Chapter 27 — Sharon POV
Liam was in the kitchen behind me, preparing lunch like he always did. He's always been better at cooking than me, and honestly, I loved that about him. I smiled. My baby. My love . My husband. My partner. I love him so much.
I sat on the couch, flipping through channels on the TV, not really paying attention, just wanting background noise. Until—
"Breaking News!" flashed across the screen.
David Likons. The reporter from DAY TV. Live.
The screen switched to a video—Lana, in her elegant blue dress, standing on a quiet street… and then raising her hand.
SLAP.
Another SLAP.
And the camera zoomed in on the victim—a girl with short hair, familiar… too familiar even .
My body froze. My mouth went dry.

Julia.
No… it was Julia. Different haircut, new vibe… but it was her.
And Lana being caught on live broadcast—doing that?
It was the end.

Her career. Gone.
Her Father will ignore her .

I didn't understand. Lana had everything. Why this obsession with Julia? What was her plan? Why risk everything?
But then it hit me.
Scarlett.
Lana always hated Julia. But Scarlett? Scarlett was the real threat.
Maybe Lana was right about one thing—Julia knows where Scarlett is hiding.
But now? None of that mattered.
The Queen of Scandal was finished. Parties, rumors,lovers , cheating scandals—they could all be buried. But physical assault? On camera? In public? This was career suicide.
Her father must be furious… Poor Lana. She never knew when to stop.
The smell of something burning yanked me back to reality. I turned, eyes wide.
"LIAM!"
The eggs in the pan were blackening, smoke curling up from the skillet. Liam was standing there, motionless, staring at the TV, his knuckles white as he gripped the counter.
I rushed over, turning off the heat, waving the smoke away. "Baby liam , come on. Focus. It's okay."
He looked at me, eyes hollow with panic. "It's Scarlett. It's all her. She just destroyed Lana's life, what if she destroy mine or worst yours ..."
I took his hand, steadying him, grounding him. "Babe, listen to me. We're going to be okay. No one's going to connect us to that mess. No one knows what you did. I won't let anyone hurt you. I swear."
I tilted his chin up, making him look at me.
That's when we heard David's voice again from the TV:
"And rumors are starting to resurface about Lana's involvement in a notorious high school bullying ring—The Queens and Kings."
Liam stumbled backward, his whole body trembling. "They know… they know…we're cooked " His breathing came in sharp gasps.
"Stop! , liam stop" I shouted. "Breathe, Liam! No one knows everything! And even if they find out—it was just kids being stupid. It's nothing now we changed ..."
He sat down heavily at the kitchen table, head in his hands. "What about us, Sharon? The things we did to those girls? Scarlett… Julia… We're finished."
"No," I snapped. "We are not finished. I'm Sharon Calloway. You are Liam Calloway. And we have Jason. He's still with us. We're strong. We'll get through this."
Liam lifted his head slowly. "And Lana?"
I paused, my jaw tightening. "Poor Lana… She'll need a break. Maybe a long one. She always had problems. Her father will handle her. But this? This is between us now. Just us."
I stood tall, fire building in my chest.
"Scarlett Prescott," I whispered through gritted teeth, "I swear on my life—you'll regret the day you were born."
