''Why do you come out of the young lady's room at this late hour?'' Cora paused on the doorway at the sight of the person before her gaze.
''...''
Wordlessly, the maid stepped out and closed the door, standing face to face with the person. Her heart raced a bit, but her stoic face did not betray a hint of her true feelings.
''Young lady needed to wet her throat, Miss Lily.'' Her reply was curt.
''As a personal maid, aren't you aware of the young lady's needs at the right time?''
Cora silently accepted the admonish from the older maid. If she were to argue, she might mistakenly slip up somewhere and her young lady had warned her to be wary of the sixth madam's maid, Miss Lily.
'She's getting suspicious.' She did not need a second guess to know that. Her young lady and the sixth madam have never acted like normal mother and daughter. When she started working as a maid for her young lady, she heard of the poor relationship between the two.
