"Do you still remember me?"
"Will you walk with me and fight for me?"
Paul stepped in front of Aggron, gazing at it calmly as he asked.
"Grooarrr~"
Aggron let out a low growl and nodded slightly, showing its approval without hesitation.
Over the past few days, it had learned a lot about Paul from other Pokémon and Reggie. Setting aside his decisive, cold, and strict nature, Paul was undeniably a skilled trainer who genuinely cared for his Pokémon.
Most importantly, Paul had a unique approach to training and nurturing his Pokémon.
Aggron had spent years in the wild, growing from a tiny Aron into the formidable Pokémon it was today, enduring countless battles and hardships along the way. But even after all that effort, none of Paul's Pokémon were weaker than it.
Even Drapion, a Poison-type with an apparent disadvantage in strength had managed to defeat it with precise stat boosts from Acupressure.
That alone was proof of Paul's abilities.
Survival of the fittest. Strength is everything. The strong follows the stronger.
Was there anything wrong with that?
"Good. I'll teach you moves better suited to your strengths, develop a more effective training regimen, and adjust your diet accordingly."
Paul made a simple promise.
When it came to move selection, Aggron would benefit from learning powerful impact-based attacks that took advantage of its immense defense.
As for training, it would involve high-intensity workouts to accelerate growth by efficiently converting energy intake into raw strength.
And how does one obtain more energy and nutrients?
By investing in premium Pokémon food, of course.
With specially formulated Pokéblocks infused with easily absorbed minerals, Aggron would grow even faster.
Wild Pokémon often took longer to develop compared to those trained by a competent Trainer due to two key factors: diet and training.
Without an optimized training method, a wild Pokémon would also have to spend significant time searching just to survive. Simply finding enough food to eat was already a challenge—eating well was a luxury beyond reach.
"Grooarrr~"
Aggron understood this all too well and roared with determination.
"Good. From now on, all of you have a common training objective. Master this first before moving on to anything else."
At Paul's words, every Pokémon turned to him, intrigued.
Apart from the usual battle training and endurance exercises, what kind of training could be useful for all Pokémon?
"Come out, Wyrdeer."
Paul tossed a Hisuian-style Poké Ball into the air, and in the next moment, a gray Wyrdeer landed on the ground.
"Uhh…"
The instant it appeared, Wyrdeer froze under the intense gazes of all the Pokémon, too nervous to make a move.
"Wyrdeer—Stantler's evolved form. Just like Ursaluna, it's no longer found in modern-day Sinnoh."
"It evolves by using Psyshield Bash in the Agile Style a certain number of times."
"And your training objective is to develop your own version of 'Agile Style' based on Wyrdeer's technique."
"If you master this, you'll gain the ability to attack unpredictably, catching opponents off guard."
In essence, Agile Style was a unique burst technique that prioritized speed over raw power, sacrificing some attack potency and secondary effects in exchange for a sudden, overwhelming acceleration.
The Pokémon weren't foolish. The moment Paul explained, they immediately understood the importance of learning this technique. Their eyes lit up as they locked onto Wyrdeer.
"There's not much time—start training immediately."
In just a couple of days, Professor Rowan and a research team from Veilstone City would arrive at the Pokémon facility to study Stantler's evolution and evaluate Ursaluna's evolution potential.
"I'm counting on you, Wyrdeer."
Paul nodded at it.
"Uhh…"
Wyrdeer wanted to refuse and simply walk away. But after seeing the eager eyes of the surrounding Pokémon, it knew that unless it left behind something valuable, it wouldn't be allowed to walk out of this area unharmed.
Wyrdeer began demonstrating and explaining everything it knew, allowing the others to observe and learn.
Of course, Agile Style wasn't something that could be applied to just any move. Only Pokémon with a deep understanding of their own techniques could truly master it.
But that wasn't a problem.
Other Pokémon needed to master a specific move to evolve—Paul's Pokémon only needed to learn the burst technique behind it. Once they understood the method, they could apply it to any move whenever the situation called for it.
A Few Days Later…
Time passed quickly. Since returning to the Pokémon facility, several days had already gone by.
On this day, Paul stood in a grassy field, silently staring at three slabs of stone—one purple, one gold, and one emerald green—lying on the ground.
The Plates were valuable, no doubt. But without a way to fully utilize them, they were frustratingly useless.
If possible, Paul would have preferred battle-worn, damaged versions of these Plates—at least those could be absorbed by his Pokémon to gradually enhance their power.
"Target the Plate and practice Frenzy Plant and Solar Beam. Don't let it hit the ground."
Paul casually tossed the Emerald Plate into the air.
"Raaaa!"
The Torterra beside him immediately sprang into action.
Thick, hardened vines erupted from the ground, launching attack after attack at the airborne Plate. Between waves of Frenzy Plant, powerful Solar Beams shot forward, ensuring the Plate remained suspended in midair while enduring relentless strikes.
As Torterra trained, Paul climbed onto its back, pulling out a large pair of pruning shears.
As he carefully trimmed the overgrown branches on Torterra's shell, he simultaneously monitored the training of his other Pokémon.
By now, the Hisuian Pokémon had adapted to life at the Pokémon facility and were cooperating with the researchers for documentation and analysis.
After the other Pokémon had successfully learned Agile Style, Wyrdeer had been thoroughly discarded by the team and handed over to the scientists as a key research subject.
Paul also transferred Wyrdeer into a standard Poké Ball, keeping its Hisuian Poké Ball as a collector's item.
"Grooarrr~!"
"Ursaah~!"
On a sterile patch of land nearby, Aggron and Ursaluna clashed.
Apart from Torterra, they were the strongest in terms of raw attack and defense within Paul's team. Now, the two powerhouses were repeatedly colliding, using Headlong Rush and Heavy Slam to hone their new skills.
Each impact sent shockwaves rippling across the area, the deafening booms echoing for hundreds of meters.
Nearby, Ninetales and Gallade sparred fiercely. Wearing specialized training gear, their iron-hard tails and razor-sharp blades clashed in rapid succession, their attacks striking from angles so precise and unpredictable that they left no room for error.
Meanwhile, Electivire darted between Drapion and Garchomp, its golden form flickering across the battlefield as it delivered relentless electric blows.
On another side of the field, Metagross and Froslass trained together.
Paul had created a psychic locking technique for Metagross—by using Lock-On or psychic control, it could pin down an opponent before unleashing a devastating attack. The idea was to ensure that once Metagross locked onto a target, there would be no escape.
Froslass, on the other hand, focused on disrupting Metagross with illusions, Double Team, Snow Cloak, and various status-inflicting moves to break free from its control.
The battles raged on, filling the training grounds with the sounds of clashing techniques, roaring Pokémon, and an unyielding pursuit of strength.
