However, unlike the now miserable vampire, the werewolf's situation was much better. The intense light only temporarily blinded him without causing injury, but the vampire's painful howls unnerved him.
This complete loss of vision and sensory perception was something the werewolf had never experienced. As a renowned dark creature, he could see clearly even in the dark, and his sensory abilities far exceeded those of ordinary people. But now, the werewolf couldn't sense anything. He was surrounded by a blinding white light, leaving him disoriented.
"Hmm, it seems you aren't afraid of sunlight," Robert observed the trembling yet unscathed werewolf. The sunlight energy from his Solar Flare technique began to change.
Since discovering the unique traits of Clark and Kara, Robert had modified the Solar Flare. What he had just released was merely energy infused with sunlight. Now, he transformed this sunlight-infused energy into an actual attack.
"Shhh!"
Before the werewolf could understand what was happening, the vampire's screams grew louder, and the werewolf felt a stinging pain around his body.
This pervasive energy was eroding the werewolf's body. He instinctively tried to dodge, but the sunlight had already sealed the area, immobilizing him just like the vampire suppressed by the sunlight.
"Who is this guy? What power is this? Am I going to die here today?" The werewolf was terrified. He knew he was facing a formidable opponent and doubted he could survive this encounter.
"This is a formidable enemy! His power severely restrains us vampires!" The vampire was also deeply troubled. Enduring the pain, he worried for his race.
"Who is this guy? Could he be a legendary Sun God? Or perhaps a superhuman with similar abilities? With such a powerful body and abilities that counter dark creatures, this guy cannot be allowed to live!"
Robert didn't expect the vampire's torment wouldn't scare him into submission. The vampire was still thinking of countering Robert, while the less harmed werewolf considered surrendering.
"Now, can you honestly tell me what your relationship is?" Robert asked, looking at the now bloody vampire and glancing at the gang member accidentally killed by his energy. He spoke without any remorse or guilt. He wouldn't hesitate to kill the gang member again if necessary.
The werewolf felt the pressure ease slightly after hearing Robert's question. He decided to reveal the truth to save his life. If he died, nothing else would matter.
"I'll talk..." The vampire, hearing the werewolf's voice, knew what the werewolf meant despite being unable to see him. Sneering inwardly at the werewolf's choice, he reluctantly spoke.
"Thud!" "Splat!"
Two distinct sounds followed as Robert retracted his energy. The werewolf and vampire, previously suspended in mid-air, fell. The werewolf landed relatively safely, but the heavily injured vampire suffered further damage upon hitting the ground.
Both the werewolf and vampire struggled to get up immediately, not to escape but to show their respect to Robert, hoping he wouldn't kill them.
"Sir, may I know your name?" The vampire, despite his severe injuries, was the first to speak respectfully to Robert, trying to find out his identity.
"Sir, we are partners!" The werewolf, anxious that the vampire had spoken first, quickly added more respectfully.
Yes, the werewolf even performed a perfect bow, making Robert wonder which country he came from to have such practiced movements.
The werewolf's extra deference was because he believed that both he and the vampire knew valuable information. If the vampire spoke first, his own value would diminish, and he didn't want to die because of that.
Goodness, the competition was on...
The vampire didn't expect the werewolf to be so undignified. He thought speaking humbly to Robert was crossing a line, but the werewolf surpassed that, acting with no bottom line at all.
"Partners? Then why pretend to be enemies?" Robert asked, raising an eyebrow and looking at the werewolf.
Robert no longer looked at the vampire, feeling the werewolf might provide more useful information. Also, Robert's mental abilities could sense if the werewolf was lying.
Mind reading could be used, but it only accessed key memories, which might not be what Robert wanted. Asking first and using mind reading if necessary seemed better.
"People generally believe werewolves and vampires are enemies. Disguising ourselves as such is logical and avoids suspicion," the werewolf quickly explained, seeing the vampire about to speak.
The vampire was momentarily speechless, but then saw an opportunity as Robert's attention was now on the werewolf.
The vampire's energy began to flow, slightly healing his injuries, but otherwise, he didn't change much.
Robert glanced at the vampire but continued questioning the werewolf. "So, you weren't originally enemies? Why hide your identities?"
"A long time ago, we were enemies. But as time progressed, we realized continued hostility benefited neither side. Especially with humans advancing technologically and developing extraordinary powers, fighting each other seemed unwise," the werewolf revealed.
"Of course, our cooperation was triggered by an ancestor who approached our leaders, proving our bloodlines were related and urging us to unite for mutual strength in the new era. With his superior power and verified claims, we began cooperating."
"All vampires and werewolves are from the same lineage?" Robert was surprised, sensing differences in the aura of this vampire and the ones he had previously encountered.
"Well... It seems you've met some lower-bloodline individuals. Our shared bloodline pertains only to our two clans. Each vampire and werewolf clan has unique abilities, but our clans are undoubtedly superior in vitality and combat power," the werewolf boasted with pride, which faded under Robert's amused gaze.
Realizing his life was more important than pride, the werewolf quickly continued. "We aren't native to America. We came here hiding our identities because many American official and extraordinary forces crossed the line, targeting our kind in Europe. We were sent to investigate and retaliate, reclaiming territory here."
"The American officials and extraordinary forces targeted werewolves and vampires? What for?" Robert was puzzled. He could understand their animosity towards the Avengers, but why target werewolves and vampires, and even cross the ocean to do so?
Robert suspected the officials might be researching superpowers and targeted local vampires and werewolves first, then moved to Europe. Europe was the real stronghold of these creatures.
"If the officials targeted locals first, why not earlier? What triggered them to target these clans now? And if something happened to the werewolves, Luke should have contacted Clara and then me," Robert thought, puzzled by the officials' actions.
"We dealt with some officials. They claimed to investigate possible links between us and orcs. It's laughable. They think we are related to those inferior orcs, who can't even form cohesive groups. How could they compare to us?" The werewolf scoffed, explaining the officials' reasoning.
Hearing the werewolf mention orcs, Robert was momentarily speechless. He hadn't expected the root cause to be himself, as his earlier orc disguise diverted the officials' attention to vampires and werewolves.
So, encountering vampires and werewolves tonight was indeed fate...
"Didn't expect that!" Robert laughed, shaking his head. He turned to the vampire. "So, have your reinforcements arrived? Pretty fast..."
