Ryu took some carbon dust and tried controlling it with his chakra. After his training in earth affinity, Ryu could control carbon atoms better. The atoms in dust aligned themselves, joined together and formed a thin, black, needle-like structure.
Before his Earth affinity training, Ryu could only form loosely connected, small, hair-like structures with no directional control over their formation. Ryu was right to train his earth affinity. He can now form longer structures, even without specific training with carbon and only moulding earth.
Dan was shocked. He said, "Controlling random materials was not simple even in the world of ninjutsu. One needed to understand the structure of the material and have a control method and chakra compatible with the material. Even with all this, most people failed to control new materials that are not categorised in general elements."
Ryu continued, "But I cannot control it well enough to call it a ninjutsu yet. I would call this ability [Carbon Control] when I get the hang of it."
Dan asked, "But where do earth and water affinities connect in all this?"
Ryu replied, "I thought, as carbon was more solid, then getting familiar with controlling solid material like earth could help me have better control of it. So I thought earth and water affinity would help. and it helped a lot. Before, I could hardly create carbon hairs. Now I can at least create more solid linear structures."
Dan said, "Is that material that versatile?
Ryu replied, "Very versatile. It can form materials that are good conductors of electricity as well as those that are poor conductors, depending on the structure of the bonds of the material and impurities I mix in. It can also form materials that are as light as wood but as strong as steel.
Dan said, "Then you were not wrong in your approach for this new ninjutsu based on carbon. You named it [Carbon Control], right?"
Ryu replied, "Yes, Grandpa."
Dan replied, "You were also not wrong in training earth affinity. Also, shape manipulation training was a good idea. But you forgot one thing."
Ryu asked, "What is it?"
Dan replied, "[Yin-Release]."
Ryu was surprised; he had heard about the term but did not consider it fully due to a lack of information.
Dan continued, "You overlooked the fact that you can also train in [Yin-Release]. Don't underestimate the power of Yin-Release in enhancing your ninjutsu skills. It works better for giving shape to ninjutsu."
Ryu blinked twice, realising the importance of incorporating [Yin-Release] into his training regimen. He had not considered it before. Ryu said, "That is a fantastic idea. Why didn't you tell me before?"
Dan said, "I could have told you before if you had told me what exactly you were trying to achieve."
Ryu replied, "Sorry, Grandpa. I was so preoccupied that I didn't think clearly."
Dan tells Ryu, "Controlling unconventional materials is considered equal to Kekkei Genkai. But you have already unconventionally attained elemental Kekkei Genkai of multiple natures through your out-of-the-world fuinjutsu techniques. So I am confident that you will be able to achieve mastery in controlling this unconventional material. I guess I can already call you a Fuinjutsu Monarch."
Ryu said, "Thanks, Grandpa. But I'm not yet at the level to consider myself a monarch. There are likely others with similar elemental Kekkei Genkai."
Dan tells him, "There are a few more people who can do the same. Like, there is a guy in the Cloud Village that can control rubber."
Ryu thought about Dodai, who could control rubber, and Darui, who could use Storm Release. And Steel Release of an unknown user who could turn his skin into steel. Ryu theorised it is a certain combination of Earth affinity with some other affinity, probably lightning. But what combination is a question left unanswered for now? But Ryu will, in time, be able to try every possible combination with every affinity, as he has a very high affinity for every element.
Ryu looked at his grandfather and said, "There must be many others too."
Dan replied, "There could be. But no one can do it with fuinjutsu alone."
Dan continued and said, "I will help you with mastering your [Carbon Control] abilities."
Ryu nodded and said, "Thank you, Grandpa. I don't know a thing about [Yin-Release]."
Dan replied, "Don't worry. From now on you complete your training in earth affinity and then move on to complete Rasangan and then I will teach you [Yin-Release]. You can skip water release entirely."
Ryu replied, "Alright, Grandpa, I think this much training should be okay for today."
Dan replied, "Okay, I need to check up on Yasashii and Jiyuu."
"All right", Ryu said, "I will join you after I clean up."
Both of them went to see Yasashii and Jiyuu; they woke up early and started their chakra control training. They were in a deep trance and had their eyes closed and leaves stuck to their bodies.
Ryu watched them from afar and thought, "Good, they are more focused than regular kids. They must be eager to catch up to those regular kids. I think I should start their elemental affinity training soon. They will be otherwise bored with just one training regime all the time."
Ryu thought, "I should now train some more too before sleeping."
Returning to his room, Ryu assessed his earth affinity training progress, noting that it had reached a significant milestone at 45% suppression level.
Ryu thought, "45 is the highest this seal can do for now. I should train at this level for a few days. But I should also focus somewhere else in between earth affinity training and Senju-style taijutsu."
Ryu then looked at the Rasengan scroll and threw it away. He already knew the contents.
Ryu thought, "I should now start training for chakra shape control."
Ryu then went to his grandfather's workshop and started searching for balloons. He knew Dan had some balloons left after his entrance exam party.
"Found them," Ryu exclaimed.
Ryu filled as many balloons as possible with water. He did not even bother to look at the scroll, as he already knew the training method.
After he was done with preparing the balloons, he started training. He took one balloon in his hand and started focusing his chakra. Ryu moved his chakra inside the balloon in spherical motion, and the balloon started moving, and a few second later it expanded and popped.
Ryu said, "That was … easy."
He tried again, and it popped again after a few seconds.
Ryu thought, "Maybe because my chakra veins are denser than normal. I had some guesses that Senju-style taijutsu would have such advantages, but this is beyond my expectations. I wonder what other advantages it would have other than monstrous strength."
Ryu tried again and again; the balloon popped without much effort due to his [Muscle Memory] remembering the chakra flow.
Ryu thought, "It was too easy this time."
Ryu had an idea. He said, "I should try more variety at this stage."
Ryu then tried many different things with balloon-popping training. He reversed the direction of flow and also used the other hand and then both hands. After some time, he was out of chakra. He had popped every balloon he put his hands on without fail.
Ryu thought, "The universe-sized bubble popper, Mr End, would be proud."
The next day, Ryu went straight to the Senju training grounds to find Tsunade.
Tsunade said, "I have taught all the basics of Senju-style taijutsu, Ryu. You continue with your training and keep repeating it till you are perfect with it and release big impulses without the slightest of pain."
Ryu nodded.
Tsunade continued, "And once you're finished with the hand movements, make sure you train your legs as well. That will be all for today's instruction. After this, it's just a matter of perfecting the timing of your chakra impulses and getting used to hitting targets that aren't standing still.
Tsunade asked, "That won't be a problem for you, will it? You can handle that part on your own?"
Ryu nodded confidently.
Tsunade said, "Good. There's something I wanted to tell you. I'll be leaving the village soon."
Tsunade performed some hand seals and summoned a slug. The slug through his non-existent mouth spat a big scroll.
Tsunade said, "I wanted to offer you this," and gave Ryu the scroll.
Ryu looked at the slimy scroll and said, "Gross."
Tsunade's eyes twitched as she thought, "This brat."
She shook her head at his antics and said, "It's the summoning contract for Shikkotsu Forest."
Ryu took the scroll, his eyes scanning it. He paused, a thoughtful expression on his face.
Ryu thought, "Shikkotsu Forest... that's a huge opportunity. But I already discussed my plans with Grandpa. After graduation, I really want to try my luck with a fate summon. Signing this contract now would probably prevent that."
After a moment of internal deliberation, Ryu handed the scroll back to Tsunade.
Ryu said, " Thank you for the offer, Aunty, but I'm going to have to decline for now."
Tsunade was shocked. Ryu had just declined the offer of the legendary Shikkotsu Forest.
