Dynamax Machamp.
Chris looked up.
That powerful body, four muscular arms flowing like molten magma, three red clouds swirling around its waist, and a golden belt that shone even brighter after being magnified several times.
"Dynamax Machamp..." he murmured.
He had long known that Master Keaton's trump card was Machamp and that it could Dynamax.
It was precisely because of this that Vladimir, his teacher, brought Chris—who used Mega Gardevoir as his trump card—to challenge Master Keaton. In fact, Vladimir had even used Machamp when battling Chris at the beginning. Over time, they had sparred and trained together, often with Machamp as Chris's opponent.
"Machamp, Dynamic Punch!" Master Keaton commanded.
The enormous Machamp leaned forward and threw a heavy punch, its fist glowing with dazzling white light as it struck, completely filling Hariyama and Chris's field of vision.
Unlike in the games and anime, Pokémon could still use their regular moves after Dynamaxing. Alternatively, they could base their attacks on an existing move to execute a Max Move, though this consumed a great deal of both the Pokémon's and the Trainer's stamina, shortening the Dynamax duration.
In the games, Dynamax lasts only three turns. In reality, however, its duration depends entirely on the stamina of both the Pokémon and the Trainer.
Now, the same multiple-choice question that had once been placed before Master Keaton was now before Chris.
Attack, defend, or switch Pokémon?
"Aura Sphere!" Chris chose to attack.
Because aside from Gardevoir, he had no better alternative.
Chris's registered Pokémon were Greninja, Gyarados, Garchomp, Hariyama, Tyranitar, and Gardevoir.
Originally, Hariyama's spot was meant for Blaziken. However, considering Hariyama's ability to use Aura Sphere with pinpoint accuracy, combined with the Black Belt item that boosted Fighting-type moves, Chris ultimately decided to use Hariyama instead.
Now, if he wanted Gardevoir to remain in peak condition for the final battle, the only other viable switch-in was Tyranitar.
But Tyranitar's Rock/Dark typing made it four times weak to Fighting...
It was better to stick with Hariyama.
As Machamp's Dynamic Punch closed in, Hariyama gathered an Aura Sphere in its right hand and hurled it forward.
A moment ago, the Aura Sphere had been the size of a millstone. Now, with the second shot, it was only the size of a football. The Black Belt's 50% boost applied only to the first Aura Sphere.
This football-sized Aura Sphere was the absolute limit of Hariyama's strength.
Boom!
Dynamax Machamp took the Aura Sphere directly to the chest.
But at the same time, Machamp's Dynamic Punch connected with Hariyama.
Two explosions merged into one.
To be precise, the explosion caused by the Aura Sphere was completely overpowered by the force of Machamp's Dynamic Punch.
The Aura Sphere burst against Dynamax Machamp's chest, dealing neutral damage.
Meanwhile, Machamp's Dynamic Punch...
A three-meter-deep crater formed in front of Chris.
Boom!
The punch seemed to have a delayed explosion effect, triggering yet another blast.
The battlefield trembled.
As the crater widened, Chris was forced to step back.
Only when Dynamax Machamp withdrew its fist did the full impact become clear.
Where the punch had landed, a massive circular pit had formed—ten meters in radius and about five meters deep. At its center, Hariyama lay unconscious, eyes swirling.
"Hariyama is unable to battle! Machamp wins!" The referee immediately declared.
With that, both Master Keaton and Chris were down to their last Pokémon.
Now, at last, the true final battle would begin.
Chris recalled Hariyama into its Poké Ball. "Thank you."
Getting one-shot by Dynamax Machamp—as expected.
After all, this was reality—not a game, not an anime.
In the official settings of the games and anime, Dynamax energy is a special force released by a Pokémon, distorting the surrounding space to make it appear much larger than its actual size.
Upon Dynamaxing, a Pokémon's size increases, and its HP is boosted—but its base stats remain the same.
Fighting-type and Poison-type Max Moves may also be weakened since, in the games, successfully landing them grants stat boosts instead.
But in real life...
How could there not be an actual boost to stats?!
According to the official settings, a Dynamaxed Pokémon's size, weight, and height increase several times over—yet it supposedly doesn't impact battle strength?
That made no sense.
Take the current Machamp as an example—its weight has increased tenfold, from its original 130 Kilograms to 1300 Kilograms!
And honestly, even that seems like an understatement.
The original Machamp stood at most 2.5 meters tall, but now? It had to be at least 40 meters high!
Ten times?
More like twenty times!
A one-ton Machamp throwing a punch…
And you're telling me that its base stats haven't improved? Fine, I can accept that—after all, a Pokémon that size has to use all its strength just to stay upright. If it loses balance, it could collapse under its own weight.
But you're telling me that its strength actually decreases?!
Yeah, right.
"Let's head to the Galar Region and Alola Region once we wrap things up at the Gym," Chris muttered. With Dynamax and Z-Moves, his combat power could at least double.
He reached for the Poké Ball at his waist and tossed it.
A figure gracefully floated to the battlefield—a blue-haired Gardevoir.
"Shiny Gardevoir!!!" Gasps erupted from all around.
The reporters, whose nerves had already been dulled by the relentless spectacle, were reinvigorated.
Had their camera shutters gone numb? Even if the cameras themselves could no longer keep up, they had to capture this moment!
What Red Gyarados? What Mega Garchomp? What Shiny Pokémon?
Before Shiny Gardevoir, nothing else mattered!
Sure, Mega Garchomp might be rarer and more valuable in some circles—but in terms of popularity, Shiny Gardevoir reigned supreme!
Chris was long used to people losing their minds over his Shiny Gardevoir. Without hesitation, he stretched out his hand.
"Gardevoir, MEGA EVOLVE!"
A dazzling prismatic light enveloped Gardevoir.
When the light faded, Mega Gardevoir stood elegantly on the battlefield, its flowing black gown giving it the air of a noble princess.
Reporters: AHHHHHHHHH!!!
Awei: Do I need to follow protocol, or should I just collapse right here?
A Pokémon even rarer and more popular than Mega Garchomp had just appeared.
The ultimate Mega Shiny Gardevoir—a complete showstopper!
There's a saying…
Once you appear, nothing else matters.
The moment Mega Shiny Gardevoir entered the battlefield, the outcome of the battle no longer mattered.
Tomorrow? No—tonight's headlines were already set in stone:
"Mega Shiny Gardevoir Stuns the World!"
