Chapter 50 - Four Days of Growth

As the lightning erupted from Lizarius's body, it struck the screeching owl. The screech abruptly ceased as the lightning subsided, revealing the owl's lifeless form, steam rising from its charred black feathers. Lizarius, still invisible, held the corpse in his mouth, thinking, It's dead. I thought it might be stronger than that monkey. He beat his wings, flying to a nearby tree.

Landing on the branch, Lizarius wasted no time and began to devour the owl. Two minutes later, he had finished.

Lizarius licked the blood from his mouth, raised his head, and jumped, beating his wings to climb higher up the tree. Reaching a sturdy branch, he curled up, closed his eyes, and said to the system, "Fuse genes." He drifted off to sleep.

The scene changed to morning.

System: Fusion complete.

Lizarius, still invisible, stood on the tree branch, spread his wings, and flew upwards, soaring out of the trees and away.

Four days later, the sun shone, reflecting off the stream. In a part of the forest, multiple chimpanzee bones littered the ground. Lizarius, now visible and at Rank 9 early finished eating the last chimpanzee corpse, licking the blood from his mouth.

Lizarius thought, I still haven't seen any Rank 9 beasts, and it's like there's no end to this stream. He slowly turned invisible, beat his wings, and flew off.

After a while, Lizarius, still flying, heard a noise. What's that? Looking ahead, he saw the end of the stream. The water's end. I finally reached it. He beat his wings faster.

A few seconds later, Lizarius, still invisible, hovered above a massive waterfall with a large lake beneath. I've never seen so muchwater. He beat his wings, flying upwards, slowly becoming visible. There might be lots of beasts inside. There might even be a Rank 9 beast inside. Now fully visible, Lizarius dove down, plunging into the lake.
