A beast-horned bone goblet was crushed into powder in Lafei's hand. Crimson wine dripped from his fingers onto the floor, and his somber face lifted from the shadows, casting an eerie glance at the gilded invitation in his other hand that came from the Immortal Palace.
Two pieces of news were inscribed on it:
One, the legendary Fire and Trickery God Loki had returned to Asgard. The other, Divine King Odin and Goddess Freya had conceived a bloodline of their own.
To celebrate these momentous events, the Immortal Palace had extended invitations to all the strong of the Nine Great Kingdoms to a grand banquet, where the future of the Nine Realms would be discussed.
This was both a gesture of goodwill and a show of power.
Lafei casually tossed the invitation onto the table, his voice low and heavy:
"Summon Saki and tell him I have something important to discuss with him."
