year-old. My hero license should be revoked." Kaminari flopped into the snow like a broken man. "My rep is in shambles."

"You never had one," Jiro said.

The class regrouped inside, boots off, coats steaming by the door. Momo handed out hot cocoa. Iida passed out towels like some kind of snowbutler. Kaminari dripped water everywhere.

"Careful!" Iida scolded. "You are creating puddles!"

"I am creating vibes," Kaminari shot back, wrapping himself in two blankets and falling over dramatically.

Nejire sprawled across the couch like a cat, Eri tucked under her arm. "I call this a tactical cuddle."

Eri peeked up. "I want to learn more snow tactics. Like surprise attacks. And bunker defense."

Uraraka blinked. "You are five."

"I am a general."

Fair enough.

Bakugo paced in the corner, muttering to himself like a war criminal plotting round two. Todoroki handed him a cup of tea. He took it. Didn't drink it. Just glared into the void.

"Next time," Bakugo whispered. "I strike first."

"Okay, calm down, Vegeta," Sero muttered.

Tsuyu sipped her cocoa. "Ribbit. I think we learned something today."

"What is that?" Jiro asked.

Tsuyu looked dead at Eri. "Never underestimate someone under four feet tall."

Eri nodded gravely. "I will rise again."

"Worst part," Kaminari muttered, "is I still can't feel my ass."

"Doubt it is about snow fight," Jiro said, deadpan.

Mina burst out laughing.

Outside, the snow kept falling.

I kicked back on the couch, half-asleep, cocoa in hand.

Inside, we were warm, full of sugar, and just a little bruised.

Good day.

War was hell.

But snowball war?

That was home.
