Dynamax Machamp vs. Mega Shiny Gardevoir
It was a battle so intense that it felt like Mars colliding with Earth.
Master Keaton stared at Mega Shiny Gardevoir, momentarily dazed. He never expected his final opponent in this climactic battle to be Mega Shiny Gardevoir.
This was the most unique rival he had ever encountered in his life.
He never imagined that the last battle of his career as a Trainer would be so... brilliant!
"Hah!" Master Keaton took a deep breath. No matter who his opponent was, his burning desire to win as a Trainer would never waver!
Chris also lifted his head, deep in thought about the upcoming battle. Type advantage was important, but it didn't guarantee victory. He had to give it everything he had!
Their gazes locked, and they issued commands at the same time.
"Machamp, Bullet Punch!"
"Gardevoir, Calm Mind!"
Gigantic Machamp leaned forward, its massive body displaying surprising agility. All four of its fists gleamed silver as it unleashed a relentless flurry of punches toward Mega Gardevoir.
Chris stood behind Mega Gardevoir, watching as Dynamax Machamp's Bullet Punch came rushing in.
What kind of Bullet Punch was this? It looked more like a Missile Punch—no, a Cannonball Punch!
Each strike was enormous, almost the size of Chris himself.
As soon as Chris gave the command, Mega Gardevoir closed its eyes, calming its mind. Just as the Bullet Punch came crashing down, it raised its right hand and immediately teleported away from its spot.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The impact shattered the battlefield, causing deep cracks to spread toward the Trainer's area.
Chris had to step back quickly to avoid getting caught in the destruction.
"All reporters, move back a hundred meters!" Master Keaton's disciples rushed forward, pulling the reporters away from the danger zone.
If they didn't retreat now, and if the battle between Dynamax Machamp and Mega Gardevoir escalated further, there would be no energy shield to protect them in this open-air arena!
Even those reporters who wanted close-up shots were forcibly dragged away.
Meanwhile, Mega Gardevoir, having teleported, reappeared behind Machamp. It raised its hand and struck downward with force.
In that instant, a surge of Psychic energy erupted from Mega Gardevoir. Its blue hair and black dress fluttered wildly as its power surged.
Invisible to the naked eye, waves of psychic force rippled out from Mega Gardevoir's feet, dancing and lashing through the air.
"Psychic!"
Machamp reacted immediately. As Master Keaton's ace Pokémon, it had mastered the move Mind Reader.
With this ability, Machamp could see the otherwise invisible psychic spikes.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Bullet Punch clashed with the psychic force, creating a series of rapid explosions that echoed through the battlefield.
"Psychic Terrain!" Chris commanded once more.
At some point, another Mega Gardevoir appeared behind the colossal Machamp.
In an instant, Psychic energy erupted again, sending countless psychic spikes lashing out in a relentless assault.
"Substitute?" Master Keaton's breathing grew heavier as he frowned. He quickly issued another command. "Protect!"
Gigantic Machamp immediately responded, bringing its left and right arms together to create two shimmering barriers, blocking both Mega Gardevoirs' Psychic attacks.
Chris smirked slightly. This scene was familiar. When he had battled Teacher Vladimir, he had countered in the exact same way.
Facing this kind of defense again, Chris had already gained experience from the way Absorb had been countered in their last battle.
"Moonblast!" Chris commanded.
The two Mega Gardevoirs raised their hands toward the sky, their psychic energy withdrawing into them.
The vast grassland was momentarily shrouded in darkness as the moon grew even brighter. A hazy glow of Moonlight cascaded down, and from the moon itself, countless pink energy spheres formed.
A pink meteor shower rained down from the heavens.
It wasn't just a light drizzle this time—it was a full-on pink meteor storm!
"Wide Guard!" Master Keaton immediately called out.
Gigantic Machamp quickly crossed all four arms over its chest, summoning a barrier of rock-like energy that shielded it from the incoming attack.
Tap-tap-tap!!!
The pink meteors struck the rocky defense, making crisp yet oddly melodious sounds as they landed.
But just a second later, despite being shielded by Wide Guard, Machamp suddenly trembled violently as if being pelted by a rapid-fire machine gun.
It was countless Moonblasts—teleported past the barrier and landing directly on it!
The last time a Moonblast had been blocked by Wide Guard, Chris had learned his lesson.
This time, I'll teleport a whole bunch in. Let's see how you block them now!
Bang!
Wide Guard shattered from the inside out—a rare occurrence!
"Aura Sphere!" Master Keaton gasped, his voice sharp with urgency. Machamp was taking a beating, but it couldn't go down without a fight!
Despite the relentless Moonblasts striking its body, Gigantic Machamp gritted its teeth and launched an Aura Sphere with a powerful backhand throw.
And this wasn't just any Aura Sphere—thanks to its Dynamax-enhanced size, it was far beyond anything a normal Machamp or even a Hariyama could create.
To put it into perspective…
This Aura Sphere was big enough to swallow an elephant whole!
Launched, the massive sphere shot forward like a lightning bolt, locked onto its target—one of the Mega Gardevoirs.
"Teleport!" Chris reacted instantly.
Mega Gardevoir vanished just before impact.
But… relying on Aura, the homing Aura Sphere adjusted its trajectory mid-air, curving into a wide arc before zeroing in on the real Mega Gardevoir as it reappeared.
"Trouble," Chris muttered, frowning.
Even though Mega Gardevoir's Psychic/Fairy typing gave it a quadruple resistance to Fighting-type moves, this Aura Sphere was ridiculously oversized.
If it connected, Mega Gardevoir—delicate and lightly built—would suffer serious damage.
In that case… it was time for a tactical sacrifice.
Instead of dodging again, Mega Gardevoir turned to face the incoming attack head-on.
And at the very last moment—
"Ally Switch!"
A second Mega Gardevoir instantly switched places with the one locked onto by Aura Sphere.
Boom!
The explosion shook the entire battlefield.
A massive, circular crater—twenty meters in radius—was left behind.
If the reporters hadn't been evacuated earlier, at least a dozen people would have been caught in the blast!
As the dust settled, the targeted Mega Gardevoir had disappeared—the Substitute had taken the hit.
Chris turned his attention back to Dynamax Machamp. It was still standing but had taken heavy damage.
Yet… it wasn't the only one suffering.
Chris's gaze shifted to Master Keaton.
The veteran Trainer was half-kneeling on the ground, one hand pressed against the floor, the other clutching his chest—his face twisted in pain, as if he himself had taken the damage.
