Chapter 30 - Chapter 26: Divided Hot Pot

The morning breeze carried a hint of chill as it drifted in through the open window, bringing with it a continuous, enchanting fragrance that refreshed the mind.

The person sleeping in bed unconsciously turned over, wrapping the quilt around even tighter. Such a cozy time was perfect for sleeping in.

But someone rudely lifted the quilt and pulled the person lying in bed up, saying, "How much longer do you plan to sleep!"

Wen Ran awoke from her dream, looking at the bright face of the girl with a bit of confusion.

"I say, did you damage your brain when you fell off the cliff?"

Wen Ran cleared her mind, expressionless, "If I really got brain damage, then you'd have to take care of me for a lifetime."

"Don't even think about trying to blackmail me!" Qiu Shui sat in a chair, crossing her legs and snorted, "I didn't ask you to fall with me. Even if you really got brain damage, I wouldn't be responsible."

This girl!

Wen Ran temporarily refrained from arguing with her, instead examining the room. The decor was simple and elegant; the wooden table and cabinet were made of fine wood, indicating the room's owner was not ordinary.

When Qiu Shui first woke up, she was in the same state as Wen Ran. Seeing Wen Ran's scrutinizing gaze, she said, "No need to look around. I already searched the room and found nothing unusual. The only strange thing is that I currently can't use my Spiritual Power."

Upon hearing this, Wen Ran tried to raise her hand to form seals, but nothing happened, indicating she couldn't use Magic either. She frowned, "What is this place?"

"I don't know either. I only remember falling off a cliff, and then when I woke up, I was here."

Wen Ran noticed something different on herself. Looking down, she saw she was wearing a yellow dress, not her clothes, and looked at the girl also dressed in the yellow of Hidden Abyss Valley, "Did you change my clothes?"

Qiu Shui crossed her arms, raising her chin arrogantly, and said grumpily, "You fell from a waterfall, and your clothes were soaked. I couldn't just watch you get sick and die."

"Oh."

Qiu Shui inexplicably felt a bit uneasy. She glared at Wen Ran, who was sitting on the bed, and raised her voice, "I'm not afraid of you getting sick; I just... just remembered you're some lady from the Ascension Immortal Mansion. If something happens to you, they'd definitely cause trouble for our Hidden Abyss Valley. Hmph, not that we'd be afraid, but if rumors spread that I bullied you, it could damage my reputation as being fair and reasonable, and that's not good."

... Does she have a misunderstanding of the phrase "fair and reasonable?"

Wen Ran stared at Qiu Shui for a long time, "I only said one sentence, did you need to explain so much?"

"If I don't explain, what if you mistake me for some good-for-nothing?" Qiu Shui turned her face away, avoiding Wen Ran's gaze, and muttered in a low voice, "I'm not a good-for-nothing."

This girl's duplicity was both amusing and exasperating.

Wen Ran pretended to believe her and got out of bed, attempting to push the locked door to no avail. She tried once more to activate her Spiritual Power, again without response.

Qiu Shui could take clothes from her Storage Space, yet their Cultivation was restricted?

Wen Ran walked over to the slightly open window. Through the gap, she could see vast expanses of pear trees outside, the white pear blossoms swaying gracefully in the wind. It looked like a sea of white, pure and pristine.

But strangely, the trees here were towering and shaded everything, growing unusually tall.

Pear trees...

This made Wen Ran think of a certain someone.

Seeing Wen Ran standing by the window for a long time, looking thoughtful, Qiu Shui couldn't contain her curiosity and walked over, "What are you thinking about?"

"The owner of this place has restricted our freedom, but it seems they don't intend to harm us."

"Then why did they save us from the bottom of the cliff and then lock us up?"

"I can only guess they must have some plan involving us."

Qiu Shui immediately covered her chest, trembling with fear, "You mean he covets my beauty!"

Wen Ran glanced at the girl's not fully matured, slightly juvenile face and curiously asked, "When you were tied to the waterfall facing a life-and-death crisis, you seemed full of spirit, so why are you acting so timid now?"

"That's because when two armies confront each other, we can't lose our momentum. The person imprisoning us isn't here now, so why should I maintain that brave facade?"

Wen Ran nodded, "Hmm, you have a point."

Qiu Shui's eyes lit up, "You think I'm right, right?"

When Wen Ran looked her way, Qiu Shui quickly turned her head, adopting a haughty posture, "Don't misunderstand, I'm not happy because you agree with me. I always speak reasonably, and there are many who support my ideas."

"Got it, you mean hardly anyone supports your ideas."

Qiu Shui turned back to look at Wen Ran, "You!"

But Wen Ran didn't pay her any mind and thoroughly opened the window.

Qiu Shui temporarily forgot to be angry and watched as Wen Ran, quite ungracefully, lifted her skirt and asked in confusion, "What are you doing?"

"Looking for a way out." Wen Ran placed her hands on the window frame, and with a forceful push, climbed onto the window.

Qiu Shui hastily reminded her, "I checked before; this place is as high as four or five floors! Plus, any Magical Treasure doesn't work here."

In other words, even a flying Magical Treasure couldn't be used here.

If jumping down were an option, she would've tried it. Without the ability to use Cultivation, they are like ordinary people. Falling from such a height, they'd at least be seriously injured, if not killed.

Wen Ran observed the outside environment and said to Qiu Shui, "Go get the bed sheet."

Qiu Shui involuntarily moved, and as she handed the item to Wen Ran, only then did she realize why she was so obedient.

Watching Wen Ran tear the sheet into strips, Qiu Shui thought she understood, and pouted, "I thought you had a great idea. Even doing this, the sheet isn't long enough, it's a futile effort."

Wen Ran didn't respond, tying knots with the strips. After pulling forcefully to ensure it was secure, she asked, "Do you have anything heavy and sturdy?"

Qiu Shui was puzzled and thought for a moment. Then a pot, divided into layers like an herbal pot, appeared in her hands, "Will this work?"
