Chapter 7 - The Beginning of the Dreemurr Worshippers

"You're back! Everyone, Frisk and Chara, came back!"

"Are both of you okay? It looks like you took a beating?"

"The blizzard suddenly stopped. Did something happen while you both were away?"

That was the words the two had heard the moment they made it back to the hideout. Frisk and Chara severely underestimated the worries everyone had when they realized that the two had not returned in a while.

"I can't believe it, you both actually decided to go confront the God of Blizzard! You both, you…!"

Venerare said to them with her tone of shock when she connected the dots of what they were truly doing in the snowstorm. The moment she spotted the two, and with no hesitation, she ran to hug Chara tightly, feeling so relieved that they and Frisk made it back safe and sound.

Chara was caught off guard by the hug they received from Venerare, but noticed how worried she was as they noticed a teardrop falling down from her eye. Feeling guilty about making her so worried, Chara didn't hesitate to hug her back.

"I'm sorry, we…"

Chara couldn't say anything as they knew that what they would say would make Venerare feel more upset than she already was. But their eyes landed on Ventus, who had a relieved expression on his face.

"Guess you told her, huh?"

Ventus let out a guilty laugh as he looked apologetic as he approached Chara.

"Sorry, both she and Gunnhildr were getting worried when you both didn't come back after a few hours. And because Venerare and I were the last people who spoke to you, she forced me to tell her the truth. I, and everyone, had to stop her and Gunnhildr from leaving the cave and search for you both."

Chara couldn't help but look up at the sky, it was nearly nighttime as the sun was about to disappear. They honestly admit that they spend an hour just seeing the bright blue sky while feeling the warmth sunlight that gets rid of the coldness that was around them.

Speaking of Gunnhildr, Chara took a glance at her and Frisk on the ground as Frisk was calming down Gunnhildr, as she didn't look like she wanted to let go any time soon. She was looking worse than Venerare, lots of tears were pouring down as her sobs could be heard.

"We're really sorry that we made you all worried. Honestly, we just wanted to speak with the God of Blizzard, but that led to a fight that he requested us to do as we agreed. But after a long, hard fight, he reveals that it was a test to see if we both have what it takes to overthrow the God of Storms."

They glance at the nightfall sky as they see the stars, stars, wait a second… Chara realized something was off in the night sky, especially the stars.

"Wait… Why do those stars look…fake?"

Suddenly, a memory that he had recalled a long time ago resurfaced once again.

A cavelike place where you can see endless water falling above cliffs, echo flowers in certain areas, bridge seeds to make a flower bridge, a room with a piano, a rain area, you could even see the castle of New Home. Two children looking up at the shining little stars in the "dark sky."

"Hey Asriel, are these… Stars?"

They ask their adopted brother, as he chuckles before shaking his head.

"No, these are crystals that shine, they look like stars, but I only heard stories of the bright stars from mom and dad. Hey, Chara, you were from the surface, could you tell me if these stars are the same?"

Chara hesitated for a moment before recalling the early mornings they see the lingering stars before having to go to morning meetings.

"The stars above look so pretty, as if you can spend the whole light watching them in peace. Making you feel free from stress."

They recall, never forgetting what real stars look like, and in their opinion, they would prefer to see true stars rather than seeing crystal stars. Asriel told them that he wanted to see the real stars, to see them every day with their adopted brother.

"And you both are capable of defeating the God of Storms!"

A voice snapped Chara out of the memory as they turned to see who spoke.

A person who is one of Venerare's people spoke up, looking at Chara with newfound respect and belief. That causes more people to have the same expression as Venerare's people look at Chara, while Gunnhildr's people look at Frisk in the same way.

They could have sworn they heard them talk about making a bible for them, Frisk and Barbatos. And for some reason, since they were still a ghost spirit in the underground, they somehow knew Japanese. It was like they knew what to say about the Japanese bible.

"Hehe… I'm guessing Barbatos won't be the one who everyone will worship."

Ventus muttered as he chuckled, and Barbatos hummed in agreement. He could already hear everyone whispering about them planning on making two more statues for the Dreemurr twins. The fairy hovered around Chara before hovering over Frisk, who had just gotten Gunnhildr off of them as they stood up.

"Don't—Don't you ever leave without telling anyone!"

