Character : Lilyanna Valkaria, Teacher Sister
-----
After spending only a day at the Earth Nation, we all decided to come back to the academy for the final exam.
It will be the very first time Nathan has returned to the academy ever since the war. He's been missing ever since, and I don't think he has even seen his brother. Everyone was excited to finally be able to see him again, but…
"Sorry! But I have somewhere else to be."
This guy… he just likes to do whatever he wants, huh?
Does his classmates even mean anything to him? Does the final exams, which can determine whether or not he will continue in the academy, matter so little to him?
Of course, he just needs to be 'Busy'. As if it wasn't something that cannot be skipped.
"Take your time, Nathan. We're all gonna be waiting for you." To my surprise, Jonah immediately understood.
He instantly realized that what Nathan wants to do is more important than anything, and I guess that's something only his best friend can ever realize. Even I don't really understand why, but Jonah is just that figure who simply knows Nathan so well.
And seeing his best friend so understanding, Nathan only smiles as he stands outside of our Steelbird. We're already boarding the ship, and we're just bidding farewell to him who won't be coming with us.
"Thanks. I'll take care of myself, don't worry." Nathan said firmly to his roommate, and Jonah lifted his fist for a fist bump. Nathan returned the fist bump firmly, and he turned his gaze to me after that.
"I hope you'll find what you're looking for..." I said to him without realizing, and Nathan opened his eyes widely. I'm not even sure myself as to why I said it, but the reaction seemed to be positive.
"You know me so well. I'll join you soon at the academy, Lily. Please take care." He said kindly, but I simply cannot wait for that time to come.
"Why don't you take Lily with you?" Nyssa suddenly blurted out, and I turned my surprised gaze to her.
"W-Why!?"
"It's not like Lily got anything to do at the academy."
"The final exam, Nyssa!? Hello!?"
"Isn't it better if you just stay with him instead of going on the exam?" Nyssa suddenly argued, and I opened my eyes from how right she was.
Right. Then, in that case--
"I think the she-devil is acting up. Nathan, good luck on your journey!" Jonah very quickly said as he grabbed both me and Nyssa's shoulders, stopping us from being too close to the Steelbird's hatch.
Nathan laughed loudly as well, and it seems like he too found that idea terrible. I'm just concerned why he didn't even wish for me to come with him, but I guess he had his reasons.
As our hands waved at each other, the door to the ship closed, shutting the air tight from ever leaking outside. The ship began to power up as it charges enough energy, and it won't be long now till we're airborne.
"That guy… he is still…"
"Mourning."
I turned my gaze to Jonah who finished my sentence, and the look on his face reveals to me a similar concerned expression as the one I'm wearing. He, too, realizes that something was very wrong with Nathan, and we have made the right decision to offer him assistance.
"I'm very sorry, Lily. I know how much you liked that guy--"
"No, you were right to stop me from going with him. It's just… concerning. I'm concerned that he has done unspeakable things to himself…" I quickly cut Jonah while giving my own argument, and the guy realizes himself.
Nathan has, indeed, done some unspeakable things to his body. From the fact that he grows thinner, looking more tired than ever, and the way he acts so softly, it seems like the trauma of losing his closest one is getting to him. We have done our best to offer him our assistance, but it is still up to him whether or not he wants our help.
"Let's just hope he shows up at the right time for the exams." Jonah said firmly before walking to the seat, and I realized that the ship was about to take off.
Nyssa and I follow to sit on the seats so the ship can lift off. After a while, the Steelbird was lifted from the ground, and we were well on our way back to the academy.
It has been a month since I left. I'm wondering how things are going over there. Hopefully nothing too surprising… right?
"Eh? M-My sister is…" My words were halted, and my mind was far too frozen to be able to think properly.
Upon arrival, a group of students waited and welcomed us as the Steelbird landed on the academy's massive front yard. When the hatch was opened, Jonah, Nyssa, and I were able to see the class A students who were waiting for us.
And right after they saw us, their disappointed faces could be seen.
Apparently, everyone was expecting Nathan to be with us. When they heard the news that we are returning to the academy, everyone from class A wishes to welcome him back after going missing for a while. Everyone cared for him as if he was their idol, and for sure, Nathan has gotten very famous lately.
Jonah had to apologize to everyone. He explained to them about Nathan's condition, about how Nathan had somewhere else to be, and that he cannot come to the academy right away.
And whilst Jonah was doing that, one of the female students came up to me. She told me the news that I might've wanted to hear, and I was surprised.
"Eh? M-My sister is…"
"Yeah. She has been teaching classes for about a week now." The female student from class A explained to me, and I only let out a wild sigh after finding out.
My sister really does whatever she wants… What is she up to now?
Afterwards, everyone set up a welcoming party at the cafeteria for the three of us. Class A has been given freedom to skip classes completely if we wish for it, considering the achievements the special five has done. It was also an experiment by the academy to see if this can be the right teaching conditions for other classes in the future.
However, I excused myself and did not attend the welcoming party. Everyone was disappointed, but I really wanted to see my sister, if she was really teaching here.
And whilst I was walking to the class building, a certain person walked past me.
"Oh? Water princess." That tone, I recognized it very well. I turned around to find the only person in the world who would ever call me 'Water Princess'.
"Eric? Good morning." I greeted him awkwardly, not knowing what to say. This guy was closer to everybody else but me, so I'm not entirely sure what to say to him.
"If you're here, then that means…"
"Uh, no. Nathan is… still busy." I quickly shook my head, which confused him.
"I'm pretty sure I overheard the boys talking at class, saying that you met Nathan at the earth nation."
"Yeah, we found him. But, he didn't want to come to the academy just yet because he had somewhere else to be."
"… Cowardly. Whatever, then." Eric then turned around as he waved his hand to me, and from the way he is heading, it's probably the cafeteria.
Does that guy… just really don't understand anything about Nathan? Whatever. I don't need to concern him anyway.
I continued heading to the classes building, and I arrived at the lobby. The front desk always had an old teacher who oversaw every class that was being attended at the time, and I asked the old teacher regarding my sister's whereabouts.
"Miss Frisena is a fully fledged teacher now. I'm expecting a student to address her as a teacher, even if she is her sister." The old teacher said quite coldly to me, and I let out a sigh at how annoying she is being.
"I understand. Where can I find Miss Frisena?"
"Frisena is currently teaching the third years, at the enclosed arena."
"E-Enclosed arena…? So, class A?" I was surprised because the class she was teaching was so important, and I started heading there immediately after thanking the old teacher.
Upon entry, I realized that the arena was quite rowdy. I can hear shouts coming from the third years as they do their class tasks, and my gaze landed on a young lady with teacher attires.
"Oh? You've made it here." Frisena said to me after she realized I had arrived, and I walked closer to her carefully while watching the scene at the arena happening.
To my surprise… she wasn't the only person who was teaching this class. There is one more person who is currently facing the students, sparring them with just his bare hands. His body is quite tall, but he is also rather thin for his build. The guy is wearing a soldier's outfit, which tells me that he might be one of Frisena's men.
And his origin… is darkness origin? He is fighting five third year class A students all at once, and he is handling them flawlessly.
