Doctor Vanessa tilted her head sideways to look at Maria, who gave her an approving nod.
"Go ahead, tell them." Maria let out another depressing sigh.
"She's stable for now." Doctor Vanessa replied to Judith's questions while gesturing for everyone to sit down. She also took her seat opposite the troubled-looking family before explaining further.
"But I'm afraid things are not looking so good for her and her baby. She's been exposed to a lot of emotional and psychological stress, which is very detrimental to her pregnancy. If drastic measures aren't taken now, we may be looking at a miscarriage within a couple of weeks or even days based on my assessment."
"Ah!" A sharp gasp escaped Judith's cupped mouth.
"We can't let that happen, doctor." Senator Gregory half-screamed, jumping up to his feet.
"Senator, please calm down and take your seat." Doctor Vanessa said softly. "There is no cause for alarm yet because I used the word 'if'."
