She had just reached the doorway when she heard the faint sound of coughing from inside.
Xiang Ying hadn't even spoken when Jie Chen keenly noticed someone outside the door.
"Do not come in, if there's anything, ask the Monkey," he said.
Jie Chen's voice carried a light hoarseness as he spoke.
Xiang Ying hesitated for a moment: "It's me. Tao Xue just made some lamb soup, and I brought you a bowl."
There was a brief silence inside, then Jie Chen quickly replied: "Thank you, but no need."
Xiang Ying leaned against the door frame: "I'll just put the lamb soup inside and leave."
"No need," Jie Chen suppressed his cough, his voice becoming restrained, "I'm not hungry. You eat it."
However, Xiang Ying was already trying to push the door open, only to find that it wouldn't budge.
Most likely Jie Chen had bolted it from the inside.
She thought for a moment and said: "Fine, then I'll leave the lamb soup on the floor. If it's convenient, come out and take it. I'll go back now."
