Chapter 48 - Chapter 19: Decisive Battle of fallen Yava Viskans

The humungous beast slowly started to move towards them. "Carciyan, get ready to fight!" Tlenion shouted, preparing for the battle. Carciyan hesitated for some time, but within a few seconds, he regained his senses and then took his stance.

"NOW!" Tlenion shouted, pulling his bowstring to the fullest. "Stop," a calm voice filled their ears. Tlenion and Carciyan looked at each other's faces in shock and confusion and then slowly turned back.

The beast also stopped in his place and looked towards them. A smile filled his face, and he resumed his movement, but faster than before.

As soon as they turned back, they saw her body was still in that same frozen-like state, but the roots across her blade were falling.

Thirteen to fifteen roots had already fallen, and a few were remaining, which soon touched the ground. A thin dust layer forming around her body started to crack, and then it scattered on the ground, reacting to her body's movement.

She took her first step but got unbalanced, quickly regaining her footing. She looked towards that beast, which had already reached the attacking area. "Okay, now let me handle it! You go and control the remaining beasts," she shouted and moved towards that humungous beast.

Carciyan and Tlenion were shocked and confused about what just happened, but they had no time to waste. The area was covered by the roars of the beasts. "What is happening?" Carciyan tried to ask as the area shook with the combined force of those beasts' roars.

"This has started, Carciyan! Let's go! I cannot handle this anymore." Tlenion shouted, but Carciyan wasn't able to hear what he said in that sound, but understood his concern and nodded his head.

Meanwhile

"What is happening, sir?" one of the Yava Viskans asked him in confusion. "Wlier shouted, "Everyone get ready! Beasts are free. Get ready to charge!" Most of them were covered in fear, but they didn't have time to even express their fear.

"Argghhh!" Hundreds of beasts around them returned to life and surrounded them within a few minutes or so. "This is the moment! Either you live or die, but before that, escape!" Wlier shouted.

Battle began.

Hundreds of beasts carrying nothing started to move towards their prey. Wlier swung his blade and cut a beast's neck and then moved to kill other beasts. The area was soon filled with the blood of humans as well as those of beasts. Within a few minutes, more than twenty humans were killed, and several were injured.

Wlier's one arm had fallen on the ground, but he remained unaffected, ready to attack the beast. His eyes were showing a spark of that bluish energy he failed again and again to understand.

"I am not done yet; I still can handle some of you," he shouted. His eyes were growing heavy, but he stood still.

"Sir, please run! You don't have to die for us," an injured Yava Viskan shouted, trying to convince him, but he remained unfazed. One of the beasts moved closer to him and bit him.

He dodged its attack at the very last moment, but it was too quick for him. His forehead was hit very badly, and blood started to roll across his face. His head started to sway, but he controlled it and attacked the beast.

The beast wasn't expecting this and tried to move back, but he grabbed it in his arm and stabbed his blade into its neck, then pulled his hands back. The beast was injured but alive.

Wlier's face was covered in his own blood, and his eyes had turned red, his vision fading away. "I cannot die yet," his eyes flickered for some time but failed. He roared in anger. "Sir…" The injured Yava Viskans were filled with tears, and the other brave Yava Viskans were trying their best, but they were also busy holding the beasts back.

Wlier held his head and then tried to focus, but it was no good. He was pushed a few steps back due to the pain. That beast he attacked looked towards Wlier in anger and hatred and moved to kill him. It tried to kill him, but before it could attack him, its neck was bitten by another beast. That beast was thrown back into the sky.

That beast slowly moved towards that person still trying to stand in his place. That beast raised its leg, pinning him down on the ground. The impact made a small crater in the ground, filled with red liquid from the area around his head.

"SIR…!" people shouted in fear. One of them moved near his lifeless body and started crying, holding his body. He moved his head towards the sky, but before he could see the sky, he saw the beast's teeth. He closed his eyes in mixed emotions of fear, anger, hatred, helplessness, and acceptance.

He started recalling memories he spent with Wlier.

And then a recent memory stuck in his mind.

Wlier stood in front of him, extending his arm to take the beast's attack head-on. "Crunch!" The beast's teeth launched deep into his bone and muscle, but he tried to remain strong.
