Sienna's POV
I found the book in a place no one would think to look—inside the lining of my mother's old jacket. The small leather-bound journal had stayed hidden there for years, waiting for me to discover its secrets.
My hands shook as I opened it. The pages were yellow with age, covered in my mother's handwriting. And there it was, on the final page—the truth that had been kept from me my whole life.
"There is a Fourth Trial," I whispered to the empty room.
Everyone thought there were only three Celestial Trials—trials I'd already faced. But my mother's diary told a different story.
I closed the book quickly when I heard footsteps. Kieran emerged in the doorway, his face tired from organizing our defenses.
"Any news from your brother?" he asked.
"Nothing yet," I answered, sliding the journal into my pocket. I couldn't tell him what I'd found. Not yet. Not when I still wasn't sure who to trust.
