Chapter 37 - Leader of the North

Lautaro was assaulted by the cameras and flashing lights. There were so many people almost every person in their school had seen the event. He had defeated the former leader of the north, Macell, and now he was in charge. And everyone liked that.

Could Macell have been that bad of a gang leader that almost everyone cheered him when he won? He would answer all the questions later, but for now, it was time to bask in praise and glory.

Many people had small microphones as if they were reporters. They cheerily approached him and asked him many questions.

"Lautaro, how do you feel after defeating Macell, the former king of the north?"

Lautaro smiled and stated.

"How I feel? I feel awesome after defeating that dollar store mafia boss. Though he did put up a good fight. I simply just outdid him."

After the first response, the reporter was shoved out of the way. Then came another.

"Is it true that you want to unite all of the direction highschools."

"That's the plan."

The girl who asked the question was pushed under a crowd of people. And once again, a new reporter came.

"Are you going to make Macell and his gang a part of your gang?"

Lautaro looked up to the sky and touched his chin. Then he came up with the answer.

"Yes, I will. Macell is very strong. Although he lost to me twice, he still defeated me, and that's something barely anyone can do."

Lautaro thought they same sequence was going to happen to the reporter, but he was stronger than the others and managed to ask another question.

"When you say 'that's something barely anyone can do', are you stating that nobody can defeat you?"

Lautaro snapped back.

"The question's a bit of a reach, but I'm glad you asked. Nobody can defeat me."

After the statement, the crowd screamed and howled in a sort of agreement. Many reporters tried to ask questions, but he could hear nothing over the overlapping noise. Then, a loud voice rung out from the back.

"Will you keep the name of the west the same or will you change it, and if you do decide to change it, what will you change it to?"

Lautaro heard the question over the loud voices and said.

"Good question. If I had to decide... no, I will not keep the name the same."

Lautaro could see the mafia of Macell and saw how their faces sunk and frowned.

"But if I had to choose a name I'd choose, New Genesis. Yea, that sounds right."

Lautaro could soon hear the chants of his new gang name. He had to honor his friend somehow. He wondered how Genesis was doing but knew that he was Genesis, aura incarnate. He would be better than fine.

Plus New Genesis was a pretty good name. Lautaro thought of what Macell had named it before, probably something dumb.

Lautaro was shot with a barrage of questions. One after another it didn't stop then he flipped onto the wall, leading the crowd closer to him, then he jumped over all of them.

Most of them joined on the chase to take pictures of the rare Lautaro in his natural habitat. Some of them took their time and took pictures of Macell who was now gathering consciousness. He was assaulted by the cameras until his mafia escorted him away but Lautaro wasn't too lucky.

He wanted to run to his house but realized that it would be the worst possible option. His mom would probably ask why there are so many people outside of her house and Lautaro would be forced to tell her the truth or lie that would earn him a firm talking or a whooping, most definitely the latter.

He ran through the park as some of them started to show signs of tiring out. He ran around the lake. The birds chirped as he passed, then they fled as the paparazzi came rushing through. The bushes were getting trampled as some even fell into the lake.

"Highschool gangs should NOT be this popular."

Lautaro muttered to himself as tried to exit the lake but was cut off by other people. They closed in, choking him. He performed a back flip then skipped across their heads. The people who stepped quite literally fainted. And the people around them started to collect the dirt from their head.

It was then Lautaro knew something had to be wrong. His night and sun eyes flashed across the scene, they scanned to find any anomaly. He tried to find any mind hexing shaman or mind controlling mole but there was nothing. The people had simply just lost their sanity.

Even so this felt so wrong. It didn't feel like a mastermind pulling the strings. It felt like this problem was everywhere and Lautaro knew it was connected to gangs. It also explained why some houses looked incredibly rich and others like they were dirt poor, there was rarely an in-between.

He ran to the other exit of the park and ran. He thought he had gotten away until he ran into a girl with a camera. She wanted to call out to her paparazzi crew but Lautaro put a finger on her mouth and made her face him.

She had pale, light skin and light hazel hair. Her eyes were a light brown. As a shirt she wore a white tight shirt and tight long leggings. She had light beautiful freckles scattered around her cheeks.

"You don't have tell them anything. It's just me and you, all you need is me, right? Pictures of me atleast."

The girl seemed to take his words to heart and actually listened.

"I'll give you all the me you want if you just let me go."

She began to mutter her words.

"You're right all I need is you."

"See now you're starting to understand. Just keep the picture of me to yourself and nobody else. Nobody else needs to see the pictures. Isn't that right?"

"You're right! You're so right!"

