This name surfaced in her head without warning the moment she laid her eyes on the first child. At this point, Raven wasn't even startled at the strange names that echoed in her head whenever she crossed paths with demons.
First, Lucifer.
Then, Asmodeus.
Now, Belphegor.
Who would be next?
A greedy demon or an envious one?
Raven began to notice a pattern. The demons had unique names, yet their titles were simple if not plain.
Pride.
Lust.
Gluttony.
'Like sins.' She thought, just as the ominous gaze began to fade, and silhouettes of skinny children emerged one by one from the dense fog.
'Sins of humans.'
''Mother.'' The voices of the children rang out in unison, like a chilling harmony that sent a crawling shiver down her spine and raised the hairs on her skin. They stood together like clusters, and their gazes stung her from every direction, piercing, heavy and filled with an ominous feeling.