Gunnhildr let out one last sob as Frisk carefully wiped the remaining tears from her eyes. She looked directly at Frisk's face as she couldn't help but speak what she felt she needed to say.

"Just please… Don't leave without telling us."

Frisk felt even more guilty for making her feel that way, for her to think that two humans went to confront the god whose power is blizzard, and thought that there was a chance that they wouldn't come back. And when Gunnhildr saw the condition they and Chara were in, it nearly made her faint.

Even if the apple healed their HP, it didn't fully heal their condition, healing away spots where they bled, numbing the pain that came. That made them feel more grateful to have a SAVE file when they first fell. Despite some issues at the beginning.

"You and Chara caused the blizzard to end. Defeating a god that was fighting with the God of Storms. Both of you just proved that humans can stand against a god."

Gunnhildr muttered as she couldn't ignore the recent change that came throughout the rest of the day. Frisk could just nod as they still couldn't believe that they and Chara were able to hurt a god. They already assume why, Barbatos and Istaroth's blessings. Blessings that make them stronger and capable of hurting gods.

The reason why Frisk and Chara were able to do well was because of their strength, skills, and determination to win the battle. And the training the two had been through, when it was with the help of others or on their own.

So far, only themselves, and potentially Scharlach, who can go toe-to-toe with Frisk on a daily spar. He is something that will be helpful on the day the rebellion comes. And just fighting Boreas with only themselves, and that Boreas said himself that Decarabian was stronger than him.

It was clear that it would take more than just two humans to beat another god whose power is stronger than the one the twin Dreemurrs fought. Frisk couldn't help but feel the cold still traveling through the land.

The snow was still there, but not a whole lot, as the sun melted away a few. But Boreas's sacrifice to restore the land was slowly being made. It had to take its time, as Boreas did cause a lot of damage to the land.

But the land will soon flourish into something beautiful. And soon, Mondstadt will, once they overthrow or if things escalate, kill the God of Storms.

Frisk turns to see how many people they have within the rebellion. Sure, the numbers kinda look… Okay? But with the information that there are blessed people within Mondstadt City, it wouldn't hurt to recruit more just to be sure. Istaroth wanted people to rebel, but it seems they needed encouragement, bravery, and determination.

"Hey, Gunnhildr."

"Yes, Instructor?"

Gunnhildr looked like she was taking orders from a powerful leader, aka Frisk, as she did a salute. To Frisk, it looks like Gunnhildr put her left arm on her back like a sideways L while her right arm put it in her chest and flung it at a 120-degree angle.

"Did you just come up with that salute, or was that salute already formed before we confronted Boreas?"

"It was already formed when I became your student. It was something I felt like I should do as your student to show my respect."

"I see… Anyway, you and your group came from Mondstadt City. Were there other people who had the potential to fight against a god?"

Gunnhildr was thinking if she knew a few people before she, her father, and her clan left the city to get away from the God of Storms' tyrant. A few people came to mind, but she wondered if the people she thought of would answer her instructor's question.

"There is a clan that was formed long before the war between the two gods, or possibly during the war, it is called the Imunlaukr Clan. There was a region that was away from the city, a kingdom named Sal Vindagnyr. The kingdom was long ruined before any of us were born. From what we heard, the clan was seeking refuge to get away from the snow and strife.

"They enjoy having the blessing of Celestia, as there was a princess who received more than one blessing, a certain one that said she can foresee the future. It was said that she dreamed of a black dragon filling the land with clouds of scarlet poison.

"But, as if fate had other plans, a nail hail from Celestia crashed down on Sal Vindagnyr, causing a terrible blizzard like the God of Blizzard, but much, much worse. You can even see the old kingdom from here."

She pointed in the direction that seems so far, yet you can see a horrifying snowstorm, a storm that wasn't created by Boreas. You could still feel the cold from there despite being so far away.

Like Gunnhildr said, the cause of it was Celestia bringing a nail down. Like a divine punishment. To think a nail from a being with that much authority over the world would cause that much power?

Frisk listened to Gunnhildr as she continued.

"Imunlaukr, the namesake whose ancestor named the clan after him, wanted to find a way to save his kingdom from the storm, but sadly, while he was away, the kingdom fell into ruin, and everyone died within the blizzard. Imunlakr came back only to see that he was the last person in his now ruined home.

