Chapter 123 - Chapter 123: Talking to Kurama

Killer Bee looked at the group of children before him, his gaze lingering on the one who had suddenly grown taller than the rest.

"Naruto, are you saying you want me to be their teacher?"

Naruto nodded confidently. "Of course. You didn't earn the title of Killer Bee for nothing. It would be a waste if you didn't pass on your experience. Besides, you're just lounging around anyway. Why not help me train some talent?"

Leaning in close, Naruto whispered, "When the Ōtsutsuki attack, these kids will be the ones on the front lines."

Killer Bee raised an eyebrow. "For real?"

Naruto gave him a firm look. "Would I lie to you? So you need to teach them everything you know. Don't hold back and end up regretting it when the time comes. Imagine failing to save your brother because you kept a few tricks to yourself. Wouldn't that be embarrassing?"

Killer Bee's eyes widened. "These kids… are connected to saving my brother?!"

Naruto nodded again, his expression unwavering.

Killer Bee mulled over the idea. After all, Naruto had come back from the future. If he was saying this, then it had to be true. Looking at his determined face, Killer Bee knew he had been convinced.

Sure enough, Jinchūriki were sometimes much easier to deal with than non-Jinchūriki!

Gyūki had already put his trust in Naruto, and Killer Bee decided he would too. But the thought of it made him sigh. Why was there such a vast difference between tailed beasts?

That thought made Naruto realize that he hadn't spoken to Kurama in a while.

As he turned to leave, Killer Bee looked at the list Konan had compiled and said, "Naruto, all thirty-six of these kids have an affinity for all five nature transformations. I can't just focus on training the ones with Lightning Release!"

Naruto glanced at the list and waved a hand dismissively. "That's fine. Start with taijutsu, assassination techniques, and general combat skills. As for ninjutsu, Nagato can help with that. I'll handle the initial group lessons. And soon, I'll be reviving someone who can take over some of the training."

Killer Bee's eyes twitched. "You're reviving someone…?"

Naruto just smirked, as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

If the living weren't good enough as trainers, he'd just bring someone back from the dead.

Later that night, Naruto lay down in his room and closed his eyes, his consciousness slipping into the familiar darkness of the sealed space where Kurama resided.

"Oi, Kurama! Haven't seen me in a while. Miss me?"

Kurama lay lazily behind the bars of his seal, one eye half-open. He knew it was Naruto, but he didn't even bother looking at him.

Naruto chuckled. So arrogant—just like Sasuke.

He walked in without a care, completely unguarded. He knew that Kurama had already started accepting him. After all, the more Naruto used Kurama's chakra, the more their chakras intertwined.

When he had fought against the White Zetsu Army in Konoha, he had nearly run out of chakra. But instead of siphoning off Naruto's energy, Kurama had silently sent his own chakra to him.

That alone showed how much their relationship had changed.

Not to mention, after sparring with Killer Bee, Kurama had also sensed Gyūki's chakra and knew that Naruto was in contact with other tailed beasts.

But more than anything, Naruto's strength was his biggest bargaining chip.

He confidently walked up to Kurama's massive head and smirked. "Look me in the eyes, Kurama. Or do I need to bribe you with dango again?"

Kurama's ears twitched at the word "dango," and he instantly recalled the last unpleasant experience he'd had with Naruto's so-called "treats."

Damn brat! He never forgets anything!

Furious, Kurama opened his eyes, revealing his burning red pupils. He glared down at Naruto—only to freeze when he saw them.

Those eyes…

Naruto's Rinnegan gleamed ominously in the darkness of the seal.

"YOU—!"

Kurama had known that Naruto possessed the Rinnegan, but seeing them in person was another thing entirely. Those eyes could control him with a mere thought—without even using dango as a bribe.

For a moment, Kurama regretted his outburst.

Naruto sighed dramatically. "Come on, old friend. I came all this way to visit you, and this is how you act?"

Kurama huffed and laid back down. "I already give you my chakra for free. What more do you want?"

Naruto's smirk deepened. "I want to discuss something with you."

Kurama barely flicked his tail. "Not interested."

"I haven't even told you what it is yet!"

"If it's coming from you, it can't be anything good."

Naruto pointed at him and mock-scolded, "I'm warning you! You can be as moody as Sasuke, but don't push it too far. You're both my best friends, but if you piss me off, I'll punch you. Got it?"

Kurama blinked. Best… friend?

Something about that word struck a chord in his chest.

But he quickly scoffed. "Hmph! You humans are all the same. You only want our power!"

Naruto rolled his eyes. "Oh, cut the crap. You don't even believe that yourself anymore. If I just wanted your power, do you think I'd be standing here talking to you?"

Kurama didn't respond. He knew Naruto had a point.

Naruto crossed his arms. "Alright, fine. Let me show you something."

With that, Naruto's Rinnegan spun, and suddenly, Kurama's vision blurred as a flood of memories entered his mind.

He saw Naruto during the Fourth Great Ninja War, standing before him and saying, "You're not the Nine-Tails demon fox anymore. You're my friend. Just like everyone in Konoha, you're one of my most cherished companions."

Then he saw their true unification—Kurama freely giving his power, helping Naruto achieve Kurama Mode. Naruto fought, while Kurama rampaged alongside him.

Another memory surfaced.

He saw Sasuke standing inside his body, covering him in the Susanoo armor. The sheer audacity of that brat made Kurama's tails twitch.

Then more memories flashed—Kurama fighting alongside Naruto against Six Paths Obito, willingly mixing his chakra with those stupid toads, and even handing over his chakra to the Allied Shinobi Forces.

And then—

Kurama watched, horrified, as he was forcibly ripped from Naruto's body.

For the first time in centuries, he felt his heart tighten. Because he knew… if that happened, Naruto would die.

Then he saw himself sealed inside the Gedo Statue. His body cold. His mind screaming.

And then—

He saw Hagoromo, the Sage of Six Paths.

Kurama's breath hitched. "Old man…"

The Sage smiled at him, just like he had all those centuries ago.

Kurama reached out instinctively, but time refused to stop. The memories continued, showing his reunion with Naruto, the tailed beasts recognizing their Jinchūriki as comrades, and at the very end…

Kurama saw himself looking at Naruto, uncertain but hopeful.

And in reality, at that very moment, he realized—

He was looking at Naruto the exact same way.
