Currently, Daniel Davis only possessed one method to revive the dead: GH-235, a substance extracted from Kree blood in the Marvel universe. However, this only worked within the Marvel universe. It was easy to underestimate the Kree due to their defeats at the hands of Captain Marvel, but the truth was that the Kree weren't weak; Captain Marvel was just too strong.
In the Naruto world, reviving the dead was much easier due to its different rules. In fact, Daniel could effortlessly bring people back to life using techniques like Edo Tensei. He could summon the soul back, clone a body using the person's cells, and transfer the soul into the new body. This method was far simpler than the Rinnegan's Rinne Rebirth.
Since the clone would be made from the person's own cells, there would be no soul rejection, and any issues regarding the short lifespan of the clone could be solved by merging the clone with Hashirama's cells.
Clones typically don't have souls, which is their primary difference from natural-born humans. However, this isn't an absolute rule; miracles abound in the universe, and even clones could develop souls under certain circumstances.
Despite knowing how to revive people, Daniel didn't intend to abuse this power. The only people he might help revive would be the Fourth Hokage and his wife. As for others, like Sasuke's parents, that would be Sasuke's responsibility once he acquired the Rinnegan. This would also give Sasuke additional motivation to grow stronger.
As for Daniel's interest in finding Chino from the Lightning Group, it was more a spur-of-the-moment decision, and he didn't want her to end up in the Hidden Mist Village, as she did in the future. Konoha had been too careless, sending bloodline users like Chino and others to different villages. For example, members of the Lightning Group ended up in the Hidden Mist, while the many Kekkei Genkai fighters from the underground arena were sent to the Hidden Cloud Village. Konoha only enjoyed peace because it had Naruto and Sasuke as pillars, much like the peace that reigned when the First Hokage was alive. But as soon as the First died, the First Shinobi War broke out.
"Sorry."
"Fushin..."
When Daniel told Chino that Fushin was beyond saving, she threw herself onto Fushin's body, weeping. She cried until she lost consciousness, as her injuries had been severe, and she had been holding on through sheer willpower.
"Ah, I remember she's a little older than Sasuke. With that body, does she count as a legal loli?" After checking on Chino and confirming she was in no mortal danger, Daniel began tidying up the area. First, he used Earth Release to bury the six Mist Anbu together. Then he carried Chino and Fushin's body away from the scene.
"Fushin..." After regaining consciousness in a rundown shrine in the bamboo forest, Chino rushed outside, only to find Daniel standing there.
"You're awake," Daniel said, turning to smile at her.
"Where's Fushin?" Chino asked urgently.
"Here." Daniel stood up and led her to the back of the shrine, where a small, new grave stood, marked by a simple stone inscribed with Fushin's name.
"Fushin..." Chino stood in front of the grave, tears streaming down her face again. This time, however, she did not wail but instead spoke in a voice full of hatred.
"They killed you... I won't let them get away with this." Wiping away her tears, Chino turned and started to leave.
"Where are you going?"
"Revenge."
"You're no match for the Hidden Mist Village."
"My enemies aren't the Mist," Chino said, pausing for a moment before revealing the story behind her, Fushin, and the Lightning Group.
"You want revenge on the people of Take-no-village?"
"That's right. Are you going to stop me?" Chino asked, staring intently at Daniel.
"What would you do if I tried?"
"I'd kill you." Chino's Blood Dragon Eyes turned crimson as she spoke.
"I see." With that, Daniel turned and walked away. If Naruto were here, he'd try everything to stop her from seeking revenge, but Daniel wasn't that kind of person. The villagers had benefited greatly from the Lightning Group, but when the group was in danger, the villagers tried to distance themselves. While understandable, it was still a betrayal.
Chino's desire for revenge was equally understandable. For her, the Hidden Mist Village wasn't her true enemy; the real betrayal came from the people of Take-no-village.
