William and Everett were still deep in discussion when Bretum leaned in and whispered discreetly, "My lord… I saw Lady Juliet and Lord Walter together. There was also another man with them."
William's expression froze.
Everett noticed the shift and politely stood. "Well, I must take my leave now. Let us talk again soon, Lord William."
William stood and shook his hand. "Of course."
As Everett departed, William remained still for a moment, staring thoughtfully.
"Are you sure it was Juliet and Walter?" he asked Bretum quietly.
"I am certain, my lord."
William placed a thoughtful hand on his chin. "If Walter is getting close to Jonathan again… we can't just sit by."
"But my lord—" Bretum began.
"Walter is not a child anymore," William cut in firmly. "Whatever he's planning, I want to understand it. I'll speak to him myself."
"…As you wish," Bretum replied.
