"What exactly is your job, Athen?" Aryan asked sharply after returning home, fixing his secretary/manager with a tired stare. "How could someone responsible for me be so careless—letting me end up drunk and leave me there."
Athen kept his head down. "I'm sorry, sir," he muttered. He knew he'd messed up. He should have been more alert, more cautious. What if the person Aryan had run into last night had been a reporter—or worse, a creep?
Just then, a soft voice interrupted the tension.
"Brother..." Alisha stepped into the room without even changing out of her school uniform and flung herself into Aryan's arms. "I'm back!" she chirped, planting a kiss on his cheek.
Aryan's stern expression softened instantly. He let Athen off the hook for now—he had no intention of scolding anyone in front of his little sister.
"How was your day, princess?" he asked, settling her comfortably on his lap.
