In the following night, the boys would keep an eye out for the two's recovery. As they spent more time with the duo, they'd start to make discoveries of their own. While Tsukiya would spend her days in creating small paper humans, she would constantly try to sneak out of her bed through Tamamo's influence, her body quickly transforming into a random object in the hospital so she can escape and explore. Whenever that happens, Solomon and Stolas would try to chase after her and bring her back to the bed, much to her annoyance. Conversely, Envy would remain stationary, still. He would avoid most of the interactions with the nurses and doctors, only doing small nods as he does his check-up. Zazel would try to have him budge, yet he mainly prefers to hold his tongue, raising his arm and elongating it, tar oozing out from the grown appendage, a tendril of pitch black so he can reach and take a book, specifically one of Shakespeare's plays: King Lear. The demon grew hesitant as he'd see the book, causing the Slime to be confused. He'd choose to get a different book, in order to make him more comfortable with sticking around.
Meanwhile, Harvard would be focused on the operation, trying to take into Envy's words about how others were traumatized by Jesta's influence. As the doctors got to work immediately, the anesthesia slowing Applin's breath and letting her sleep, he'd close his own eyes as he'd piece together what occurred. Between broken relationships, broken families, and broken friends, most of the occurrences came in the form of Tragedies. Furthermore, when he and his friends first met the Ringleader, his request came in the form of William Shakespeare's plays. "Works that hold a marvelous story, all being given a sound tragedy" He could recall. Pairing this with the supposed "Prophecy" that both young adults had with one another, he deduced that Jesta must've done something that caused the two to possess such monsters. Furthermore, whatever influence he left on must've been done on their fathers as well. Such thoughts were quick to overwhelm his mind, and as he'd try to concentrate, his body began to succumb to rest.
As the doctors did their job, being careful in their precision to exchange such hearts, the gift Applin had would immediately act, slowly nudging itself under the sheet and fusing itself into her body, timing itself so that it can reach her heart as they switched. As the head doctor would begin his energy to mold the muscles together, his eyes would widen as he'd see such a miracle in action, the chambers not only expanding, but beating a strong, yet steady rate. A small glow came from the chambers, prompting the doctors and nurses to look at each other. "Did we...?" One would ask.
A Nurse would shake her head. "Negative. The heart we received for the procedure didn't had any extra qualities last time I checked. AB+ Blood, 6 meters for rest, based on the tubing it's pushing. 280 grams. It's an exceptional one, for sure, but not to this extent."
"So what should we do? Is it an anomaly? Should we remove the heart?"
"Negative. The incisions already healing. It doesn't seem to be doing anything too major, but we will need to let Ms. Frittania know about this. Keep a close eye on her in Stoken, as well. We may need to do some small check-ups every now and then to ensure her heart's functioning, and hoping whatever's resting there is merciful."
The surgery would inevitably become a success, mass amounts of notes taken to keep in mind when they wake. Come morning, everything was still, quiet. The boys would wake up and see doctors approaching both the Mother and the two adults that were resting. Zazel and the others would be quick on talking with them. "Well, the injuries aren't too drastic, mainly a few burns here and there, some internal damage, but they can be recovered in time with some needed bed rest or a potion. I say they are able to move again." The doctor announced, providing the two with such a vial, being shocked to see them drink it in one swift motion, their wounds being cleansed as a result. "...Aside from that, you really should've made an appointment next time. We were busy last night with the many patients here. You're lucky it was an extreme emergency, what with the king's kins."
"Yeah well, maybe try to schedule your stuff in the daytime then instead of at night? Would be less of a hassle wouldn't it?" Zazel tried to retort, but such words would make the Doctor laugh in joy.
"Oh, silly little child. This IS our night!" He'd respond, taking off his face mask and giving a small smile, showcasing to the children what kind of kingdom they were in: One ruled and populated by Vampires. His sharp teeth and pale skin were a dead ringer, as well as his body having a special coating to protect himself from the sun's rays that try to peer over the windows, a moisturizer to act as a layer of defense. They couldn't help but blink in shock at knowing where Harvard took them, yet they simply shook their head as they began their departure, with Stolas signaling Harvard to come along. As he did, however, he would notice the vast difference he made as he peered through the window, a conversation being made between the grown-ups.
"Well, the operation WAS a Success, though we may have ran into a small complication..." One of the doctors recalled. The mother was already panicking, yet the associates made sure she was calm. "...As we were doing the surgery, the supposed replacement heart had some...additional factors. It was somehow expanding a bit, glowing. We may wish to request that you keep an eye on your child for any side effects. She's going to be bedridden for the next few months, so it should give you more than-"
"Mommy? Mommy, is that you?" The voice of the girl echoed, shocking every grown-up in the area. They turned their heads to see Applin, not only standing, not only walking, but also capable of breathing properly again. What they expected in a few months, was done in a single night. She was quick on reaching for her mother, hugging her leg, giggling a bit. Such laughter, however, stopped when she saw tears forming in her mother's eyes. "What's wrong, Mommy? Did I do something bad?" She asked.
The mother can't help but sob loudly, hugging her daughter as she knelt down to the floor, a big smile on her face. "No! No, you did nothing bad!! Your father would be just as happy as I am! There really is a God out there! Thank you!! Thank you!!!!" She'd cheer, making Applin smile once again. She would be able to peer over her mother's shoulder at the boy she met before, her eyes in awe at how he improved her situation tenfold.
He saved her life.
