"So what do you have for me?" Aiden asked as he leaned over the console, eyes flickering across the dozens of glowing data panels Valeria was analyzing.
Valeria Richards didn't look up. Her eyes were dry, rimmed with stress. "Uhm… Honestly?" she exhaled. "I feel bad, but I have nothing."
She rubbed her temple, frustration biting into her features. "I don't understand this Soul Stone. There's no trace of it. No residual signal, no myth, no signature. It's like trying to find a thought in a void. I might need another Stone… maybe Strange's Time Stone. If I can get my hands on it, maybe I can use its temporal residue to trace fluctuations connected to the other stones. But like this?" She sighed. "Trying to track the Soul Stone without any kind of anchor feels impossible…"
Aiden leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss to her cheek, surprising her into a blink.
"You don't have to be disheartened," he said, voice soft but unwavering. "I know you'll figure something out." He shifted his gaze toward the entrance. "What about Thanos?"
Right on cue, Gwen Stacy walked into the lab, arms full of physical files—Nova records, data slates, alien tech schematics. The moment she saw Aiden, she startled slightly, tripping and dropping the stack in a flurry of falling papers and tablets.
"Ugh—well, same with Thanos," Gwen grumbled, crouching to gather the mess. "We don't have the tech to properly hack alien systems. Even trying to understand the way Thanos' command network operates is like trying to solve quantum algebra blindfolded."
She stood up and held out a tablet. "However, we did manage to break into something…"
Valeria swiveled in her chair. "We got into the Nova Corps' primary database," she said. "Pulled a few encrypted logs. And... surprisingly, they weren't hiding much. At least not from you."
"No secrets?" Aiden raised an eyebrow.
"Nope," said Gwen. "Turns out, their whole 'God Proposal' thing? It was real. And it's been debated among their high councils for months now."
Valeria pulled up a projection. "According to the internal logs, they analyzed galactic unrest, rising celestial threats, the return of the Stones... and they concluded the universe needed a stabilizing figure. A cosmic symbol. You just happened to be the perfect candidate."
"They even had models showing the psychological effect of introducing a divine protector figure," Gwen added. "Their analysts predicted eighty-five percent approval across Nova Prime's population. They really believe this could unite them."
"Huh..." Aiden chuckled. "I thought they'd try to spin something, but they're... honest."
"Shockingly so," said Valeria. "They even compiled multiple case studies proving that faith is a quantifiable power in the universe. Not metaphorically. Literally. Belief can influence physics, enhance strength, even warp probability. They believe empowering you empowers them."
Aiden leaned back, amused. "Galactic politics are so much more... dramatic."
"Oh, and—this is the part you'll wanna hear," Gwen said, swiping to another report. "We pulled their files on Adam Warlock. Apparently, he was artificially created by a group of scientists calling themselves the Enclave. They engineered him to be the 'perfect being.' Golden skin, cosmic potential, mental link to the Soul Stone—though he doesn't have it now."
Valeria continued, "Nova's reports say Warlock was once unstable. Multiple breakdowns. Philosophical crises. He's got this messiah complex and hates the idea of anyone more powerful than him making decisions for others. He follows something he calls the 'Higher Purpose,' but no one knows what it means."
"In short," Gwen finished, "he's powerful, idealistic, stubborn, and might not play well with someone like you, Aiden."
Aiden raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Let him come. If he becomes a problem, I'll solve it."
He pushed off the desk and walked toward the center of the lab. "That said… I want both of you with me this evening."
"Huh?" Gwen tilted her head. "Us?"
"Yeah," Aiden said. "To the war room meeting. I'll need your inputs."
"But… aren't you taking the others?" Gwen asked. "You know, the people actually in the field, like Wanda or Rogue?"
"I'm taking the people I trust," Aiden said plainly. "And I trust you two. Your brains, your intuition, your honesty. I need reliable eyes watching from the backline while I charge ahead."
Gwen rubbed the back of her neck, flustered. "Huh... Thanks. Appreciate it, I guess."
Valeria blinked. "Same."
Aiden turned to her, crossing his arms. "And Val?"
"Yeah?"
"Don't overwork yourself like this. You look like a zombie. Get some damn sleep."
"But—"
"No buts." Aiden raised a hand. "I'll get you the Time Stone from Strange. You'll be able to analyze it yourself. Just leave the Soul Stone for now."
Valeria sighed. "...Fine. But I'm still going to keep my simulations running."
He smiled. "I wouldn't expect anything less."
...
Now, the skies above Earth shimmered with the arrival of the full Nova Fleet. Their grand ships descended like celestial beasts, casting shadows over oceans and cities alike. The world watched with bated breath, news outlets flooded with footage of powerful vessels entering Earth's atmosphere.
But this time, it wasn't panic that gripped humanity. It was resolve.
Nations across the globe had united. A new coalition formed, their militaries quickly adapting to Nova weaponry, joint exercises already underway. A species once divided now prepared as one for war. Against a threat beyond comprehension.
And then… he arrived.
Adam Warlock.
Golden skin glowing with cosmic light, eyes sharp like judgment itself. As he stepped into the Earth Council War Room—designed specifically for this impending battle—his gaze immediately locked onto one individual.
"Dragon God," Adam said, tone regal and composed. "I have heard of your... achievements."
Across from him stood Aiden Blake. Unmoving. Calm.
"Adam Warlock…" he replied. "I've heard of... nothing much."
Tension snapped into the air instantly.
Their gazes met like clashing blades. Neither one backing down. Neither one willing to lower their guard. Two forces of nature eye to eye.
A hearty laugh broke the moment.
"HAHAHA! Now this is a legendary meeting of warriors!" Thor's booming voice filled the hall as he stepped forward. Clad in battle armor, Mjolnir strapped to his belt. Beside him stood Lady Sif, ever his silent sentinel.
"We are here on behalf of Asgard," Thor declared. "And I welcome this mighty convergence!"
General Rael of the Nova Corps moved between Adam and Aiden swiftly, her voice calm but firm. "Gentlemen, I'd like you to redirect that hostility… to our common enemy. Thanos."
Adam scoffed, but took a breath. "Hmph. You are right. For now, I have to defeat the Mad Titan."
Aiden's voice was flat, almost disinterested. "Didn't you already fail at that?"
Warlock's head turned sharply. "I was ambushed. Outnumbered."
"Sounds like excuses to me…"
"Gentlemen—ENOUGH. Please." Rael stepped forward again, steel in her tone.
The room simmered in silence. The tension remained, but its edge dulled for now.
Just then, Captain Marvel walked into the chamber, stride brisk and face grave. Her eyes swept across the gathering of Earth's finest and the Nova elite.
"Let us start the War Council"
