[Some weeks after the baptism]
The morning light filtered softly through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room. I rubbed my eyes as I awoke to the smell of pancakes. My hand instinctively reached for Saffron, but of course hit the bed instead.
Today was Anis's birthday. She was finally a whole year old. Her early arrival into the world had been fraught with worry and uncertainty, but she had proven to be a fighter, growing stronger with each passing day. Today was a celebration of her resilience and the joy she had brought into our lives.
Standing up, I smiled at the birthday girl as she snoozed with Pingui in her arms. She was still small, but had grown a lot compared to the premature baby I had welcomed into the world a year ago.
