Chapter 25 - Chapter 23: In Bad Taste

Yuriko stared at Tanaka for a long time, finding it almost strange to believe the man knew exactly who she was by a mere educated guess. He didn't do it by recognition, like Flower or maybe Vin, but by finding her tools in the ruins of her home. A normal individual would have thought it was just her usual collection of weapons, like her grandfather had. Yet, it was Tanaka, her police force accomplice, and he was smart.

"What?" Jun Lei interrupted her thoughts, stepping forward. "What are you implying? Are you saying my teenage daughter is a vigilante?"

"I am afraid so," Tanaka continued looking at Yuriko.

"That is ridiculous!" She shouted. "She's fifteen! You really think a fifteen year old could pull off what Wakizashi has?!"

"You tell me," He said, now turning his head. "She has been living at a dojo for the past eight years. Could she have been training that whole time?"

"Well, yes," Her mother replied carefully. "But- She wouldn't! She's only a young girl!"

That was when Yuriko's phone rang. Both of them looked at her, and she trailed her gaze down to her pocket. Turning away, she plucked the device from the depths of her pants and looked at the contact that appeared. Jayce. Wondering why he was calling her back, she tapped the screen and brough the phone up to her ear.

"Yes?" She asked.

"Yuriko!" He said in a panic. "Mystic's not at the right place anymore! Well, she is, but- Nevermind, she's still at Leyu Memorial Hospital, but there's two buildings. One for recovering patients, and one for emergencies. She was in the emergency until an hour ago. She's transferring to recovering right now!"

"So where is the bomb…?" Yuriko said quietly.

"I…" Jayce panted. "I don't know."

She turned to the police officer, a look of worry on her face. "Tanaka," She said. "Leyu has two buildings. We don't know which one has the bomb."

"What?" He breathed. "We barely have time to search one building, much less two. Where is Naomi?"

"She's in transit," Yuriko answered. "What time is it?"

Tanaka checked his watch. "Two fifty five," He looked back up. "We're not going to get it in time."

Jun Lei rushed into the conjoined living room, turning on the television and cycling through the channels until she reached a news reporter. They were outside Leyu memorial hospital, talking about how the people were being evacuated and they suspected the bomb was inside. Yuriko turned away again as she spoke into the phone.

"Are Matsuda and Vinhatri still there?" She asked.

"No," Jayce informed her. "I called them and told them about the situation. They left, but Vinny was very upset about leaving Mystic behind." He paused. "We have to do something."

"I can't fight a bomb, Miller," Yuriko whispered.

"I know, but-" He started.

"There's nothing we can do," She tried to convince him. "I'm sorry."

Yuriko could hear his breathing quicken on the other side, and she glanced back at the television. Behind the reporter, she could see it – one of the windows shatter in the hospital building. Then, fire burst out in a bundle, circling up and blowing outwards. The explosion sounded before screams scattered, and the camera cut out. Jun Lei covered her mouth with a gasp, and Tanaka lowered his head.

"Yuriko?" Jayce said timidly.

"Yes?" She answered.

"Look at channel BK-401," He spoke.

"Mother," Yuriko called to Jun Lei, and she looked back. "Go to BK-401."

Her mother picked up the remote, flipping through the channels until she reached yet another news reporter. They were sitting at a desk, a blue screen behind them with a picture in the corner of a dark figure dressed in black and using two short swords. Wakizashi. She watched in utter horror as the announcer spoke, looking down at a piece of paper.

"We just received a report from an anonymous caller," He said. "We do not know if this is true, but have new information on the vigilante Wakizashi. Apparently, her identity has been revealed to be none other than Yuriko Romanov, a secondary school student of Kageru High."

Her mother gasped again, holding her stomach with one hand as her eyes widened. Yuriko put one hand over her mouth, watching as Tanaka sighed and turned to her. No words were shared between the two, but Yuriko knew what he wanted to say. She didn't even speak into the phone as she hung up, simply lowering her hand and walking over to him.

"Let me see that video again," Yuriko said.

Tanaka pulled out his phone, touching the screen a few times before handing it over to her. She took it, watching the video again, but examining it more closely. Yes, she knew why it seemed familiar now. The windows in the back shared a similar scenery she saw a few times before, and a chair… a chair that was always there, where Mystic would constantly sit.

Room 301.

She handed the phone back, grabbing the clothes off the table. Saying nothing, she walked into her newly appointed bedroom and shut the door. Checking over them, they seemed to suffer only a few stains from ashes and soot, no burns or holes present. Not caring all that much, she quickly got dressed in the three piece costume and stepped back out. Both her mother and Tanaka were staring at her, mask down. She grabbed the swords, attaching them to her hip as she started for the door.

Alas, Tanaka grabbed her arm. "Where are you going?" He demanded.

"To get revenge," She seethed, pulling away. "I know where they are."

"I can't let you go alone," He argued.

Wakizashi was silent for a moment, then looked at him sharply. "Then drive me."

Tanaka seemed to hesitate, glancing at her mother for a split second, before looking back at her. "Fine."
