Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Seventh Sister's Medical Skills Are Questioned

As soon as Claire Green arrived at Capital City airport, her phone rang with a call from an unfamiliar number.

"Is this Emma White? Have you arrived at the airport?" came a young man's voice from the other end of the line.

Claire Green, using a voice changer, answered in a flat tone, "Yes, I have."

She wasn't surprised that the other party knew her number; they had been in contact via text before she came.

"I'll send someone to pick you up," the man said, momentarily startled upon hearing Claire's voice, obviously not expecting Emma White to be a boy.

And he sounded quite young.

"No need, just send me the address," Claire Green said, striding out with long legs, refusing him over the phone.

The man didn't insist and readily agreed.

Soon, a text came through.

Seeing the address, Claire Green's beautiful eyebrows arched slightly.

Leaving the airport, she took a taxi straight to the city center and walked right into Holywood Mansion.

She wore a mask into a shop, and when she came out, her long black hair had turned into a shimmering silver crop under the lights.

Claire Green cast a glance down at her school uniform, paused slightly, then walked into a nearby men's store to pick out a white casual outfit.

When she came out after changing, all eyes in the store turned to her, the female staff members even blushing, their eyes glowing.

Her slightly messy silver hair partly covered her forehead, her eyes lazy, and thin lips drawn up.

She wore a white round-neck sweatshirt with pure white harem pants, a black bag slung over her shoulder, exuding a lazy kind of charm.

A girl whispered to her friend, "Initially thought that outfit was nothing special, but now I suddenly feel it could work."

Her friend nodded in agreement, "Me too, I've decided I'll buy this set."

All the women at once told the shop assistant they wanted the same set Claire Green was wearing, something the staff had never seen before, leaving them a bit dazed.

It was the manager who responded, smiling brightly as arrangements were made to fetch the stock.

However, during this time, a small incident occurred that made everyone laugh.

A young couple quarreled over differing opinions; the girl insisted on buying the outfit, while the boy thought it didn't suit his taste, showing reluctance.

The girl retorted bluntly, leaving him speechless, "What taste? This outfit is neat and tidy."

Claire Green, being a mere observer of the store's happenings, coolly paid and left.

...

"You're Emma White?" the man asked, his face full of disbelief.

Twenty minutes ago, he had received a call from Claire Green saying she had arrived and came out to meet her, only to be stunned when he saw her.

Although she wore a mask, the eyebrows and eyes indicated it was a very young boy, someone who could easily pass for a star.

Claire Green's voice was low, "Is there a problem?"

The man snapped back to reality and shook his head, "No, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Benjamin Hanks."

Hearing this, Claire Green gave a light "oh," indicating she acknowledged it.

Seeing her so indifferent, Benjamin felt his mouth twitch in frustration; it was the first time someone reacted so nonchalantly to his name.

Claire Green's brow furrowed impatiently, her lips cool beneath the mask, "Where's the patient?"

Benjamin got serious and quickly led her to a room door, where he stopped.

"I must tell you, the person inside is the president of the Calligraphy Association, who suddenly fainted before. Doctors said there's a blood clot in his brain, but due to his age, surgery success isn't guaranteed, so..."

He didn't finish, looking weighted with concern.

Claire Green understood what he meant, but without seeing the patient, she couldn't make a judgment.

"I need to take a look."

"Sure," Benjamin opened the door, and they both went in.

Claire Green stepped forward to the elderly man with graying hair on the bed, carefully rolled up his sleeve, and placed her fingers on his wrist.

After a moment, she turned to Benjamin, "Seventy percent certainty."

Seventy percent, Benjamin's eyes widened; the doctors had given only a thirty percent chance.

Hearing there was a seventy percent chance from the person before him, how could he not be thrilled?

"Seventy percent, that's acceptable."

Claire Green raised an eyebrow, "You can make the decision?"

Benjamin, realizing his earlier words might have caused a misunderstanding, rubbed his head, "I forgot to say, the person on the bed is my grandfather."

"Oh, doesn't look like it," Claire Green drawled lazily, glancing at the man on the bed.

Benjamin paused then realized, feeling silently critical─it would be strange if a grandparent and grandchild looked alike.

Having seemingly enjoyed his expression enough, Claire Green's red lips curved, "Just a joke."

You're truly fond of dark humor.

Benjamin gave her a sidelong glance, impatiently asking, "When do we start?"

"Now," Claire Green responded and pulled an item from her bag, opening it to reveal acupuncture needles.

Seeing the items clearly, Benjamin frowned deeply.

"You're a Chinese medicine practitioner?"

Claire Green glanced at him, answering lightly, "Yes, is there a problem?"

"Not a problem, but are you sure...it's possible? Even Western medicine couldn't help, Chinese medicine has declined so long..." Benjamin suddenly regretted agreeing to her; who resorts to Chinese medicine now?

They had sought numerous Western medical experts to no avail; could Chinese medicine really make a difference?

Hearing the disdain in his words for Chinese medicine, Claire Green's gaze chilled, a cold smile curling on her lips.

"Oh? Did your Hanks family never use Western medicine? Chinese medicinal techniques have been passed down for so long, yet in your mouth, it's deemed unhelpful."

Benjamin understood she was angry, and although her words made sense, Chinese medicine was indeed inadequate today!

A flash of mockery passed through Claire's eyes as she packed her things to leave.

At this moment, a middle-aged man appeared at the doorway, seeing the scene with some confusion, turning to Benjamin.

"What's going on?"

Benjamin quickly walked over, quietly explaining the situation.

After listening, the man angrily smacked the back of his head, "Does that sound right?"

Benjamin was dumbfounded by the hit, watching dazedly as his father approached Claire Green.

"You're Emma White, right? Sorry, this brat doesn't speak well; we definitely don't intend any slight against Chinese medicine."

The man was shocked for a second upon seeing Claire Green, but being someone experienced with many storms, knew geniuses were not uncommon in this world.

Upon hearing this, Claire Green's cold eyes showed no change, speaking leisurely, "Since you favor Western medicine, please feel free."

Chinese medicine, with a history of thousands of years, now demeaned by a youngster─whether to lament or sigh is unknown.

Seeing her attitude, the man panicked; they had sought countless doctors in vain, and now that they finally saw hope, it was all ruined by Benjamin.

He glared fiercely at Benjamin, planning to deal with him later.

"You, get over here and apologize."

Benjamin, under the weight of his anger, hesitantly came over, apologizing cautiously, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that."

Claire Green looked impatient; his apology meant nothing to her.

Leaving a cold parting remark, she swiftly walked out with her bag.

"Sorry, but I can't take this case."
