Nikolas stood in front of the car, his eyes following Harrison his driver as he loaded the last of the luggage into the trunk.
Lifting his wrist to check the time,it was 11 a.m. They were already an hour late.
He clenched his jaw.
He shook his head,as he tried to suppress the tight feeling in his chest, stubborn, suffocating.
As he remembered how Selene had made herself painfully clear on the phone last night: she didn't want him to pick her up.
He had even offered to send a car instead, just in case she was still uncomfortable with him going to her house.
But she had declined that offer too, insisting she could find her own way to the airport. He should be okay with it,just respect her boundaries.
He should have let it go. But after this exhausting, chaotic week, he had been so desperate to see her,and finally be alone with her again. But deep down, he still had that nudging feeling that there was something else behind her behavior.
