Chapter 99 - Sudden Crisis

"That guy again, wait, you said the previous person. How did it go between you two?"

Hearing Spider-Man's words, Tohka suddenly remembered that he had probably met that chatterbox.

"Don't mention it, it was my first time meeting someone who talks that much. My god, he almost drove me crazy. Also, you know that guy?"

Hearing Tohka's words, Spider-Man immediately put both hands on his head and howled up at the sky. But he quickly realized that Tohka seemed to know that guy too.

"Yeah, just a mercenary. He contacted me before, seemed like he was trying to promote himself. In short, he's a chatterbox,, and most of what he says is totally off-topic."

Hearing Spider-Man's words, Tohka didn't hide anything and straightforwardly admitted she knew Deadpool.

"You get it then! It was the first time I met someone so damn talkative. My God, someone like that deserves divine punishment."

Alright, after hearing Tohka's reply, the little spider once again howled at the sky. But Tohka was speechless because he seemed to have cursed himself too.

"Forget it, I'm leaving, be careful."

Complaints aside, Tohka didn't want to listen to Spider-Man's nonsense anymore. Honestly, he and Deadpool were about the same, just that Spider-Man's words had a little more logic.

But that didn't mean she wanted to listen, so with a burst of speed, she left.

"Yeah, she's gone. Forget it, I'll head home too, otherwise Aunt May and Uncle Ben will start worrying."

Spider-Man, who originally wanted to say something more, realized Tohka was already gone. He could only helplessly swing on his web toward his home.

After all, even though he was a hero, he still kept it a secret from his family, unlike Tohka, who could act freely. Besides,

Tohka's guardian was even crazier; even now with some restraint, Spider-Man still often saw her in the tabloids. Of course, his connection with Tony had never been cut off—he had to admit, Tony had given him a lot of guidance.

"Hmm, wonder how the negotiation between Nick Fury and Tony went."

Back in her room, Tohka remembered what had happened a few days ago. But to her surprise, after that day, Nick Fury never contacted her again, apparently busy negotiating something with Tony.

Tohka didn't really care; after all, it had little to do with her. Plus, she had a feeling that once she used that "thing," something very interesting would happen.

Thus, a few peaceful school days passed. But one had to admit, because of different circumstances, if Spider-Man's identity were exposed, it would cause a huge uproar, but it was different for Tohka and Tony.

Their identities were already publicly known, yet so far, they hadn't encountered any major troubles.

"Right, Harry, how are things over there? Especially since the other night, we had a huge battle at your company's tower. Is everything okay now?"

Today, Tohka finally remembered that she and others had fought a battle on top of Oscorp Tower, so she wanted to ask about what happened afterward.

"Don't mention it, it was a disaster."

Saying so, Harry helplessly rubbed his forehead. Even though he was still a high schooler, his father had already started involving him in the company's affairs.

As for whether Tony would involve her, Tohka expressed zero interest. Besides, Tony was too lazy to care about the company anyway, leaving it entirely to Pepper, only stepping in for things she couldn't handle.

Honestly, the difference between him and Oscorp was pretty big. Well, whatever. Harry sighed, "You guys had fun fighting, but you destroyed the top of Oscorp Tower and the surrounding facilities too."

"That's not the worst part; the police temporarily took control of the site and transported away a bunch of giant lizards. It made it impossible for us to resume operations for several days."

"Whatever, even though that's your headquarters, it's not where you manufacture or sell products. It only delayed some research projects. You could treat it like giving your employees a little vacation. I bet it didn't cause much loss." Shrugging nonchalantly, Tohka replied.

"True, those few days my father actually had time to spend with me."

Hearing Tohka's words, Harry smiled in satisfaction. Obviously, Norman Osborn still held an important place in Harry's heart.

No matter how ruthless Norman's methods were, as a father, he was relatively qualified. At least, in Harry's eyes, he was a role model.

"Oh, then—hmm?"

Just as Tohka was about to say something else, she noticed her phone ringing. Opening it, she saw a familiar number—it was Nick Fury, who had been silent for days.

"Sorry, I have to take a call."

Saying this to Harry, Tohka walked out to a quieter place in the school hallway.

"Hello, Director Fury?"

"Yeah, it's me."

At this moment, Nick Fury's somewhat low voice came through the phone.

"Our equipment is ready now, no more testing needed. Tonight you can come straight to the base, and we'll start the experiment."

"Hmm? You negotiated with Tony already? From what I know, that guy isn't easy to compromise with."

Hearing this, Tohka suddenly became interested. Ever since Tony threw his company to Pepper, he had been hiding at home. Most news reports about him were just rumors. In reality, he had been frantically working on his armor.

"Hmph."

Hearing Tohka's words, Nick Fury snorted before continuing, "That guy doesn't move until he sees benefits. He insisted on participating."

"But because something else happened recently, I didn't have time to argue with him. Let's just get today's experiment done quickly; I still have more important matters to handle."

"Eh? What other important matters?"

Hearing Nick Fury's words, Tohka's eyes lit up with curiosity. She remembered that, according to the movies, there didn't seem to be anything major happening around this time.

Captain America, maybe? But that shouldn't be urgent. After all, that big soldier was relatively easy to negotiate with. No need for such urgency.
