Chapter 196 - Chapter 195 - News about the chaos

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]

Third Person POV

Hogwarts.

...

...

Severus got up that morning as he slowly opened his eyes and turned his gaze to the side, finding the redhead sleeping in his bed, with one of her hands thrown over him.

Rosário had gotten into his bed during the night, and even though he noticed it, he ended up saying nothing and continued sleeping.

"You should be awake and heading to the common room." He said.

"That's true... but this is so nice." She said sleepily, taking in the scent.

"You know this is weird... smelling my bed." He commented as he got out of bed, adjusting his robes and hair with a spell.

"You think so?" She asked a bit embarrassed, seeing that Snape might actually think she was strange.

"Anyway, let's go to the common room." He said and she straightened herself and quickly put on her professor's clothes.

"I'm ready." She said, while he watched her.

Both left the Room of Requirement and headed toward the common room, entering shortly after.

They quickly heard a flood of murmurs that all the students were exchanging that morning with all the tables crowded with students wanting to know what had happened.

After all, the wizarding world hadn't rested the night before.

They were so caught up in it that they didn't even care about the notorious Snape and Professor Rosária entering together, which only served to further fuel the rumors of a relationship between the two.

Instead, one student shouted at another, as they began to share what they knew and debated their theories, according to what they had heard from their own sources, internally or externally.

"You-Know-Who attacked a Muggle city!"

"The so-called second Dark Lord appeared too!"

"My father sent a letter early in the morning. He said most of the Death Eaters and dark wizards were destroyed!"

"My God! What?! What's going to happen now? How will we, as wizards, be safe after Hogwarts?"

"I think I'm leaving England."

"My family is already planning it. They don't want to stay in the middle of all this madness."

People were discussing everything they knew through unofficial means, while spreading the information among themselves.

Snape wasn't surprised that the students were reacting like this, but what he really wanted to know was how the Muggle world would react to it. That wasn't something that could be hidden.

In any case, Rosária moved toward the teachers' table, and Snape went to the Slytherin table.

"Severus." Clarisse greeted him, and as she did, cast a suspicious glance at the professor, noticing them together.

"Did you see what happened?" She asked, changing the subject, since he lived in the Room of Requirement. He might not know what had happened.

"Yeah... I heard about it." He replied, quickly grabbing something to eat and ignoring all the gossip.

The Slytherin table didn't seem very happy.

"My uncle died..."

"My father was killed..."

"How could they have done this?!"

"They say black creatures massacred them like animals."

That was the conversation among the Slytherin wizards, stunned by what had happened, an event on a much greater scale than anything that had ever happened before.

There was crying, hatred, anger, and caution in their expressions in every year group.

Snape had killed over a hundred people working for Voldemort. So clearly, there were many of their relatives and acquaintances there.

"Lucas Nott... was killed along with four other students who left Hogwarts last year."

There was also fear — knowing that their companions had been killed left them afraid.

"My father said that the one everyone is fearing also showed up. He summoned hundreds of creatures that spread through the city, massacring all the wizards who were on You-Know-Who's side. They ignored all the Aurors. They were slaughtered like animals."

Clarisse began to speak, while Snape merely shook his head, knowing better than anyone what had happened.

"Anyway, strangely... my father wants to schedule a meeting with you. He said it's quite urgent. Can you imagine what it's about?" She asked.

"No idea, must be something about my new ingredient order from your family." Snape said, shrugging.

She shrugged as well, wondering what it could be, while Snape knew it was exactly about the incident. Arthur clearly already wanted to speak to him ever since the attacks he had been making on the great families.

They continued talking, discussing what had happened and how the Ministry was dealing with it — and even the families themselves.

Then came the newspapers. They started to arrive, and everyone immediately exclaimed when a group of all kinds of mail-animals rushed through the hall, beginning to deliver newspapers that everyone had obviously ordered.

One of them dropped onto Clarisse's table. Snape was curious and looked over, wondering why he hadn't ordered one himself, since he never really cared for the news, only the big stories that drew attention and were talked about at the school.

But then, a newspaper landed on top of Snape, which surprised him, as he hadn't bought one.

"I knew you hadn't ordered one, so I already took care of it."

The handwriting was Rosária's, with her signature on a paper on top of the newspaper.

He looked at her as she smiled in her chair, with half the teachers absent that morning, and he thanked her with a nod and began reading the headline.

THE WAR BETWEEN THE TWO DARK LORDS was the title.

"You-Know-Who launched an attack on a Muggle city, and chaos quickly spread with hundreds of deaths, Muggles being killed in horrific ways by wizards using Unforgivables and werewolves.

The Ministry and Muggle forces were quickly called in, sending their reinforcements, and a battle began.

But then the Second Dark Lord appeared, summoning an army of strange and shadowy creatures of various forms, spreading through the city and massacring werewolves, dark wizards, and Death Eaters. A true massacre.

