Chapter 211 - Vegapunk's Crazy Plan

Vegapunk was a genius. He was several hundred years ahead in scientific achievement compared to the world.

That's not only because of his Brain Brain Fruit but also because of his intelligence.

But he was still a human.

He had the limitation of a human. So, when he unlocked a perfect cloning technology, he decided to overcome those limitations by creating his clones.

He decided to create six clones, each with its reason for existence.

Good, Evil, Thinking, Wisdom, Violence, and Greed.

Each would have a part of his emotions and his intelligence. This would not only allow him to produce more technology, but it would also share his burden.

For example, the Greed clone would solely be eating, sleeping, and relieving. This way, other clones didn't have to do anything.

This was a perfect solution to his problem.

But it was also a bit imperfect. Because he was creating real human beings. Even if they didn't have a soul, they would still be no different than a normal human.

That's the scientific achievement that has surpassed everyone in this world in several hundred years.

So when Liam said that he would no longer have that chance, he refused without hesitation.

"It's impossible. Those satellites are a part of me. They will not betray me."

"You are wrong, Vegapunk. As I said before, you underestimate human desire, human greed. You underestimate your greed."

Liam's eyes tightened as he spoke.

"You think your clones would simply do their jobs, but you made them so human that they can replace humans. And, you give them one individual emotion."

"Right now, your goodness knows just how bad celestial dragons are. Your thinking and wisdom know that being a celestial dragon won't benefit you because you are a scientist."

"Then, you go and create a clone that has only one job 'Eat, shit, and sleep'. Then, what's that difference between her and a celestial dragon?"

"No, Celestial Dragons still have more advantages because of their status. And, if someone with your intelligence wants to become a celestial dragon, is there any way to stop her?"

"No! Because the World Government can control Celestial Dragons better than they can control Scientist Vegapunk. So, what's stopping them from giving your clone a status of celestial dragon if she could give them Mother Flame?"

"Nothing! There is no stopping that. And when they get Mother Flame, they get full access to the weapon they had for eight hundred years. Why do you think they use the Navy to control the world?"

"It's because their weapon can't be used. But with your limitless energy, they can destroy an island like Lulusia in a single strike. That will be your sin, Vegapunk."

Hearing this, Vegapunk's eyes widened. Even Kuzan couldn't keep calm anymore.

Although he couldn't understand how Liam knew the future, he had no reason to suspect him.

Because the World Government possessed such a weapon. Otherwise, there was no reason for someone like Garp to let Marines follow the will of the World Government.

At his peak, he was one of the strongest people in the world. With Sengoku, who was his equal, they had more than enough power to defeat the Five Elders.

But that wasn't all they had. The World Government had a weapon that could destroy an island with a single shot.

That kind of power was capable of destroying Marines, even if it couldn't kill powerful Marines.

Marines were different than pirates.

There were thousands and thousands of pirate groups in the world, but there was only one marine.

So, to fight the combined forces of pirates, the marines need to have a lot of people.

Ranging from five hundred thousand to a million people from all over the world.

But there were only three Admirals, very few, almost fewer than a hundred Vice Admirals, fewer than a thousand Rear Admirals.

This wasn't because there were few statuses. Although there would normally be three admirals in the marine, it could change if there were a fourth one.

Even if they couldn't get the identity of a Marine Admiral, they could still get the identity of an Admiral Candidate.

So, most of the marines were low-level powerhouses. They barely contained pirates ranging from zero berries to a hundred million berries.

That's why if the World Government launched their attack, they could easily wipe out ninety to ninety-five percent of the marines before high-level marines could defeat the World Government.

And that's not even including the one who controlled the World Government eight hundred years ago.

This was the information that he did not even know until he became an Admiral.

"So, you are saying that I am building an energy source for a weapon for the World Government. And, this is going to happen because one of my satellites will betray me."

"I understand your point of view. Now, I want to give you my point of view."

Vegapunk took a deep breath and continued.

"Our world is vast. It is so vast that even a behemoth like the World Government can not control everything."

"There are hundreds of thousands of unexplored islands just in the Grandline. These islands have their magnetic field that makes them hard to reach."

"Not to mention, the islands in the four blue seas and the calm belt. While sailing ships might be able to go from island to island, it doesn't have enough power to connect every individual from different islands."

Vegapunk's eyes became serious as he spoke.

"This is my goal, Liam. To connect every single individual through my knowledge, allowing every single individual to learn what they want to learn, without much restrictions."

"And, with my lifespan of less than a hundred years, it is naturally impossible for me to achieve this dream. The only way for me to continue living is through the lives of my clones, or my satellites."

"So, tell me, Liam, if I don't make my satellites human enough, if I don't give them desire, if I don't give them intelligence, will they still be human?"

Hearing that, Liam was stunned for a moment. He did know Vegapunk's goal of creating this world's version of the internet.

But he never thought about how crazy Vegapunk could become to achieve this goal.

His expression became a bit complicated as he remembered something and asked.

"Is that why you are not afraid of the World Government discovering your secrets? Is that why you don't care about your satellite betraying you?"

"Oh no, no, I care about that a lot. I don't want my satellites to betray me. But, I don't want them to work for the World Government even more."

"That's why when you warned me about this problem, I came up with a solution in my brain."

Vegapunk shook his head and replied. Then, he smiled and asked.

"Tell me, Liam, if I can balance the six emotions of my satellites into one, can I create a perfect clone?"

"Do you even need to ask that?" Liam replied with a cunning smile.

Vegapunk was startled, but he remembered how Liam even knew about the future and realized something.

"So, you know about her, huh. It seems like I am going to do exactly that. She was a perfect clone that grew up on her own."

"But I am also worried that she doesn't have any true purpose in life. That's the one thing that I can't give to a clone. A true purpose, a goal, a dream, or an ambition."

Hearing that, Liam shook his head and said.

"You can. The circumstances were just wrong. She grew up as an agent, Vegapunk. Even you made her an undercover. So, how could she have a heart to find her dream?"

"Okay, can you guys stop talking like that? I am getting confused about this person. Who is she?" Kuzan interrupted him and asked.

"You don't need to know." Liam replied and continued.

"You can continue to do whatever you are doing. I believe the invention of Mother Flame could potentially become the biggest breakthrough in the progress of humanity."

"But I also want you to put more contingency plans for your inventions. If any of those inventions land in the hands of the wrong people, they could cause a lot of destruction."

"I am not here to stop you from doing what you do best. Nor am I here to force you for anything. I am just here to make you stop before you make any major mistake."

"I can't control, so I am just going to put my faith in you. I hope you will do the right thing."

Vegapunk nodded his head and said.

"Don't worry, Liam! Without your warning, I might have caused a lot of destruction and death. But thanks to your warning, I know what to do."

Suddenly, his expression became serious as he continued.

"You also made me realize my importance. If I were an ordinary person, I could be careless. But I am not. My carelessness could lead to the death of millions."
