Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Benjamin Hanks' Formal Apology

Benjamin Hanks heard his father and had just taken two steps forward when he suddenly stopped again.

Seeing him like this, Oliver Hanks was furious, furrowing his thick black eyebrows together, "What are you still dawdling for?"

Benjamin Hanks turned back, awkwardly scratching his head, hesitantly saying, "I don't know where Emma White lives?"

He should have asked clearly at the time.

But knowing Emma White's nature, she probably wouldn't have told him even if he asked.

Oliver Hanks really felt like giving this little brat a good beating. What kind of mess is this?

"Then call. You have to find Emma White today," Oliver Hanks turned his head away, no longer looking at him.

Benjamin Hanks pouted, responded with an "oh," and headed out with his phone.

Claire Green was nestled in a hotel room playing games, and when she saw the phone call suddenly popping up, raised her eyebrow with a mischievous expression, licking her red lips.

"Well, that was quick."

Saying this, she mercilessly hung up the call, only to answer slowly when it rang for the third time.

"Emma White, where are you? I sincerely beg you to save my grandfather," Benjamin Hanks cut straight to the chase, with urgency in his tone.

Claire Green got up lazily and stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, her cool eyes tinged with laziness, and her lips curled up.

"What's the matter, so many Western doctors can't do it, aren't there still TCM experts?"

After listening, Benjamin Hanks was dumbfounded. If someone else had been able to, I wouldn't be apologizing to you.

He could only bottle up such thoughts, and continually explained, "Yesterday I didn't mean it, I just panicked and spoke out of turn, they say doctors have a benevolent heart, and I hope you don't choose to give up saving someone because of my mistake."

He thought saying this would rouse Claire Green's sense of duty as a doctor.

Who would have thought?

Claire Green casually looked outside and laughed, bright and unrestrained.

"You're talking about those serious doctors, too bad I'm not one of them."

Benjamin Hanks was dumbstruck by this statement. Even in this day and age, people still self-roast?

He bowed his head, pondering how to respond to her remark. But the other party spoke first.

Claire Green chuckled, her lips curling, "But one thing is correct, it truly wouldn't be worth it for Z Country to lose a person because of you."

Benjamin Hanks wasn't angry upon hearing this. In this situation, whatever you say is correct.

"So you're agreeing then," he cautiously asked.

"Wait," Claire Green said leisurely.

After hanging up, Benjamin Hanks squatted at his home's gate under the sun, sporting a silly expression while waiting.

...

Claire Green strolled in lazily, just to witness this scene.

Upon hearing the noise, Benjamin Hanks looked up, and their eyes met.

Suddenly.

Claire Green curled her red lips, looking at him amusedly.

"Guarding the house, are you?"

Benjamin Hanks' legs went numb from squatting so long. Just as he stood up, her comment made him stagger forward.

As he lunged forward, Claire Green sidestepped, and Benjamin Hanks ended up sprawling on the ground awkwardly.

She slightly raised her brow, her eyes filled with amusement, lips curving.

"Benjamin Hanks, bowing so low as part of your apology, you really are something."

About to get up, Benjamin Hanks heard this and remained motionless on the ground.

Right now, I wish there were a hole to crawl into, to avoid facing this person with a twisted sense of humor.

Hearing the commotion, Oliver Hanks walked out to find Benjamin Hanks sprawled ungracefully on the ground, while Emma White stood on the side.

Raising his hand to press his temple, trying to suppress his anger, but couldn't hold back as it erupted.

In the next moment, Benjamin Hanks heard his father's furious roar.

"Benjamin Hanks, what does it look like lying there, get in here now!"

Claire Green heard the lion-like roar and smirked.

Looks like someone's in trouble.

Benjamin Hanks sprang upright like a fish, quickly on his feet.

The three went into the room, and Claire Green took out her things, her cool eyes looking at them, "You two, out."

Father and son obediently went out and courteously closed the door behind them.

As time passed, the two anxiously paced back and forth in front of the door, tightly strung.

"Click—"

The door opened, and Claire Green emerged, sweat on her pale face, her eyes dim.

Seeing the worry and concern on their faces, she slowly spoke, "The old man is fine. He'll wake up in about two hours."

Receiving the answer they wanted, Benjamin Hanks and Oliver Hanks still felt a bit unreal.

Claire Green took out pen and paper, quickly writing a prescription and handed it over.

"Follow these instructions, take it for about three days."

Oliver Hanks took the paper, and at a glance at the flowing handwriting, couldn't help but praise, "Beautiful script."

"The consultation fee to this account," Claire Green wrote a series of numbers and gave them to Benjamin Hanks.

"Alright." Benjamin Hanks took it and began the transfer.

Immediately, Claire Green's phone beeped with a notification, raising her eyebrows slightly at the amount.

Benjamin Hanks smiled, "The extra fifty million is an apology for my earlier rudeness."

Claire Green heard this and responded with a faint "hm."

...

Mason Quinn and a few friends were just about to have a meal, glanced around, and spotted a very familiar girl not far away.

Upon a closer look, wow, it really was her.

"Claire Green, what are you doing here?"

The girl eating, slightly startled upon hearing the familiar voice.

Could it really be such a coincidence?

With an indifferent expression, she looked up and, not seeing the man she was wary of, felt relieved.

"Having a meal." Claire Green uttered two words.

Who cares if you're eating, is that what I asked?

Just as Mason Quinn was about to speak, someone beside him chimed in with a laugh, "Mason, where on earth did you meet such a fine girl, she's quite a looker!"

"Exactly, and you're keeping her all to yourself."

Hearing these jokes, Mason Quinn stepped on the nearest guy with force, warning through clenched teeth, "Don't talk nonsense, or you're going to regret it."

Given Lord Jing's nature, he wouldn't dare have any ideas about Claire Green, not unless he had a death wish.

Upon receiving the warning, the group quickly fell silent, curiosity still gleaming in their eyes.

"Does Lord Jing know you're in the Capital City?" Mason Quinn swiftly took a seat across from Claire Green, propping his chin as he asked slowly.

Claire Green glanced up, her eyes sly, lazily speaking, "Why should I tell him?"

Mason Quinn felt a pang in his chest, isn't he your love interest?

The others exchanged glances upon hearing this; she was associated with Lord Jing, what kind of background does this girl have?

Mason Quinn glanced at her and summoned the waiter over, "Arrange another table for us, we'll share."

The waiter was somewhat troubled, "This..."

"Double the price," a guy approaching directly offered.

Before long, a large table was set up next to Claire Green, and she looked at the group with a blank expression, annoyance in her eyes.

"Mason Quinn, you're too idle."

Targeted, Mason Quinn held the menu and began ordering, picking the priciest items.

"Do you want to order something else?" he asked, turning his head.

Claire Green pinched her chopsticks, restraining the urge to hit someone, speaking coldly, "Yes, I'd like your big uncle."

"That can't be done; my uncle is waiting in Bayne City for his girlfriend, so you'll probably have to wait," Mason said, helplessly shrugging and winking at Claire Green.