But make no mistake: we do not know the intent of this being, who has control over those black monsters. We do not know what he is, and there has never been a single record in all of history of creatures like these.

It is a type of magic completely different from any other dark magic, but extremely dangerous, as he slaughtered with them half of You-Know-Who's forces within a few hours.

It was also noted that the creatures resurrect even after the Killing Curse.

We do not yet know his residence, but it's clear he wants to get rid of You-Know-Who.

If we were all trembling before You-Know-Who in recent years, we should fear this one even more, for he is clearly stronger and is only now beginning to rid himself of the First Dark Lord."

"Where is the angel that was released in the city?" Someone asked among the tables.

"She doesn't talk about him."

"It's on the next page." Another commented.

Snape raised an eyebrow at that, but soon his gaze returned to the author of the article: Rita Skeeter, a recent Hogwarts graduate, a journalist specializing in wizarding events for the Daily Prophet.

Snape raised an eyebrow. He knew who the woman was — a young graduate who had a certain rivalry with the newspaper created by a Hogwarts student, where Snape had been frequently mentioned since the previous year.

'Looks like she did well after graduating.'

In any case, Snape set it aside and turned the page, seeing the photo of the Expecto Patronum he had cast over the city.

"The Expecto Patronum of a winged creature, which Muggles describe as an angel — a divine being in their religion — was cast in the middle of the chaos after the dark wizards had fled... And it is extremely powerful, able to heal the entire city with its light. No one knows who cast it," the text read.

Snape wanted to laugh at that. After all, they raised many possibilities throughout the article, but none that pointed to him. Clearly, the Ministry knew very well who had cast it, but didn't want to admit it, preferring to label him as an enemy. They were still maintaining his reputation as a Dark Lord.

"Who could cast that Patronus in its most powerful form," Clarisse murmured beside him, enchanted by the form of the angel.

Snape had never cast one that size in the last two times he had used the spell, but he had always had that potential.

At the same time, flipping through the pages, the Ministry scandals began to appear, showing the Minister being questioned with GIF images from early dawn. The situation was far from easy for her — she would probably lose her position, as the article stated, and Snape also believed she would have to resign.

Meanwhile, the Muggle world was equally shaken, as authorities began to release statements claiming it had been an accident — something about a biological weapon, or even a nuclear plant accident that never existed in that region.

Snape knew they had no idea how to explain it.

And this was certainly sparking protests across England, with people demanding the truth, alongside images of the city in flames in various areas. At the same time, they were removing all brooms flying in the sky, which were being featured in some Muggle newspapers.

"Attention, Hogwarts students!"

Suddenly, a voice rose. None other than Minerva approaching the headmaster's podium, where she began her speech.

"I know things are confusing and quite concerning for everyone — for the wizarding world and the Muggle world — but I ask that you remain calm. The school will take a short break in a few days, and we will be enforcing certain rules from now on due to the scale of this event and the danger it may represent to all."

She began. Snape stood up, said goodbye to Clarisse, and disappeared, not bothering with Professor McGonagall's speech.

Things were chaotic, and the days passed with no one talking about anything else. Classes were suspended for the first two days, and students were allowed to return home if they wished — although the professors would not recommend it, due to the danger looming over the wizarding world, and Hogwarts remaining the safest place.

Snape was focused on finding more paintings throughout the school, moving through everything he knew — and didn't know — of the castle.

The Minister officially stepped down three days later, beginning the moment when a new Minister would be chosen.

Snape raised an eyebrow at that.

He got lucky asking me for that favor to cover up the battle with Dumbledore. If she knew what really happened... she'd be furious with me.

After all, no one could suspect that a Hogwarts student had fought against the wizard considered by many to be the greatest of all time. At the same time, he knew new suspicions would begin — not regarding his shop or even the two figures the wizarding world had labeled and now considered to be the same person: the declared Second Dark Lord.

But certainly, the dark wizards knew he had some kind of connection with the Black family — and even the Valenstein family.

Perhaps it wouldn't last much longer, and this would be his final year as a Hogwarts student. But that didn't matter. What mattered now was collecting all the portraits from the school.

He returned to the Room of Requirement, where he moved toward his potion-making chamber, which had expanded to the point of becoming a vast hall, where two hundred cauldrons were active, while shadows of wizards — and even other creatures highly skilled in potion-making — were working.

This was the result of the battle he had fought in the Muggle city.

He had created an army out of the wizards he killed, now set to work at the cauldrons... Snape had raised his potion production to a level so high that not even his shop could sell all of it, despite how successful it was.

"It's time I expand my business." Snape commented, satisfied to see all those shadows working.

He needed money for future plans, and perhaps beginning to dominate the entire financial system of England would be a great plan, he thought, as he vanished and headed to his shop.

He carried more than twenty bags full of potions for Geninho to take care of, when he unexpectedly encountered someone he had set aside for the moment.

Arthur Greengrass was visiting the shop at that moment, as Snape approached him.
