Chapter 193 - Chapter 193: Tamagawa Naoki's Crushing Defeat

Gliscor's wings fiercely slashed towards Breloom. Although the mushroom Pokémon reacted, its body couldn't evade swiftly enough; it was already too late.

From this encounter, it was evident that Gliscor's speed far surpassed Breloom's, making it extremely difficult to dodge its sudden attacks.

Lian shook his head; Breloom would be instantly defeated. Being a Grass and Fighting-type, it faced quadruple weakness against flying types. Considering Tyranitar's evolutionary level, if all three Pokemon had similar levels, Gliscor must have been at least Level 55 or higher. In contrast, Tamagawa Naoki's Pokemon were likely no more than mid-40s, creating a significant gap in power.

This opponent was much stronger than the previous trainer Lian faced. Despite having fewer Pokemon, their overall strength had significantly increased. Even Lian lacked confidence in countering such formidable adversaries.

As expected, after enduring Gliscor's Aerial Ace attack, Breloom crumpled to the ground, unable to rise again. The combination of quadruple weakness and overwhelming level disparity made sustaining the assault impossible.

As Breloom was defeated, Serperior's Leaf Storm, although dodged by Gliscor, continued unabated towards Tyranitar, which remained almost stationary.

The swirling leaves formed an intense energy storm, striking Tyranitar directly. As a Pseudo-legendary Pokemon, Tyranitar excelled in various aspects except for its speed; its heavy body led to sluggish movements, making it reluctant to mobilize frequently.

Despite continuous assaults from the Grass-type Leaf Storm, Tyranitar seemed largely unaffected, easily enduring the impact.

Tyranitar then opened its mouth wide, unleashing a burst of brilliant white light—a Normal-type Hyper Beam—directly aimed at Serperior.

For the slow-moving Tyranitar, Hyper Beam served as its primary long-range special attack. Although not a signature move, it still possessed astonishing power.

Boom!

Serperior took the full force of the Hyper Beam but managed to remain combat-ready. After struggling momentarily, it quickly regained its footing.

After firing the Hyper Beam, Tyranitar entered a brief immobilized state, which was one of the side effects due to the excessive energy burst, making it temporarily unable to execute other moves.

Tyranitar had several stronger attacks at its disposal, but for such a heavy and slow Pokemon, Hyper Beam proved more suitable. Most of its other moves required close proximity, which was impractical against Serperior unless the serpent willingly approached.

On the other side, Venusaur successfully released Sleep Powder. The sparkling dust landed on Drapion, effectively putting the Dragon-type to sleep.

Despite Drapion being asleep, it remained a two-on-two battle, with Gliscor posing a significant threat that put both Serperior and Venusaur at risk of defeat.

At this moment, Serperior, having just unleashed Leaf Storm, experienced an unexpected boost instead of weakening from overexerting energy, thanks to its Contrary Ability.

Serperior's body turned increasingly emerald green, becoming more slender and graceful, its proud head resembling that of a noble king.

Having defeated Breloom, Gliscor circled in the sky before swiftly attacking Serperior.

After hypnotizing Drapion, Venusaur immediately charged towards Tyranitar. Taking advantage of the Hyper Beam cooldown, it released Sleep Powder.

Sparkles and Sleep Powder once again filled the air, drifting towards Tyranitar. If this Sleep Powder hit, it would significantly benefit Tamagawa Naoki's strategy.

However, under the influence of Sandstorm weather, Venusaur's Sleep Powder was instantly swept away by the swirling sand, disappearing completely. The fierce Sandstorm also buffeted Venusaur's body, preventing the Sleep Powder from reaching Tyranitar at all.

With the ongoing Sandstorm, putting Tyranitar to sleep proved to be quite challenging.

The battle between Serperior and Gliscor had already commenced. With its enhanced strength, Serperior unleashed another Leaf Storm, undoubtedly more powerful than the previous one.

However, Serperior did not target Gliscor but instead released Leaf Storm towards Tyranitar. Having already endured one Leaf Storm earlier, Tyranitar might not be able to withstand this stronger attack.

Nevertheless, there was a high chance that Serperior would subsequently fall to Gliscor, leaving only Venusaur as Tamagawa's last Pokemon standing.

Tamagawa Naoki's expression turned grim; the disparity between their Pokemon was significant. His opponent could likely be one of the Dark Guild's executives. Without explicit commands, Gliscor demonstrated strategic prowess by feinting towards Serperior while aiming for Breloom—a clear indication that the gap extended beyond mere Pokemon strength.

With Breloom defeated and unable to counter Tyranitar, they now had to rely solely on Serperior to take it down.

"Serperior, evade Gliscor's attacks carefully! Venusaur, use Vine Whip to obstruct Gliscor!" Tamagawa Naoki commanded swiftly. The Sandstorm significantly hindered Sleep Powder dispersal, forcing Venusaur to attempt blocking Gliscor's assault with Vine Whip instead.

"They're about to lose," muttered Kalia, observing how Tamagawa Naoki started at a disadvantage from the beginning, further compounded after Breloom's defeat.

Kalia murmured to herself; Tamagawa Naoki had been at a disadvantage from the start of this battle, and with Breloom defeated, his chances dwindled further.

Serperior unleashed Leaf Storm towards Tyranitar. Gliscor would undoubtedly target Serperior next, while Drapion, though currently asleep, could awaken at any moment.

The green whirlwind of Leaf Storm swiftly moved towards Tyranitar, as Gliscor simultaneously flew toward Serperior for its attack.

Just then...

From the ground, Venusaur's Vine Whip suddenly shot out, aiming for Gliscor in mid-air. Although Vine Whip is generally a weaker move, when employed by Venusaur, it proved remarkably effective.

The Vine Whip securely ensnared Gliscor's scorpion tail, followed by a forceful pull that dragged Gliscor down immediately. This prevented Gliscor from executing its intended assault on Serperior, losing the optimal opportunity, just as Leaf Storm was heading straight for Tyranitar.

"Serperior, watch out!" Tamagawa Naoki suddenly yelled.

It turned out that Drapion had already awakened unnoticed and abruptly launched an attack on Serperior.

Being a Poison-type Pokemon, the consequences of Drapion getting close to Serperior were predictable. Drapion clamped down on Serperior with its venomous fangs.

Caught off guard by this sudden ambush, Serperior was directly hit by Drapion's Poison Fang move, quickly losing its ability to battle effectively.

"Darn it!" Tamagawa Naoki had been closely monitoring the fight, but no one anticipated that Drapion would feign unconsciousness only to launch a surprise attack moments later. This deceptive strategy mirrored the cunning nature of both the Pokemon and its trainer.

Tyranitar, after enduring Leaf Storm, suffered significant damage. However, despite the heavy blow, it remained standing, showcasing its exceptional defensive capabilities.

On the ground, Venusaur managed to restrain Gliscor momentarily with Vine Whip. But in the next instant, Gliscor's pincers easily snapped the vines apart.

Free from its restraint, Gliscor swiftly charged towards Venusaur, now the sole remaining opponent. With just one Pokemon left, Tamagawa Naoki's defeat seemed inevitable.
