Chapter 30 - Chapter 29 – Scarlett POV

Chapter 29 – Scarlett POV

Two weeks had passed since Lana's scandal broke. I continued playing my role as Letty—the perfect secretary at Best Auto society . Working along side Sharon and Liam, day after day, pretending nothing had changed. And for now, they didn't suspect a thing. Good.

But Julia… I hadn't spoken to her since that night the betrayel that she must feel becase of me .... After what I did, after what I risked for my revenge… how could I face her? Apologies felt like ashes in my mouth.

Cause julia was my only ally and i sold her ...

Fun fact to you if you don't know yet julia was the one that aford me money for this revenge era ...

As for Lana, she was drowning. Public backlash, legal charges, media tearing her apart, lawyers circling like vultures. Her career wasn't just cracked—it was shattered.

And Jason?

Jason asked me on a date today.

A date.

Of all times.

But I had to play the role. Letty, the sweet secretary girlfriend. Not Scarlett, the vengeful ghost.

He told me not to wear black this time. "Something bright," he said. So I chose burgundy. Almost red. Still dark, still me.

He planned a picnic. Cute, right? Sweet date. As if we were just any couple, not two people orbiting a ticking time bomb of secrets and lies.

20:00. Sunset picnic.

I wore the dress, paired with sneakers to be comfortable. Casual, but with a blade underneath the silk, metaphorically speaking.

When I arrived at the park, my breath caught. It was beautiful. Twinkling fairy lights strung through the trees, soft blankets spread out with trays of food—pasta, pizza, hamburgers, salad, drinks, even cake. Like something out of a rom-com.

And him. Jason, standing there in his laid-back, casual clothes, but still radiating that effortless "old money" elegance. His green eyes sparkled when they landed on me.

"Letty," he smiled, "finally. Not a black dress. You look incredible in red."

I smiled, amused. "It's burgundy, actually."

He laughed softly. "You girls and your color shades. To me, it's red."

"Fine. It's red," I teased. "If you say it's red, then it's red."

I sat down on the blanket, crossing my legs. He sat beside me, close enough that his shoulder brushed mine.

We ate. We talked. About work, stupid movies, random gossip, everything and nothing.

And then… Lana.

"Did you see what happened to her?" he asked quietly. "It's brutal."

"Maybe she deserved it," I murmured, avoiding his gaze. "If she really was as bad as they say."

Jason paused, his fork halfway to his mouth. "I get it, but… it was savage. Even for Lana."

I said nothing. My fingers clenched around the soft fabric of my dress.

And then Jason shifted closer, his voice low. "Letty… is there something you're not telling me?"

I looked up quickly, feigning confusion. "What do you mean?"

"Don't play games," he whispered. "Is there something else going on? With Sharon? With… you?"

I forced a smile. "No, babe. I'm just working, like always. Sharon's tense, yeah, but it's nothing serious."

Jason stared into my eyes, searching.

"Are you sure?" he asked again, voice barely above a whisper.

"Of course," I said, heart pounding. "I'm fine."

He didn't blink. His hand reached up, gently cupping my chin, tilting my face toward his.

"I would burn the world for you," he murmured. "Even knowing you came here to burn mine. Because those eyes—I'd recognize them anywhere. Even if everything else about you changed… those eyes stayed the same. Same pretty black eyes , same as scarlett eyes ! ."

My heart dropped.

"Wait… who is Scarlett?" I tried weakly.

He smiled sadly. "Don't insult my intelligence. I knew from the start. Day one. You changed, but not those eyes. You can use me, Scarlett. Destroy me, ruin me—I don't care. I'll still help you. I'll still want you."

The world felt like it shifted under my feet. Everything I planned, every lie I built, and yet…

He knew. And still, he chose me.

Me.

Scarlett prescott.

I didn't know whether to run… or fall into his arms.

But I sat there, trembling, not knowing whether this was victory—or defeat.
