Scott shrugged helplessly. "Hard to say. These past two days, I've basically been pinned down and pummeled by Hope."
At first, when he realized Hope would be training him, he had been dismissive—he didn't believe she could beat him.
But reality proved him very wrong. Not only was he not Hope's match, but after taking a few punches, he had to admit something painful—his so-called agility meant nothing in front of her.
"And you actually have the nerve to say that out loud?" Hope shot Scott a cold glance before turning to face Alan, her expression darkening.
If she remembered correctly, it was Alan who had suggested to Hank that Scott should be trained.
"Alan, you know exactly how dangerous this mission is. And yet, you want him to join the Avengers?"
Hope didn't understand Alan's reasoning and questioned him directly—she needed to figure out what he was really planning.
"That's right. Didn't Dr. Hank explain everything to you?" Alan asked, wondering if Hope had inherited her father's stubbornness.
Gwen and Wanda stepped forward slightly. They could see the anger in Hope's eyes, as if she wanted to tear Alan in half.
But they chose not to interrupt the conversation just yet.
"I can't accept this, Alan. Do you dare to fight me one-on-one?" Hope refused to waste any more time.
She wanted to defeat Alan, get rid of Scott, and take matters into her own hands. If she was the one wearing the Ant Suit, she could steal the Wasp Suit herself.
That was better than entrusting such an important task to an outsider.
And she certainly had no interest in joining the Avengers—too much trouble. As long as she could beat Alan, she believed Hank would have no reason to oppose her wearing the Ant Suit.
"Are you joking?" Alan's eyes filled with disbelief. Was he hearing things?
What was going through Hope's mind that made her think she could challenge him to a fight?
Gwen and Wanda couldn't stay silent anymore. They spoke in unison, "No way. If you want a challenge, we're always ready to take you on."
They were saying this for Hope's sake—she had no idea who Alan truly was.
If she knew that the superhero praised by everyone—the legendary Emperor—was standing right in front of her, would she still be saying such ridiculous things?
Besides, Hope wasn't even Alan's match. Why ask for trouble?
"And why would I fight you two?" Hope was determined to provoke Alan into accepting her challenge.
Suddenly, she threw a punch, aiming directly at the corner of Alan's eye.
Scott had always known that Hope didn't particularly like him, but she still trained him out of duty.
"Hope, please calm down!" Scott didn't want her frustration with him to be redirected at Alan.
Unfortunately, his words were too slow to stop her.
However…
Hope's eyes widened in shock as she turned her head. Her hand was wrapped tightly in spider silk, and her body was completely immobilized.
Gwen and Wanda would never allow anyone to harm Alan.
Alan stood with his hands behind his back, unfazed. He hadn't expected Hope to be so reckless.
"Gwen, Wanda, let her go," Alan instructed.
Gwen kept a wary gaze on Hope. If it weren't for Alan's request, she wouldn't have let anyone who disrespected him off so easily.
