Sophia had never encountered someone as obstinate as Ethan Grant. Despite his youth, he was remarkably stubborn, impervious to persuasion. A mutually beneficial collaboration was on the table, yet he refused.
Before security could escort her out, Sophia stormed out of Zenith Auctions in frustration. Outside, she promptly retrieved her phone and dialed Deirdre.
"Grandma, your plan didn't work," she complained. "Ethan Grant kicked me out. He's insufferable, saying I lack integrity and only seek pleasure, not hardship. Can you believe a man would say that to a woman? No chivalry at all!"
Deirdre frowned. "He said that?"
"Yes! He claimed I only want to share the good times, not the bad, and refused to cooperate. It's infuriating!"
Deirdre pondered. "I distinctly noticed something in his eyes when he looked at Ava. Perhaps I misread it?"