Daniel didn't believe in repaying evil with good. He preferred to repay kindness with kindness and to meet injustice with justice.
That said, he wasn't interested in watching Chino carry out her revenge.
"Hungry? Have some roast chicken," Daniel said, offering her some grilled chicken he had caught earlier using his Observation Haki. He hadn't followed her to Take-no-village, but the explosion and fire were visible from the shrine, which wasn't far from the village.
Chino returned, looking no more satisfied than before, despite her revenge. Daniel handed her the chicken.
"Do you have anywhere else to go?" While Daniel's main interest was the Blood Dragon Eyes, he didn't mind letting Chino go if she had other plans. He wasn't like Orochimaru, who treated people as pawns.
"Who are you?" Chino asked, having finished the roast chicken. After rushing off for revenge without eating, she was quite hungry.
"I'm just a traveler," Daniel replied after thinking for a moment.
"A traveler, huh? Can I follow you?" Chino asked after a long pause.
"Follow me? You don't even know me. Aren't you afraid I might be a bad person?"
"Good, bad... does it matter?" Chino said with a bitter smile. The Lightning Group had always done good deeds, only to meet such a tragic end. This had deeply affected her worldview.
"Don't make that face. You're still young. The world is full of beautiful things. Smile more," Daniel said, patting her on the head. To his surprise, her hair felt soft and pleasant to the touch.
"Let's get ready and leave."
Ever since arriving in the Naruto world, Daniel had been busy training. Now, since he was near the Land of Hot Water, he decided to take some time off and explore it properly with Chino.
The Land of Hot Water, though a small country, was very prosperous due to its beautiful scenery and famous hot springs, making it a popular vacation spot for wealthy individuals and shinobi alike. Jiraiya, in particular, loved visiting the Land of Hot Water.
The country had a wide variety of hot springs, each offering different benefits, such as relaxation, healing, weight loss, and skin care.
Daniel himself had a beauty hot spring in the Pirate World, located on his secret base island, which offered excellent skin-care benefits. However, he rarely had the chance to enjoy it, as it was mostly used by Chelsea, Akame, and the others. Being a man, he had no real reason to compete for time in a women's bath.
The beauty hot spring, created with Nen, had primarily cosmetic benefits, but it also helped relieve fatigue.
"Hidan was from the Land of Hot Water, wasn't he? Speaking of which, what's the deal with that 'Jashin' of his? Is it really a god, or is Hidan's immortality just a bloodline limit or some kind of secret technique?"
Since he was in the Land of Hot Water, Daniel's thoughts naturally drifted to Hidan of the Akatsuki. Hidan's ability, Death Controlling Possessed Blood, was impressive, though it wouldn't work against everyone. For example, Orochimaru wouldn't die even if his heart were pierced.
"I should find time to visit the Hidden Rain Village too. Looks like Sasuke joining the Akatsuki is inevitable. This time, though, it'll be the Akatsuki crushing the Shinobi world."
Sasuke couldn't unify the Shinobi world on his own, but with the Akatsuki's help, things would be different.
Daniel was confident he could convince Nagato, Konan, and Sasuke to join forces. Worst case, he could always bring Yahiko back to life.
"Nagato and Obito... those two really are a piece of work. The Rinnegan can revive people, yet neither of them thought to bring back Yahiko or Rin."
"Now that's the smile of a child." After days of exploring the Land of Hot Water's scenic spots, shopping, and soaking in various hot springs, Chino finally had a genuine smile on her face.
"I'm not a child," she pouted, pushing away Daniel's hand as he ruffled her hair.
"Alright, you're not a child. Let's go have a feast tonight." Daniel and Chino had been living it up in the Land of Hot Water, even booking an entire hot spring inn for themselves. When they visited other hot springs, they always booked the whole place. When you had money, you could afford to be extravagant.
"Not the same food again. Let's try something different. I'll pick the place."
"Sure."
Chino ended up picking a rather ordinary izakaya, which she chose because they served her favorite tempura.
