Astraea's POV
I wasn't exactly in the mood to play nursemaid, but after everything that had happened, I figured I should at least try to be civil.
Draven had gone quiet after our conversation, which was his way of showing how disappointed he was in me. He didn't need to say it because his silence was again more than enough. Still, I figured food might help.
Humans needed it. Zephyra especially looked like she could use some strength, and I didn't want her collapsing the next time she woke up screaming her lungs out.
Balancing the tray with one hand, I pushed the door open and stepped into the room, and what I saw made my blood run cold for half a second and then boil over the next.
Zephyra was awake, barely standing, and clearly still recovering, but that wasn't what caught me off guard.
Standing in front of her, like she had every right to be here, was Valkyrie Vaelthar.
