Chapter 4 - Friends?

Chapter 4: Friends?

~~~~~~~~~~~
Kai was packing up her things, still feeling a bit dejected about her placement. She looked up as I approached, a hint of a smile on her face.
"Hey, Haruto," she said.
"Hey, Kai. Sorry for annoying you in the quirk apprehension test." I said as I moved my hand out in front of her.
Kai chuckled softly and shook my hand, her smile growing wider.
"Don't worry about it," she said. "I wasn't that annoyed, I was just surprised by your throw. I've never seen anyone do something like that before."
"What can I say? I'm just awesome," I jokingly said.
Kai laughed again, her spirits lifting a bit.
"I'll give you that, you definitely are awesome," she said, playfully punching my shoulder.
We both chuckled, enjoying the lighthearted banter. As the two of us continued to chat, the other students slowly filed out of the classroom, leaving the two of us alone together.
Once the classroom was empty, the we had the space to yourselves. Kai sat down on one of the desks, leaning back casually.
"So, what are you planning to do now?" she asked, her tone light and curious.
"Today was just to show up for homeroom and the ceremony," I mentioned. "But Aizawa-sensei used his free teaching policy for us to do the quirk apprehension test."
Kai nodded in agreement, her expression turning a bit more serious.
"Yeah, that was definitely unexpected," she said. "But I guess Aizawa wanted to see what we were capable of right away. He's definitely not the type to waste time."
"What are you going to do?" I asked, since the students could just go home for the rest of the day now.
Kai shrugged, a hint of uncertainty in her eyes.
"Honestly, I'm not really sure," she admitted. "I mean, I know we're supposed to look over the curriculum, but I was thinking of taking a break first. I feel like I need to clear my head after that test."
"I planned on looking over it and exploring the school before heading home." I mentioned.
Kai raised an eyebrow at your comment, looking a bit surprised.
"You're going to explore the school?" she asked, her voice tinged with curiosity. "All by yourself?"
"Yeah! I was thinking it would be a good idea to use this chance and get used to the layout of the school." I explained to Kai.
Kai considered this for a moment, her expression thoughtful. After a few seconds, she spoke up again.
"You know what, that's not a bad idea," she said, a small smile appearing on her face. "Mind if I join you?"
"Sure, I don't mind." I reached out my hand towards her again.
Kai took my hand and hopped off the desk, standing up beside me. Her smile grew a bit wider as she looked at me, clearly excited to explore the school.
The two of us headed out of the classroom, walking down the hallway side by side. The school was still buzzing with activity, with students chatting and laughing as they moved from class to class.
Kai was quiet as I walked, her eyes darting around the school, taking in the sights. She seemed to be just as fascinated by the surroundings as I was, and she occasionally glanced over at me with a small smile.
As I passed by some classrooms, Kai stopped for a moment to peek inside. I saw a few students inside, some working on assignments while others chatted with each other. It was clear that everyone was busy, but the atmosphere was still relaxed and friendly.
Kai seemed to be taking a mental note of everything she saw, her eyes flicking back and forth as she observed the students. After a few moments, she spoke up again, her voice low and thoughtful.
"This place is a lot bigger than I thought it would be," she said, looking around at the expansive hallways and classrooms.
"It is supposed to be one of the best hero schools in the world, if not the best." I responded as we continued looking around.
Kai nodded in agreement, her eyes shining with admiration.
"I know," she said, her voice filled with awe. "And now we're a part of it. Can you believe it?"
"It may be arrogant of me, but the entrance exam wasn't anything special, it wasn't even that hard." I said truthfully. The entrance exam really wasn't that hard, for me at least.
Kai raised an eyebrow at my comment, a small smirk on her face.
"Oh really? The entrance exam was too easy for you, huh?"
"It's rude to say, but yeah. I know it's because I have better control over my quirk than most of the other contestants. But, there was just a lot left to be desired." I continued.
Kai chuckled at my response, clearly amused by my confidence.
"You're pretty cocky, aren't you?" she teased, playfully nudging my arm with her elbow.
"Are you saying it wasn't easy? Was it too hard for your snow clouds~?" I responded playfully.
Kai rolled her eyes, pretending to be offended by my comment.