Daniel didn't mind. Even though he had plenty of money and could enjoy the finest cuisine, he was just as happy to eat at a street stall. If it hadn't been for Chino, he wouldn't have gone so extravagant this time
. Unlike some rich people, he didn't mind eating simple meals; even Tony Stark bought hamburgers from street vendors.
"Did you hear? They say Doctor Shennong has appeared in Mita Village. Apparently, there's been a plague outbreak there." While enjoying their meal, Daniel overheard a nearby conversation that piqued his interest.
"Yeah, thank goodness for him. Who knows how many people would've died otherwise."
"Not many people like him around anymore. Oh, and did you hear? The Lightning Group was wiped out by the Mist Village after trying to target the Daimyo of the Land of Water."
The mention of the Lightning Group instantly erased the smile from Chino's face.
"Sorry to interrupt, but could you tell me more about this Doctor Shennong?" Daniel asked the two men at the next table with a smile.
"You haven't heard of Doctor Shennong?" One of the middle-aged men seemed surprised at Daniel's ignorance.
"We're not from around here. Judging by your words, he seems to be quite an incredible person."
"Of course! Doctor Shennong is a savior to ordinary people, traveling around offering free medical treatment wherever it's needed." The two men took turns explaining all the good deeds Doctor Shennong had done.
"Wow, I didn't know there was someone like that. I'd love to meet him. Could you tell me how to get to Mita Village?"
"You don't want to go there now. It's plagued with disease."
"But didn't you say Doctor Shennong is there? With someone as skilled as him, surely the plague will be under control soon."
"That's true..." The men, who clearly had great faith in Shennong, nodded in agreement and gave Daniel directions to Mita Village.
"Thanks. Your bill is on me today." Daniel, in a good mood after learning about Shennong's whereabouts, smiled as he offered to cover their expenses.
Doctor Shennong, huh? On the surface, Shennong was a kind-hearted doctor who treated the poor for free. But in reality, he was the leader of the remnants of the Hidden Sky Village and was secretly working on a project to create the Zero-Tails.
Shennong was also the one who had developed the cell activation technique. Orochimaru had been in contact with him for years. While Orochimaru's mastery of technology was impressive, others weren't far behind. Take Hiruko, for instance—his Chimera Technique was just as advanced as Orochimaru's work.
Daniel wasn't particularly interested in Shennong's cell activation technique. While Shennong may have pioneered it, Orochimaru had already made significant improvements to the process over the years.
Nor was Daniel interested in the Zero-Tails creation technique. What truly intrigued him was Angkor Fortress, a flying fortress once owned by the Hidden Sky Village.
The Hidden Sky Village had once been a powerful shinobi village, second only to the Five Great Shinobi Villages. They had been especially active during the First Shinobi War. However, during the Second Shinobi War, their leader, believing their strength had grown immense, made the foolish decision to challenge the strongest of the Five Great Villages—Konoha. The Hidden Sky Village was wiped out.
The village had focused on developing powerful weapons, but their individual shinobi weren't particularly strong. If they had proper supplies and preparation, their destructive power was formidable. However, if their supply lines were cut, their weapons were useless—like modern guns without bullets.
During the Second Shinobi War, Konoha had used this strategy to destroy the Hidden Sky Village. As seen in the Naruto movie Bonds, an entire army of Sky shinobi was wiped out by a single shinobi, Shino Aburame.
"That Shennong guy seems suspicious." On their way to Mita Village, Chino finally spoke up.
"Oh? How do you know?"
"Just a guess."
"Smart girl," Daniel praised, nodding in approval. He didn't elaborate on Shennong's secrets, though.
"I see." Daniel and Chino didn't enter Mita Village openly but instead snuck in. After examining the so-called plague victims, Daniel quickly understood what was happening.
"What's going on?" Chino asked, noticing his expression.
"This plague... Shennong created it himself. It's all a setup."
