Konoha Village.
Not far from the village entrance, a small forest hid a babbling stream that filled the air with the soothing sound of flowing water.
A young boy, chewing lazily on a blade of grass, lay sprawled on the ground, gazing gloomily up at the sky.
"Seriously, after all this time traveling to another world, not even a system to work with?"
"No system I can deal with, but being born into the Uchiha clan... that's basically a dead end."
Muttering indistinctly under his breath, the boy eventually pushed himself up and began his daily training.
He first spent some time refining his chakra, then practiced tree climbing and water walking — the most basic techniques, yet he threw himself into the training with genuine enthusiasm.
If he didn't think about the Uchiha clan's inevitable fate, he could honestly say he was quite happy.
After all, for an ordinary person, crossing over into the world of Naruto — a place filled with extraordinary powers — was nothing short of exhilarating.
He trained non-stop all afternoon. It wasn't until the sun was about to set that he finally took a break.
Gathering some firewood, he built a small campfire, skewered the fish he'd caught earlier on a branch, and began roasting them over the flames.
After sprinkling a bit of green onion and salt on the cooked fish, the boy wolfed them down hungrily.
"Thinking too far ahead won't do me any good. For now, getting stronger is the only path that matters."
"If things get bad, maybe I should find a childhood friend to set up a little 'awakening package'..."
As he silently plotted out his future, he got ready to pack up and head home.
But just then, a pitch-black space portal opened up in front of him.
Out of the portal stepped a man — Otsutsuki Urashiki — carrying a fishing rod and a basket filled with fish.
The boy's eyes widened in shock.
Wait, what...?
What the hell is Urashiki doing here?
Why would he show up at this point in time?
Seeing the boy's stunned expression, Urashiki's lips curled into a slight smirk.
"So you're Uchiha Mirai, huh? Finally found you."
"Even weaker than I expected. Killing you should be easy."
At those words, Uchiha Mirai froze — and then, unexpectedly, a wave of wild joy rose in his heart.
"You came here specifically for me?"
Urashiki paused, slightly thrown off, and reminded him coldly, "I'm here to kill you."
Mirai chuckled. "Kill me? That's fantastic!"
"You used the Karasuki to come here, hoping to take me out before I had a chance to grow, right?"
Urashiki's eyes went wide with shock, and he stammered, "Y-You—how do you know about that?!"
If this were the future timeline, he could understand Mirai knowing about him through Kaguya or Momoshiki. But this was over forty years in the past!
This brat, who still hadn't even grown into his full height, knew about him... and even recognized the artifact he'd just acquired!
What the hell was going on here?
"Urashiki, if you went out of your way to find me, that means the future me has already become someone you can't handle, right?"
Mirai said confidently.
He didn't know exactly what the future held, but based on this, it was clear he would live to see the Boruto era.
And not just survive — he would become strong enough to make even Urashiki deeply wary. Otherwise, Urashiki wouldn't have risked using the Karasuki to travel back in time just to eliminate him.
In that moment, all the dark clouds hanging over Mirai's heart seemed to vanish.
Urashiki's expression shifted between anger and unease.
It was bizarre. Unbelievably bizarre.
He could clearly sense how weak the boy in front of him was — his chakra reserves were so pitiful he'd probably struggle to cast even a few basic jutsu.
And yet, despite that, the boy not only knew everything about him but also wasn't even slightly afraid.
Urashiki couldn't make any sense of it.
"You little brat," he snapped. "Since you know who I am, you should understand my power."
"If I want to kill you, do you really think you can survive?"
Mirai gave a faint, confident smile.
"Since you're from the future, obviously it'll be the future me who deals with you."
"If I couldn't handle even this much, I wouldn't have made it this far."
If he managed to survive the Third Shinobi World War and the Uchiha Massacre, it meant he had enough power and time to grow.
As for Urashiki's time-traveling stunt — he definitely wouldn't have overlooked that possibility.
In other words, Urashiki could never succeed in killing him this way!
Seeing Mirai's calm, self-assured smile, Urashiki felt a sudden surge of rage.
"In that case... die!"
As Urashiki lunged toward him, Mirai simply leaned casually against a tree, arms crossed, his expression relaxed.
Just as Urashiki's attack was about to strike, another figure appeared out of nowhere.
A hand clamped tightly around Urashiki's throat.
"Uchiha Mirai?!"
"N-No way! How could you know exactly when I was coming through the portal?!"
Urashiki howled, his voice cracking.
For the first time, true fear took root in his heart.
From the moment he encountered Mirai, he'd felt completely out of his depth — as if he were trapped under the boy's shadow, no matter what he tried to do.
He couldn't understand it. Why did it feel like every move he made was already anticipated?
...
But Mirai didn't bother answering Urashiki's questions.
With a thought, he summoned a gray-white bone spear and drove it cleanly into Urashiki's body.
All-Killing Ash Bones!
Without the slightest resistance, Urashiki's body turned to ash and vanished, his soul wiped out at the same time.
Mirai turned to look at his younger self.
A strange, indescribable feeling stirred in his heart.
For a long moment, he didn't know what to say. Eventually, he spoke.
"Not bad. Even back then, I could maintain my composure in a moment like that."
After all, he had only crossed over into this world a few years ago — at this point, he was still practically powerless.
And yet, faced with someone like Urashiki, he hadn't flinched.
That kind of calmness... it was truly impressive.
But just as Mirai was feeling a bit proud, his younger self abruptly collapsed to the ground, legs giving out.
"Damn it, that scared the crap out of me! I thought I was dead for sure!"
"Hey! Could you not wait until the last second to show up next time?!"
Watching his younger self ranting, Uchiha Mirai couldn't help but burst into laughter.
He immediately understood exactly what the younger him was feeling.
It was just like his past life — back then, when he'd nearly gotten into a car accident, he always kept a calm face in front of his friends, but completely broke down in front of his girlfriend afterward.
It was exactly the same now.
Seeing Mirai laugh, young Mirai stopped complaining and asked curiously,
"Hey, how the heck did you get so strong?"
Mirai smiled faintly. "Just went through a bit of hardship, that's all."
