Zephyra's POV
My head was pounding, no, splitting, like someone was digging through my brain with a blunt knife. I winced the moment I opened my eyes, a groan slipping out before I could stop it. It hurt to blink. It hurt to breathe. It hurt to even exist.
I stayed still, every part of me frozen in place, afraid that if I moved even a little, my skull might actually crack open. I'd never felt anything like this before. Not from being hit, not from crying too long, and not even from the worst migraines after skipping meals. This was different. This was…wrong.
For a moment, I just lay there, hoping, begging, for the pain to dull. My fingers twitched, and I took it slow, trying to remember what had even happened, and then it came back in pieces.