The girl now sounded crazed and pressed herself against Lautaro, on a normal day Lautaro might have liked it but now there was no time.

"Y-Yea you'll just take the pictures and I'll be on my way."

"But you said that you'll give me all the you I want? You didn't lie to me right?"

The girl pressed herself against him even more as she was now a bright red. Lautaro turned his face away from her as she was getting to close to him.

"I didn't mean that literally. I just meant-"

She cut him off and spoke crazily.

"But y-you said that I just need you? You said that right?"

Lautaro had to improvised if he didn't want to be discovered.

"You lied to me. I'll tell everyone."

She turned around and put her hand over her mouth to scream but Lautaro simply apologized before knocking her out. Lautaro was on his way home after evading the crowds of crazed people until when he was at the final turn he saw someone.

'Not another. Please not another.'

Lautaro thought as he tried to sneak by but the guy called him out. And Lautaro looked at him, really looked at him. He found out this guy was not a reporter he had character and nice clothes. And suddenly Lautaro wished this guy were a reporter.

"Hello Lautaro. I am Harvest."

"Like the plants?"

Lautaro said in a sort of degrading manner.

"What are you doing near my house?"

Lautaro questioned fiercely.

The boy was tall but not as tall as Macell maybe only 6 feet. He wore an ivory long shirt with buttons. It was formal. He had a black tie flowing down his shirt. Instead of having the black vest outside he wore it under his snow white shirt.

His under half was drenched in black. He wore black formal shoes that had no laces, just brand names. He wore long pants that were a void black. His hair was slicked back and at the back it was curly and long, but not as long as a mullet. He had two tufts of hair that were at the side of his head and one almost strand of hair that shone infront of his forehead. His hair was an empty black.

His eyebrows were thin but prominent. His facial features were beautiful. With a sharp jawline and good enough nose. He smirked a sort of mischievous smile all the time. His eyes were a light grey. Adding even more to his empty demeanor. He had an overcoat hung over his shoulder and despite the wind it did not fall off. Lautaro really wished he was a reporter.

"I'm here to say a few things about your recent achievement."

"Those include?"

"As the leader of the east I came here to say that it is dangerous to overtake one of the leaders. You see when a person overtakes one of the four major directions there will be violence. It is just tradition that some of the directions will attack the new leader. A test not only to his strength but many other factors aswell."

Lautaro stood quietly processing the situation.

"So is that a threat?"

Harvest snapped back.

"Do you take it as one?"

Lautaro stood quietly he wanted to attack these guy and just be done with it but he was infront of his house his mother might see it. Plus there was a sort of aura around Harvest. A cold, unforgiving aura. Then Lautaro wondered if he came from the World of Evolution himself but the question aside.

"So are you here just to warn me about the inevitable danger?"

"Yes, yes I am."

Holy, Lautaro said the word "inevitable" without stuttering once. Lautaro locked in when he needed to.

Then he asked a classic question akin to his nature.

"It's so windy how does that thing not fall off your shoulders?"

"Now you question me of things even I do not know."

Harvest said his smirk turned into a joking one.

"But anyways watch your back. When I overthrow the previous leader of the east I was betrayed by one of the former members and almost lost it all. So watch your back."

"Macell or his mafia would never do that."

"I know I'm just saying. You never know. So that's a wrap I'll take my leave and go."

Harvest walked past Lautaro and gave him a pat on the back before wishing.

"Sincerly, good luck, Lautaro."

And just like that Harvesy was gone. Then Lautaro went inside his thoughts.

'Isn't that just a richer version of Macell? But even so why was he so scary? It doesn't make any sense the only explanation I have is that he must be from the World of Evolution. Or his cologne has a secret frequency of scent that makes you fear him and that is how he took over the east. That's got to be it.'

Lautaro then escaped his stupid thoughts and dived behind a bush when he saw a member of the paparazzi come. When that one came a whole horde of them came then they started to something strange.

They started to inspect the ground with all sorts of equipment. They crowded around each other as they spoke.

"Here! There's a trace of Lautaro here let's follow it."

It was insane but luckily they followed the trail from the way he came. And somehow Harvest didn't leave any trails, Lautaro did not know how he had done it but he had and he thanked him for that. As Harvest probably experienced a similar thing when he was leader. But of what Lautaro knew of his he'd just let them take all the pictures of him and his devilish smirk.

But now it was time to go home. Once Lautaro checked the area and realized that there was nobody there he dashed to his house and opened the door and quick as possible, almost swinging it off its rusty hinges and once he was on the other side he collapsed, head against the door he stared at the crumbling ceiling.

He was home.
