While Taoism truly preserves the one, but this 'one' refers to the heart, not the object—it is the unity of the heart. If the heart is eternal and constant, one achieves everlasting life.

Taoism harmonizes with heaven and earth, follows Nature, and encompasses all under Yin and Yang; therefore, Laozi said that among the four great domains within, the Tao is the greatest.
