Chapter Five
The next day.
Sofia Hamilton sat in her office, feeling deeply unsettled.
In less than half an hour, the meeting would begin.
She knew full well what awaited her there.
As she gazed at her grandfather's photograph, guilt overwhelmed her.
Her grandfather's mind now resembled that of a child—entirely dependent on others for daily care and support.
If he found out that the company had ultimately fallen into Arthur Baker's hands, how disappointed would he be?
She remembered the smile on his face, and his words echoing in her mind: "I believe you can handle it."
Yet in the end, she had failed to live up to his faith in her.
As the minutes ticked away, Sofia took a deep breath, stood up, and headed to the meeting room.
The shareholders had taken their seats, and the atmosphere in the meeting room was somber and tense.
