Ava paused, surprised.
She and Liam had been trying for a baby for months—tracking her cycle, calculating the dates—yet nothing had happened.
Now, when she'd completely stopped thinking about it… here it was.
Pregnant.
Liam immediately tossed the grilled squid skewer into the nearest trash bin. "Let's go home. Mary needs to start prepping a prenatal meal plan."
Ava blinked, half-laughing. "Prenatal meals are for after the baby's born. You mean nutrition-focused meals."
"Same difference."
He grabbed her hand and practically dragged her to the car, long strides full of urgency. His expression remained calm, but his heart was racing with barely contained joy.
Ava, on the other hand, was much more composed.
Halfway to the car, she glanced at a nearby pharmacy. "Let's buy a pregnancy test kit, just to be sure. My cycle's late sometimes—only by a few days. Better to double-check."
"I'll get it. You wait in the car."