"He left his home in search of a land full of war for him to fight in, as he believed that Celestia wanted bloodshed, as gods are fighting as humanity is dying because of it. At some point, his descendants resided in Mondstadt City. It would seem they are planning on fighting the God of Blizzard for the "sake" of the God of Storms. But I doubt the clan knew about his death."

"Because it just happened today, and the power of the storm barrier is making it difficult to see what is inside. Nobody will know what even happens if they stayed inside the so-called protection their god is providing."

Frisk theorized that because the clan wanted to fight in wars. That must mean they fought in Like or other nations before coming to Mondstadt. They also thought that the descendants of the clan passed down stories to people who clearly wanted to hear about what was happening outside while they were "safe" inside.

"Yes, I doubt the clan will ever know unless a small group of the clan decides to go out and confront Boreas. They were planning in secret how to kill a god. The reason for how I knew this was because they tried to recruit my father before he decided to take us out of the city."

"So not even their god knows what the Imunlaukr Clan is doing."

"No, but I would recommend getting in touch with them as they are by far a powerful clan that survives many battles. It would be a waste of potential for us not to recruit them."

Frisk immediately declared as they raised their right arm and clenched their fist.

"Which is the reason why I felt that I should enter Mondstadt City. To find more people to join the rebellion. (And to also find the people who were blessed by Istaroth. It could be the Imunlaukr Clan, as they could have unintentionally tricked her into believing they were afraid of standing up to Decarabian.)"

"...Frisk, are you planning on going back and actually going to get in the city? Couldn't we relax and recover from the fighting we just did?"

Chara couldn't help but ask, as they can see the storm barrier from a distance since the snowstorm isn't around anymore. To think that a barrier like that would be that huge from where they were.

And the fact that they got a good look at the area they are currently using as the base. It was surrounded by a huge frozen lake, which explains why they slipped when they were chasing after Frisk. Chara thought it was a small pond or something. And the cave they slept in was a part of a big and long cliff that was in the middle of the lake.

Chara also felt embarrassed that when they first went to confront Boreas, it took an hour to find the barrier. Lots of twists and turns on the way until they found the right direction. While the blizzard was different today, it doesn't mean it was clearer.

"Well, it would be good to rest, but who knows what the God of Storms will do as soon as he realizes his enemy is no more."

"So you're saying we're on a time limit despite not knowing that the God of Storms will eventually learn of his enemy's death. …Screw it! Knowing you, you would ask me to accompany you. Let's just go already."

Frisk let out a "Ha!" as they began to walk to the storm barrier. Not even five feet before…

"So our tears weren't enough for you both!?"

To everyone's surprise, especially Chara, Venerare shouted as she slammed herself onto Chara, and they both fell to the ground as Gunnhildr did the same to Frisk.

"You both already decided to do another mission, only the both of you again, with no goodbyes, to the same location, and it's night out!"

She pointed out the facts that the two were about to do again, the fact that they willingly just decided to do just that, and did it in front of everyone who was worried sick. Even Gunnhildr couldn't help but talk about it while shaking Frisk's body.

"Instructor, my apologies for saying this, but are you this reckless? Facing dangers head on without thinking twice while fighting."

"You have no idea!"

Chara whispered only for Frisk to hear, as much as they wanted to retort, they couldn't, as being shaken by their student was distracting.

"Frisk, Chara, I think it best if a few of us come with you. It'll be better than having to go in unprepared, plus you both hadn't seen the city as, well, half of us. And if possible, could we do this in the morning?"

Ventus suggested, as all the people of Gunnhildr nodded in agreement, as they all didn't want their instructors to go off on their own again and wait for them to return.

"...I guess you're right."

Frisk said as they felt a bit disappointed about not going right now, while Chara sighed in relief at getting the chance to rest properly. They got Ventus to lock eyes with them as they mouthed "Thank you!"

Ventus, knowing what Chara said, just nodded as a way of saying "You're welcome."

"Great! I say we celebrate the change that our two sweater stripe friends have achieved. We deserve this as we could have endured more cold nights had it not been for our brave heroes!"

Everyone let out a cheer of celebration, and with no hesitation, everyone lifted Frisk and Chara up to the sky, who were both shocked and flustered by the cheers they were given. The people within the rebellion yelled out hip hip hooray for the Dreemurrs, as if two new divines had awakened in mortal bodies.

For Frisk and Chara, they were glad they were able to help the people who wanted to have freedom.
