"Please leave my son!"
Amelia Linton wasted no unnecessary words and made no superfluous movements. As soon as Lily Turner settled on the sofa, she spoke directly.
Even though she used the polite term "please," her tone was anything but polite.
Because she anticipated that Amelia Linton would say such things to her, Lily wasn't surprised or taken aback, but she felt very uncomfortable inside.
"Auntie! Is this all you want to say to me?" Surely there's more, Lily thought, suspecting that Amelia had other things to say, but the meaning was likely similar.
"Of course not!" Amelia calmly admitted there was more to say. After a pause, she continued, "Before you leave my son, I would like you to do one more thing."
"You want me to do something? What is it?"
Lily was utterly puzzled. She had a very strong premonition that whatever Amelia wanted her to do wouldn't be a good thing.
Amelia glanced at the room's doorway before replying, "I'll tell you when Sister Gui returns."