"Oh, don't you dare bring up my quirk," she said, jokingly. "It was not snow clouds that got me in here, it was hard work and skill."
"Your quirk was part of the reason for fighting the robots in the practical portion." I added on.
Kai sighed, knowing that I had a point.
"Alright, fine," she admitted begrudgingly. "You may be right about that. But I'll have you know that I also used my brains and strategy to take down those robots."
"I'm proud, good girl~" I jokingly praised her.
Kai's face flushed slightly at my comment, clearly caught off guard by the praise. She tried to play it cool, but the hint of a smile on her face betrayed her true feelings.
"Oh, shut up," she said, giving me a playful shove.
We eventually made it to the front entrance where we saw Ochako running towards Midoriya and Iida.
Ochako's eyes widened as she saw the two of us standing by the entrance, a smile spreading across her face.
"Hey, guys!" she called out, waving at Kai and I as she approached.
"Uraraka, right?" I said as she approached, acting like I didn't know her well.
Ochako nodded, her smile widening as she got closer.
"Yep, that's me!" she said cheerfully, giving me a quick hug before turning her attention to Midoriya and Iida. I was surprised by the hug but played it off.
Midoriya and Iida both greeted me warmly, and the four of us chatted for a few minutes about your classes and how the first day had gone so far. I noticed Kai wasn't participating in the conversation and motioned for her to join us, not wanting her to be left out.
Kai nodded, stepping closer to the group and joining in on the conversation. She seemed a bit shy at first, but quickly warmed up to the others as they all chatted and joked around together.
The group continued to chat and laugh, enjoying each other's company. The conversation was lighthearted and casual, with a lot of friendly banter and teasing.
We began walking away from the school's entrance, down the hill, towards the city of Musutafu.
As we walked down the hill, I all took in the sights of the city around me. The bustling streets, the colorful buildings, and the people going about their daily lives were all part of the unique charm of Musutafu.
As I looked out over the city, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. This was my new home, my new life, and I was eager to see what the future held for me. The buildings seemed to tower above me, their shadows stretching across the streets and casting an air of mystery and adventure. It was like the whole city was waiting for me to explore it, and I was more than willing to accept the challenge.
The others took out their phones and entered my number into their contacts list, making sure to save it for future use. They all seemed happy to have a way to stay in touch with me, and there was a sense of camaraderie and friendship between the group.
This is ultimate friendship, I got that friendly rizz. Give a group of people your number, start as friends, and then I slowly slide into the direct messages. Obviously I had a couple ulterior motives but it was also a good chance to get my number out in case anything happened.
As the others boarded the subway, they waved back at me with smiles on their faces. Midoriya, Iida, and Uraraka seemed reluctant to leave, but Kai looked particularly reluctant to say goodbye. She lingered for a moment, looking like she wanted to say something, but in the end, she just smiled and waved one last time before disappearing into the subway station.
Once the others were gone, I was left alone on the street. The sound of the subway car rumbling off into the distance echoed in my ears, and I was suddenly aware of how quiet the city was around me.
The stillness of the city was almost unnerving, and I found myself feeling a bit lost and unsure of what to do next. I was in a new place, surrounded by unfamiliar sights and sounds, and I had no idea where to go or who to talk to.
As I walked through the streets, I found myself lost in thought. The city was a blur around me, the noise and chaos of the urban environment fading into the background as my mind wandered.
Finally, I arrived at the address of my new home. It was a quaint, cozy-looking house, nestled among the other homes on the block. As I approached, I could see that the lawn was well-tended, and the house was in good condition. It felt welcoming and inviting, a stark contrast to the anxiety I had been feeling just moments ago.
As I unlocked the door and stepped inside, I couldn't help but smile. Despite the distance between me and my parents, they had still found a way to provide me with a safe and comfortable home in a new country. It was a small gesture, but it meant the world to me.
I closed the door behind me, feeling a sense of relief wash over me as I stepped into the quiet sanctuary of my new home. The air smelled fresh and clean, and the interior was neat and orderly. It was a far cry from the hustle and bustle of the city outside, and I felt a sense of peace settle over me.
"I'm truly living in the world of My Hero Academia. This is where my story truly starts."
