Chapter 60 - Cry

Aaron pulled himself from his guards and rushed towards the ER. The door swung open. Nobody stopped him. The doctors and nurses moved aside to give him space. He can't be in the room without protective clothes but they allowed him. One factor looked at the flatline on the monitor. The last beep sounded before it went completely flat.

They excuse themselves to give Aaron time with her. They've tried what they could do but it was no use.

" Mina, Mina. Please ." Aaron fell to his knees beside her.

He held her cold hand, and he squeezed his as he placed his head on it.

" Please, baby. Don't leave us. The baby needs you, and I need you. I can't do this without you, baby."

Aaron wept on her hand. He got up from his knees and hugged her neck. She was motionless. Her face held no colour and her lips were purple.

" Please, please, Mina. I know I promised to be a better person, however, I haven't. But I swear. I swear I will do my best. I promise to cancel whatever contract I had with you. I miss you, baby. Please don't leave me." Aaron cried

Naarah stood beside the door. She bit her lower lip. Was her friend gone? There was a miracle. She believed in it.

" Mr. Vertecio, we need to move her." the doctor said to him

" Move her where? She is not dead. Where the hell are you sending her?" Naarah exclaimed.

She rushed to block the doctor who was getting closer to Mina and Aaron.

" We are begging Miss Williams, we..."

" To hell with this shit. Fuck y'all. She is just sleeping, we need to give her time to wake up."

Naarah yelled

Laughter echoed around her. Soft and sweet, like wind chimes in summer.

Mina stood in the field of golden light. Bare feet sank into the warmth. The kind that didn't burn her -but held her.

But then. A sound followed. Far off. And sharp. She looked around her but there was nothing.

She heard it again, however this time there was a cry.

Her neck felt heavy, like something was on it. Her neck felt wet. Her fingers travelled to her neck, and her smile dropped. She brought her fingers to her face.

" Tears?" she asked

Her eyes looked around, and she raised her head trying to figure out where it came from.

"Don't leave me. Princess. Please."

"Aaron?" she muttered to herself.

Her neck became wet with tears.

Her mother turned to look at her.

" What is it, baby?"

"Mom, Aaron. He is begging me. What happened to me?"

Her mother smiled at her as she moved towards her. She held her hands.

" Baby, you're dead."

" What? But?"

"Mina, darling, you're in a better place. You've wanted to be here. You belong here not there. They will get over you."

Maria said caressing her cheek.

Mina looked at her mom before her gaze travelled to her dad.

She had always yearned for this. For the peace and everything. This place feels warm, the kind of warm she craves, but the other side doesn't. It was full of destruction and hatred.

The cry became louder. Every cry followed a plea. And a promise.

She looked behind her, and the darkness she had left behind was in the light.

They needed her. Not only Aaron but Naarah too. And not to talk about their baby.

" They need me, Mom. He needs me."

Mina said.

" Are you sure you wanna go back, baby."

Mina took a deep breath before nodding.

Her mother smiled at her. She leaned in to peck her on the cheeks. Edward run to them and did the same.

" We love you and you'll always have a place here. Be safe."

Maria said before pushing her daughter into the darkness.
