"Let's get divorced, Shane," she said seriously, her tone calm but unwavering as she watched him intently, searching his face for any flicker of resistance.
"Why?" he said, his voice barely more than a whisper. It trembled slightly, like he already knew the answer but hoped hearing it out loud might change something. Her lips curved into a sad, almost regretful smile.
"Why? Our marriage was never a good one, Shane. It's not like we married for love or anything," she said, her voice growing quieter, but not softer.
"You married me to get revenge on my father. I've always known that. And I know very well that you still hate me," she said, her gaze hardening. "Have you forgotten how you almost killed me a few weeks ago? And what you did ti me on the night of our wedding banquet?"
She spoke coldly now, the warmth stripped from her voice, leaving only ice and memory behind.
