Chapter 198 - Chapter 198: The True Meaning of Betrayal

Inside "Quirk" Prison, All Might and Togata Mirio exchanged glances, but neither could find the words to speak.

The decision made by the Japanese government was something they simply couldn't accept.

Midoriya Izuku had been sentenced to death. The thought alone made Togata Mirio want to break him out, but the idea only lasted a second before he crushed it himself. It was already too late—there was no turning back now.

The words Midoriya Izuku had spoken just before being subdued still echoed in his mind:

"This ridiculous hero society has no reason to exist anymore!"

At that moment, All Might and Togata Mirio finally realized the full gravity of the situation.

Sir Nighteye's prediction of the future… was drawing closer. That terrifying, hopeless future.

"But… do we really have to let Midoriya be executed…?"

Togata Mirio was in pain, struggling to accept it. All Might, weak and frail, covered his face with both hands, unable to say a word. At this moment, he truly hated himself.

He had been the hero that child admired the most, yet what was he doing now? Was he just going to stand by and watch Midoriya Izuku be executed?

Sighing and feeling helpless wouldn't change anything. All they could do now was watch and hope it would all be over soon.

"…It's you?!"

Inside "Quirk" Prison, Midoriya Izuku's cellmate—the "Hero Killer" Stain—stared at him in shock.

This was someone he had acknowledged as a true hero. Why was he in prison?

"…Stain, huh."

"Why are you here? A kid like you wouldn't be someone to commit a serious crime."

"Why…?"

Hearing the question, Midoriya slowly opened his mouth and answered:

"To bring about a society of true order, this is a necessary step."

"…What?"

"You'll understand soon enough."

Their conversation was brief, but under the surface, a massive storm was about to erupt.

——————————————

At the entrance of "Quirk" Prison, Sir Nighteye arrived—with Shinso Hitoshi by his side.

"Hold on a second. What is he here for?"

The prison guards stopped Shinso Hitoshi in his tracks. "Quirk" Prison was heavily guarded—no one could enter without proper clearance, not even pro heroes.

As the one who had helped capture Midoriya Izuku, Sir Nighteye naturally had the authority to enter. But Shinso Hitoshi? The guards weren't about to let him in so easily.

"He's my new assistant. In order to extract information about the 'League of Villains' from Kurogiri, we need his cooperation."

"I see. Go on in."

The guards stepped aside, and Shinso Hitoshi silently followed behind Nighteye, keeping his head down as they entered "Quirk" Prison.

However, instead of heading toward Kurogiri's holding cell, the two of them walked toward the warden's office.

"Stop right there. You're not allowed to go any further."

The guards blocked their path. Even someone like Nighteye needed prior approval to meet with the warden.

But just then, Shinso Hitoshi stepped forward.

"Can the warden control all the security systems?"

"No, it requires the warden, deputy warden, and chief engineer together to fully enable or disable them."

"Wait… why am I even telling you this?!"

The prison guard's face turned pale with shock, while Shinso Hitoshi smirked. This information was way more useful than he expected.

"Thanks."

Right after Shinso said that, the panicked prison guard suddenly froze in place, standing there like a puppet.

Shinso waved goodbye to him before following Nighteye out. The rest was up to him now.

Not far from Midoriya Izuku's cell, All Might and Togata Mirio were on guard duty, taking turns watching over Midoriya.

After all, they had to be constantly on alert for any tricks All For One might pull. If they let their guard down and allowed Midoriya to be rescued, it would be a disaster.

"All Might, Mirio, get over here now! I'm in the warden's office. I have important intel."

All Might's phone rang, and the moment he answered, he heard Nighteye's urgent voice.

Without any hesitation, he and Togata Mirio rushed over. If Nighteye said it was important, they believed him completely.

But as soon as they left, a figure appeared at the door of Midoriya Izuku's cell.

It was none other than Shinso Hitoshi, his plan working perfectly.

"Sorry... I can't believe you had to come save me this time."

"It doesn't matter. If everyone already sees me as a villain, I might as well show them what a 'villain' really looks like."

…

Meanwhile, at the warden's office, All Might and Togata Mirio immediately sensed that something was off.

The atmosphere felt strange—though they couldn't quite put their finger on it.

But the moment they stepped inside, everything became clear.

Nighteye stood there, completely unresponsive, his face blank.

Beside him, the warden, deputy warden, and chief engineer were all in the exact same state.

"This is bad!"

Togata Mirio immediately used Permeation to phase through the walls and rush toward Midoriya Izuku's cell.

Meanwhile, All Might grabbed Nighteye and shook him violently, snapping him out of his trance.

"Damn it!!"

Now fully awake, Nighteye clutched his head in frustration.

His first words were filled with regret:

"I was only focused on All For One and the League of Villains… I completely overlooked the real reason we failed the last few times."

"The most dangerous traitor was right here all along!"

At the same time, Togata Mirio reached the prison cell—

Only to find Midoriya Izuku already free from his restraints.

Standing next to him were Shinso Hitoshi, Kurogiri, and the Hero Killer, Stain.

"Midoriya!!"

"Mirio-senpai… no, Togata Mirio, huh? You're too late."

"Damn it!"

Seeing Midoriya Izuku unchained, Togata Mirio prepared to fight with everything he had to stop him from escaping.

But before he could act, Shinso Hitoshi spoke.

"Have you ever regretted locking Midoriya Izuku in here?"

"I… regret…"

Togata Mirio clenched his teeth and shut his mouth. He knew exactly what Shinso's Quirk could do.

But in that moment, as if his lips weren't his own, his true feelings slipped out against his will.

"What?!"

"So that's how it is. Then I guess there's no problem letting us leave, right?"

Togata Mirio's face filled with shock, while Shinso Hitoshi smirked slightly.

In an instant, Mirio's body went stiff—his mind under complete control.

"Move now. The 'brainwashing' won't last long."

Kurogiri activated a portal.

Stain, now freed, stepped through without hesitation.

Shinso followed.

Only Midoriya Izuku remained, standing before Togata Mirio.

With a final glance, he bid him farewell.

"The moment Night Eye saw the future, everything was already set in stone."
