Daji waits for my reaction, and the hair on her ears seems to stand up as if she's touched state electricity. After all that we have been through, does she really think I'll object to Aphrodite and Sun Wukong keeping tabs on me?
Maybe it's a measure of how blasé I've become about gods and mythical creatures being around me when I had no clue. Or maybe I feel flattered that they were curious.
"Did Gram and Gramps know?" I ask. "They certainly did a masterful job of hiding it--no surprise. They didn't even ask what was wrong after I found the hair. But then, it disappeared so fast that I convinced myself I imagine it."
Daji smiles slightly. "They could see your reactions, and there was a heated debate between them as to whether or not they should probe further and explore your attitudes. It was a lengthy debate. You'd hear their low voices in the office, or they'd slip it into conversation with Wukong or Athena or me. We stayed neutral."
