Chapter 4125: Once Rolled Across
Lin Moyu wasn't worried about the Spirit Demon Clan; they weren't natives of this world, and if things got truly dangerous, they could just leave. For now, the mutated wild beast couldn't break through the Hengduan Mountains, and with Lin Moyu guarding the area, there was no immediate threat.
He was content to wait and see how things developed: whether Tun Yuan would evolve to another level, what changes the arrival of the Soulless Beast would bring, and how the chaos in the Great Wilderness would play out until a victor emerged. In this turmoil, the cultivators like Lin Moyu had become a fourth force.
Lin Moyu didn't idle he continued setting up formations, while Old Yin head busied himself repairing the ones he'd damaged earlier. At the same time, Lin Moyu dispatched large numbers of undead servants into the Great Wilderness, beginning a true exploration of the region.
Since the evolution of heaven and earth, even the Eternals had never truly explored the core of the Great Wilderness. Lin Moyu thought this might be his chance to learn something. Even if he couldn't reach the core, at least he could map the boundaries.
He sensed that the Great Wilderness was far more complex than it appeared and that its purpose was not just to breed Dao Wild Beasts.
After the recent battle, peace returned to the Hengduan Mountains. Old Yin head, after fixing the formations, stuck close to Lin Moyu like a loyal follower.
A few days later, An Yuyan left to return to her palace. Every Eternal had their own palace in the Hengduan Mountains. In her palace, An Yuyan used the Cause and Effect Great Dao to set up her own grand formation, hoping to deduce the future of the Great Wilderness. The appearance of the mutated wild beast made her uneasy.
She ran countless simulations, but the results varied wildly sometimes good, sometimes bad. The backlash from the Cause and Effect Dao left her aura unstable. Using the formation to divine the future wasn't something she did often, and the backlash was unpleasant.
After a hundred attempts, she sent a message to the Lord of Power, asking him to come.
Soon, his voice came from outside, "Yuyan, I'm here." Seeing her pale face, he asked anxiously, "What's wrong?"
An Yuyan replied, "I suffered some backlash from divining the future, but it's nothing serious. You're here just in time I need your help."
He patted his chest, "Whatever it is, just say the word."
She said, "You saw that mutated beast during the last tide, right?" Even though he hadn't come to the front lines, she was sure he'd noticed.
He explained, "I saw it. You all were well prepared, so I didn't want to get in the way."
She nodded, "That mutated beast makes me uneasy. I tried to divine the future, but it's not within causality my results aren't accurate. I ran a hundred simulations and got over a dozen different outcomes. Please pass these results to the other Daoists so they're aware." She handed him a jade slip with her findings.
He said, "Alright, leave it to me. I'll make sure the message gets through."
In the Origin Land, there were twenty one Great Daos. Excluding those in dormancy and counting Lin Moyu, there were ten people: the Human Emperor, Old Yin head, An Yuyan, the Lord of Power, and six others. These six weren't in the Origin Ancestral Land and might be in seclusion or busy elsewhere. Every Eternal was busy with their own affairs, so contacting each one was no easy task.
With this task handed off, An Yuyan could focus on her own work. The Lord of Power asked, "What about you?"
She replied, "I'll keep divining there are still factors unaccounted for. Even if I can't get a clear answer, I can at least narrow the range." He nodded, "Don't overdo it, though."
After he left, she sighed, "This is all I can do." The mutated beast was strong, but couldn't defeat the Eternals in a direct fight. In her divinations, Lin Moyu was always the key to the final outcome, but anything involving him became a fog his presence made all predictions blurry and much more difficult.
Still, she didn't give up, continuing her attempts, hoping that quantity would make up for the lack of clarity.
Meanwhile, Lin Moyu's undead were constantly sending back information from the Great Wilderness. He'd explored it before, but only superficially. This time, the undead fanned out in all directions, first mapping the boundaries.
"So the Great Wilderness does have borders…" Lin Moyu mused aloud, surprising Old Yin head.
Old Yin head replied, "Of course, the Great Wilderness has borders. I've rolled across them myself."
Lin Moyu looked over, "You've been there, Senior?"
He nodded, "A long time ago, I got curious and rolled across the Great Wilderness. I knew the core was inaccessible, so I skirted the edge, planning to circle around."
"But as I rolled, I reached the boundary a very smooth edge. I followed it deeper and rolled for ages. Eventually, the wild beasts noticed me and started chasing me. I didn't care about ordinary Dao Wild Beasts or even Beast Kings I just kept rolling."
"Eventually, I found a royal pool, and then a Beast Emperor chased me. We fought to a draw, but I couldn't keep rolling and had to turn back. During the fight, I entered the royal pool to see what was inside guess what I saw?"
Lin Moyu shook his head, "Please, just tell me."
Old Yin head grinned, "The royal pool was different from other filth pools there was only one wild beast body, that of a Beast Emperor. I'm sure you can guess why."
Lin Moyu nodded he'd already heard enough from An Yuyan and the Spirit Demon Emperors to figure it out. The royal pool could nurture a Beast Emperor, but not directly. It would first produce a few extremely powerful Beast Kings, who would then fight. The victor became the Beast Emperor. Once a Beast Emperor appeared, his power would feed back into the pool, making it a royal pool. From then on, it would only nurture Beast Emperors just one at a time, because the body was so powerful.
The Beast Emperor's body in the royal pool was prepared for the next Beast Emperor. When one died, his soul would return to the pool and re enter the body, reviving.
Suddenly, Lin Moyu felt a chill he had a bad feeling.
